Yes

*ahem* It's the plot, not the porn.

I'm not sure if this'll help, but just start typing (I assume you write on comp). Of course, not random typing, but just try typing from where you left off.

For me, another time when ideas pop up in my head is when I'm actually in the process of writing the story. The idea is, you'll "flow" back into the mood as you're typing.

Maybe you can try that. Don't try to think out a plot, but try to just continue whatever it is you've left off (unless it's like the end of a chapter, then it's more difficult).

Having an ending is good. I always have an ending first.

I always start writing with pen and paper. I've only written two published stories (in high school lit mags, so don't think I'm some real author), but always with pen and paper, then typing to revise, then giving to the editor for further revision. And I only write good stuff when I'm depressed. Took me three weeks to start my second lit mag story because I couldn't get in a bad enough mood  .

I think just not thinking about it is best. I normally try witing poetry or music when I have writer's block, or I draw. Else, I read. Strange as it may seem, reading can get you writing again.

Personally Kelly, I always have an ending even before I have a begining...it's HOW we get to the ending that's all the fun.

NR saves the day? Hmmm, I prefer the "events lead to murder, revelations of deception, and eventually, a climactic one-on-one showdown" style of story. With sex involved, of course :)

That's sort of what I meant when I said to make it up as you go along. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Or, if you're really in a rut, you could always take vast quantites of mind-altering narcotics to inspire creativity. :D
