Battle of the Hymn. (a second look.)
Moderator: LadyTevar
I somehow missed the Christmas update, so I just now read that plus this ending.
Wow. That's all I can say right now.
Thank you. Reading this was a well-needed break from studying for finals.

They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Bah, I lost a couple of my notes, so winged it a bit with some of the wrap up. Sorry.

Since SD High got put in the Completed or Cleaned Up Fanfics despite being a Denizenfic and this actually got completed, I vote that "Battle of the Hymn" be placed in the C&C also.

I need to shop around and see if anyone wants to go through it for a quick edit. I go through the individual chapters myself a half dozen times before posting for obvious typo's and shit, but I'm sure there are still a bunch in there.Mayabird wrote:Since SD High got put in the Completed or Cleaned Up Fanfics despite being a Denizenfic and this actually got completed, I vote that "Battle of the Hymn" be placed in the C&C also.

I did initially write a list of those who died in the epilouge, but it looked clunky and odd so I deleted it and re wrote it.RogueIce wrote:Did I live or die, just out of curiosity?
You can look at it one of two ways; one, if I didn't actaully say your dead, your not. Or two, for the flow of the story, and the fact that it's first person, I only mention the dead people I actually see, so you could be dead and I didn't witness it or you could still be kicking.
I purposely mentioned that Lonestar made it through all right for ulterior motives and purposely mentioned the dead the way I did for credibility in the story. Someone had to die, it makes it better if major or importent people die.
Nobody would care if a bunch of PFC's got killed, but wipe out the CMS and the president,

Lonestar and I babbled about some idea's once. He actually wrote an origin on himself based on Battle of the Hymn. Obiviously, there are quite a few things implied in the story that could be used as a basis for another, just the fact of being in a new world and all that, not to mention the Citadel, but at this point in time, I don't think I'll write anything in it.
sorry.

I think that since this tale has actually ended unlike many of the fics in the Completed Section and is quite excellent if I may say so we should be adding it to the Completed and Cleaned Fics section shortly - unless anyone objects of course.
If anyone is going to go through and fix typos just let me know and I'll either wait for that work to be completed or simply substitute the corrected chapters as they come along.

Good ending, Knife.
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."
