Excellent work, JME2; it's a very intriguing story so far. Given your fanfic history, though, that's not surprising. I look forward to future chapters!

Heh, thank you, Techno.

It's going to be a busy weekend, but my hope is to try to crank out another chapter by Sunday evening, so we'll see.

if at all possible I would like to have a Death Star named after myself in the story, if its at all convenient of course.

"Captain, the Tom will be in firing range in five minutes!"

"What are you crazy? CLOSER?"

"We'll last longer against those stardestroyers than we will against that Tom.."

Other than that awesome story so far!

"Since when is "the west" a nation?"-Styphon
"ACORN= Cobra obviously." AMT

Well, we've only the one Death Star, but I think some kind of reference can be inserted at some point, Tom. :)

I've got some other shit to take care of this morning and then I'll hopefully be able to crank out another chapter before the end of day, folks.

Ever heard the phrase 'too many irons on the fire?' It means a craftsman has bitten off more projects at once than he can chew. A blacksmith with too many hot bits of iron to hammer out and temper at once. Or an author with too many plot lines.

Please do not go sticking more irons on the fire than need to be there.

That was precisely the problem with The Best of Both Worlds and what I've been hoping to avoid here. We aren't going to check in or feature every major faction or explore their activities. Point in case, the mention of Black Sun in Chapter 1. We had initially intended on making them a major player, couldn't figure out how to use Xizor or the organization, and so gave a nod and explanation, but that's it. Another example is that this is part of the reason the Klingon resistance got wiped out in Chapter 2. They're occupied, the familiar Klingon characters are dead, end of story.

Plotlines will open up and close and not drag out incessantly, that's the plan here.

Very true! I once attempted a Massive cross over fic between Urusei Yatsura, Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo, Ranma 1/2, Star Wars and a few other series. It ummm well it didn't work out to well.

Just read this whole thing through, I can't wait for the next chapter. I love it in stories when two antagonist factions fight each other. Its always a joy to watch as they both cut each other's strength so that the protagonists can mop up. Course, in this scenario, that doesn't look to be possible. What with the tech gap between the two factions. Still, it'll be fun watching the Dominion crash and burn. Keep up the good work.

I'm sorry about the continued delays; academic worries, illness, and family issues have screwed with my schedule. I'm really hoping to get another chapter out this weekend. And again, pitting the Dominion against the Empire is going to be much fun, especially with the surprises we have planned...

No problems, life comes first. Seems we'll have to have a talk with Singular Intellect and his use of voodoo dolls on fanfic writers. As to the Losers and the Rebel Alliance, Viva la Revolution.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Dominion vs the Empire, both because most of the fanfiction I've read has largely ignored the Dominion in favor of Empire vs Borg and Empire vs Federation, but also because the Dominion is probably, superficially at least, the most similar major Star Trek power to the Empire.

I know its too much to hope for, but I'd really like to see a Founder vs Sith fight. :)

Again, that was part of the attraction of outlining the story with theran-rel. The twist of both powers winning their respective wars and the time-jump just made it all the more interesting. The way the war will play out, both sides will have their strengths and weaknesses, but, we're not downplaying or playing up either side. We're keeping it realistic (or as realistic as can be with the Force involved  ) and striving to avoid any deus-ex machinas.

Uh, unless you're writing a story where the Dominion gets splattered like a bug on a truck windshield, I doubt many on SDN would consider the story 'realistic'. Some might even point out the Dominion, even one theoritically at the height of it's power as you've portrayed here, capable of fighting the Empire in any real fashion is in itself a deu-ex machina.

Again, both sides have their respective strengths and weaknesses . The Alpha Quadrant is the Dominion's home turf at this point and they've had time to build up a massive occupation force. But, the Imperials have more advanced tech, hyperdrive, etc. I said they would be fighting against a potential Imperial invasion, but I never said they would be fighting the invasion successfully...

No, it's not you. It's the joint thesis film that Theran and I are working on; we've entered the final month, or the "nose to the grindstone" phase of production. Getting this thing done is occupying almost every waking moment and updating Fearful just isn't even an option or concern at this point. We will get back to it, but not until probably June.

I wonder... with thousands of ships in the fleet, and only so many words in the language to strike fear in the hearts of one's enemies... do you think they have to pull out some rather odd names for ships? Like... a Star Destroyer named The Fluff or The Kitten? It'd be hard to take a deadly warship serious like that.

"Unknown ship, this is the Imperial Star Destroyer "Fluffy Kitten", heave to and... Captain, they're laughing at our name again."

"Fuck it, just blow them up."

But yes, JME2, amazing story. I can only imagine how this will turn out... and excellent use of the Omega particle to create the wormhole, rather than a naturally forming one linking the two. The only worse fate I can imagine for the Dominion is if Thrawn was the one leading the Imperial fleet. But overkill isn't as much fun.

It's alright. And Theran would kill me if I tried to name any Star Destroyers like that.

Anyway, the end is nigh; I stand by my prediction that work will resume on this by June. Our combined priority at the moment is getting the hell out of college.
