And let's face it: this is a fanfic that was generated on SDNet by a SDNet thread. Anyone who thought there would be a different outcome than 'humanity and SCIENCE (key word) beat those silly fundies angels and demons' hasn't been here long enough.
I haven't actually read it myself, though. Mostly because I already knew how it was going to go, just based on that initial thread, ie: SCIENCE trumps silly religious mystical powers.

Re: Why am I reading Armageddon?
For the record, as a gift, one of my friends gave me L. Hamilton's "faeries fucking" series, or whatever it's called. Another lent me the Rhapsody books. Seriously, is it too much to expect people to have some taste?
lol no i guess since this thread is about armageddon
(I kid, I kid. I haven't read it so I can't make a judgment. Also, glass house, stones, throwing, don't do it.)

I will admit, I never found the premise all that interesting, but then again I find noble clashes really tedious to read about.

Re: Why am I reading Armageddon?
By the way, I gotta chime in a reply to Stark's earlier post and say I think books are often really, really bad presents. At least to get, since it seems the folks most eager to draw you into their literary realm are the same ones who know you would never begin the journey unless the materials were plonked in your lap for free.
Also books with creepy sex scenes are just awkward, awkward presents. Again, see Hamilton's "fantasy dick-n-vag Tilt-a-Whirl homebrew cockfest" as a prime example.

Ever since actually reading a Peter Hamilton book I can't imagine giving one to another person. Yeah, okay, the main character has lots of sex with lots of girls, fine. Does he have to be such a gigantic wanker about it?Also books with creepy sex scenes are just awkward, awkward presents. Oh, I meant Laurell K. Hamilton's books. Maybe there's a Hamilton literary curse going on, since I haven't heard of this other one.

Man, it's a pity you didn't take up the idea. I must confess I'm not familiar with your writing but I wouldn't be surprised if you could have produced something a lot better than the version of Armageddon that actually exists. The fact you apparently find a story where the mighty humans effortlessly beat the crap out of the stupid Angels and Demons to be unappealing is very encouraging.Ford Prefect wrote:I remember when someone first mentioned 'hey maybe someone should write this', and I briefly considered it as an idea.
