Stravo wrote:A recent emial from Dalton about an upcoming update for the archvies essentially lists me as the sole fanfic writer included in the update. I've looked on ASVS when I post my chapters and there's not a fanfic in sight. Is this just a period of drought that occurs every once in awhile or is there something else going on? Has ASVS lost much of its creative talent to RL and other misadventures??
I promised Dalton I'd clean up a couple of my fics and send them over, but being the lazy bastard that I am, I haven't done it yet.

Well, I'm cranking away at A Prelude to War again. The only question is, is anyone still reading?

I don't know it's wise to reveal anything about the project I'm working on at the moment, since I have a tendency to never finish the stories I start writing, but here goes:

It's a pure Star Wars fanfic told in the first person of an Imperial soldier stationed on a backwater world in the Outer Rim. This soldier, a sergeant in the Army, is a very problematic case: he doubts the motives and methods of the Empire, but is not yet willing to leave service.

At the beginning of the story his squad is assigned to a counter-insurgency mission. They arrest a small family (man, woman and a girl) suspected of spreading anti-Imperial propaganda, but knowing what will eventually happen to them, the sergeant decides to let the girl go, thus saving her. He understands the possible consequences of his action and is ready to face them, thinking that the life of that girl is more important than his...

I'm very enthusiastic about this fanfic, and I've been writing it faster than anything since my golden days of fanfic writing of 1998 (this era produced one finished story that I'd rather forget).

So this is the story in a nutshell. I hope to create something that is different from most SW stories. There are some parallels to real-life events, such as the Prague Spring of 1968.

No, because there's nothing to read. *froths at the mouth* I'd read it if you'd write it. :)
