Darth Wong wrote:I'm reminded of the plot of Mortal Kombat. We are told that if humanity's greatest warriors cannot win the tournament of mortal kombat, then Shang Tsung's legions of warriors will flood onto Earth. At no point did anyone ever manage to explain how a bunch of kung-fu morons with funky superpowers and melee weapons would get past a single Chinese army brigade, never mind conquering the world. It was simply assumed that these creatures, having superior strength, kung-fu skills, and strange abilities, would just walk all over humanity.
I would pay to see that movie. A parody starting off like Mortal Kombat, with all the funky bad-ass kung fu warriors battling for the honor to conquer the Earth, only to have their asses handed to them at the end by a Chinese army brigade.

Rather like season 2 Buffy the Vampire Slayer when the big, bad demon called The Judge, who supposedly cannot be harmed by any weapon forged by Man, is taken out with a rocket launcher.

Great work with the fanfic. I stumbled upon Armageddon yesterday and I was hooked. I've just caught up with the Armageddon and Salvation War story up till now and it's been an enjoyable ride. I look forward to the rest of your story.

And to make a semi-relevant post before I get kicked in the arse. Any betting pool is going to be started on which army is going to be the first to enter Heaven?

My bet is on the British. So far, they're the ones who are noticeably the most fucked by the Almighty and have the least battle honours.(Well, Israel gets to pawn the Whore of Babylon) For political reasons, I can see them being given a throwaway honour such as how the Free French liberated Paris.

Technically America is already first, what with Wong having flown his plane in and out of a portal Uriel attempted to escape with.

Land Phish said it before I could. The Brits may be the first to intentionally get in, but Capt. Wong will always have the camera footage. ;)

Stuart's posted a couple chapters of Lion Resurgent (part of TBO). It's just part of how his creative flow works...

Stuart has in fact posted three TBOverse chapters, 2 "Lion Resurgent" set in 1982 and 1 "Decimating the Diodachi" set in the immediate post the death of Alexander period.

Plus there have been admin issues at HPCA due to spammers that have occupied some of Stuart's time of late

Argh. I keep checking to see if we're past chapter 41, but there's nothing from Stuart. I think a lot of people are just watching and waiting.

Yeah, I wants moars man. Is Stuart angry at me for posting some criticisms and is he angrily cranking his Curta calculator to estimate the megadeaths he will inflict on the Philippines? :D

no he is not

it is almost christmas so he is actually just jolly-ly cranking his Curta calculator to estimate the thermonuclear presents he will give me for christmas

Oh man! CHRISTMAS IN THE SALVATIONVERSE! Geeze, we totally need to see how that happens! Seriously!

A lot of people would still reflexively call it Christmas, just out of habit. It would probably take many years for a new name to take hold unless someone officially proposes one. The actual traditions wouldn't change much; most of them are pagan anyway. I'm an atheist and I still call it "Christmas", I use expletives like "Jesus fucking Christ" and "Oh God", etc. It's just a verbal habit. It's not as if I feel like I should make some huge effort to avoid things like that. After all, the words "Christ", "Jesus", and "God" have no real power to me, so if I'm using them despite not believing in them, so what?

Mind you, it's a bit different in the SalvationVerse, because there is a God, and he's an asshole. So I'd expect people in the SalvationVerse to make a bigger effort than I do. Still, habits die hard.

Remember, though, Jesus may actually be a pretty cool guy.

Who knows, maybe Christmas will instead become a "get stoned" holiday :P

Awesome! It's perfectly okay to pause one story when the Muse points you at another one.

I think we've already discussed what Christmas will be like in the Salvation War Universe, everyone will gather up the family and head on down to Obama's-Commie-Pot-Homo-Abortion-Jizzporium and glut themselves on materalistic gifts.

Also expect to see a lot of people referring to it as just plain old Xmas now, and really finally push Jesus out of the picture to make it a full on worship Santa Claus who will not be reffered to as "Saint Nick" if people can help it for the obvious reason.

Just sic Anonymous on 'em. Should take care of the problem real quick.
Wouldn't it be a lot easier to just open the portal on Earth and start tossing nuclear-tipped Tomahawks through? Besides, Heaven is nice real estate, and it's a shame to damage nice real estate more than you have to to win the war.
Yes, but it wouldn't be as awesome as punching God with the Sun.

True, that would be an effective fix. It's just a shame that attempting to sick Anonymous on anything usually results in them attacking YOU instead. You know their policy against doing anything constructive or helpful; it doesn't amuse them, they don't do it. Hell, most of the time it's them doing the spamming.

And yet, such things are why I love the Internet.

Still it won't be just a minor inconvenience or something like that that can just use "bigger effort" or something. I myself wouldn't know how I'd celebrate any holiday if I realized that said holiday actually celebrates a person who's currently trying to kill me and who has killed people who I've known and loved and sent them to a fate worse than death in the afterlife.

I mean, shit, it's like suddenly the happy feelings you'd get for Christmas gets juxtaposed with the feelings you might feel over the Holocaust or 9/11 or something. It's going to be pretty horrible.

On the other hand, when I was a christian, I never said or thought blasphemous things; when I deconverted, I went out of my way to. So, there may be some of that going on in the SalvationVerse.

Might I direct you to here? Seems like Anonymous views spam, animal cruelty, and pedophiles in the same light as the rest of us, and Scientology is their collective punching bag. Trolls? Probably, but even they draw the line at some point.

Hmmm...wasn't aware of some of these specific examples (I obviously knew about the Scientology. Who doesn't?) Fair enough then. Either way, I find their actions quite hysterical. Thanks for pointing me to that article; I quite enjoyed it.

I have really enjoyed the series. A fun part has been watching how the angel of death has been used to illustrate the gap between the old world and the new reality.

Only thing missing has been F5Gs.
