I can't wait to read the new chapters, I've read 1-5 about fifteen times.

Also, why does a phaser really need a stock? There's no recoil, of course I can see it improving aim (note: i've never fired a rifle myself).
If you meet these historians I'll tell you what to say
tell them that the Nazis never really went away
They're out there burning houses down and peddling racist lies.
And we'll never rest again until every Nazi dies.

Well, the "improving aim" part is really really important. And phasers do have recoil; O'Brien even mentioned it once.

Aren't phasers particle weapons according to the analysis on the main SDN site? If so, then the third law of motion would seem to apply. Particle being propelled out from the phaser -> recoil force back into the weapon and the user, no matter how well reduced (felt recoil, if reducing actual recoil would violate the third law of motion?).

And as for the stock... at least it's there, no matter how unergonomic, not-customized-for-individual-shooter and/or wobbly it may be.

It does not matter whether they are particle weapons or not. They are transfering energy from point A to point B so they must transfer momentum too. The real question is how large is the recoil. For low power hand-weapons (most sci-fi weapons fits into this category... phasers included) with high speed 'projectile' (near light speed particles or photons) this can be very small.

In the quest for further updates, I bump this thread. It should probably be a sticky, anyway, if you ask me.

Why? Why would you do that? Now everyone will think there's been an update, and the ensuing depression when they find out otherwise will lead to at least three suicides. How do you feel about that, hmm?
Conversion Table:

2000 Mockingbirds = 2 Kilomockingbirds
Basic Unit of Laryngitis = 1 Hoarsepower
453.6 Graham Crackers = 1 Pound Cake
1 Kilogram of Falling Figs - 1 Fig Newton
Time Between Slipping on a Banana Peel and Smacking the Pavement = 1 Bananosecond
Half of a Large Intestine = 1 Semicolon

You complete and utter despicable cockbite, I thought this was an update.
So I stare wistfully at the Lightning for a couple of minutes. Two missiles, sharply raked razor-thin wings, a huge, pregnant belly full of fuel, and the two screamingly powerful engines that once rammed it from a cold start to a thousand miles per hour in under a minute. Life would be so much easier if our adverseries could be dealt with by supersonic death on wings - but alas, Human resources aren't so easily defeated.

I was thinking the exact same thing, myself.

This is where being pessimistic is the right thinking approach to non-regularly updated fanfics. You should come into the thread expecting it is just someone posting a question of when the next chapter is coming in. When that's proven right, you don't feel disappointed but if a new chapter does come in then hey! You're happy to be wrong. :)
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

I know where you're coming from but do you seriously expect me to take advice from someone who has Rimmer as an avatar?
And it takes a special kind of fuckwit to post on a long silent fanfic oblivious of the consequences, we need to be able to clearly identify these wastes of DNA.
