4th chapter of Wormhole War - which version should I post?

I'm currently trapped in some sort of dilemma regarding the 4th chapter of my story "The Wormhole War". Thing is - the story is about the war between two species, the Jardra and the Xril. To add nuance, some outlaw Xril smugglers ally with the Jardra. However, I'm aware that the two species can't communicate.

Because of this, I've written two versions of the fourth chapter.

In version 1, they succeed in communicating because one of the Jardra has a cybernetic implant in his brain which gives him telepathic powers.

However, I thought of that as an unrealistic deus-ex-machina, so I've written a second version of the fourth chapter the Jardra and the Xril smugglers ally because the Xril authorities, which are opposed to the smugglers, declare war upon the Jardra. (I personally also think that makes more sense)


Which would you rather see??

I prefer the 'common enemies' option.

I'm also leaning towards that option, since that telepathic cyborg thing is quite a "Deus Ex Machina".

In the meantime I decided to make the story so they ally because they have common enemies, and nothing more than that.
