A few resources have proven quite useful to me in writing. The idea is that we share links to online sources that have proven useful in helping with writing in a specific universe or (even better) in many different universes and settings.
One of my favorites. Tips on writing military sci/fi, with an emphasis on squad-level tactics. Helpful for not looking like a complete idiot when writing about military types of things.

Well, I don't know about other people, but my greatest problem when writting is always coming up with good names. Fortunately I find these two links useful:
Fantasy Name Generator - A Geocities site, but this guy has put a fair amount of work into it and the format of the generators I find quite useful.
Behind the Name - Also has some name generators, but is more useful for looking up name meanings if you're not sure about a name
