I just had a story idea where it would be sort of Dawn of the Dead/BTVS crossover sort.

To explain away the Zombie invasions I had the idea of some meteors hitting the Earth in various locations spread across the globe for maximum dispersal which releases some virus that causes those who are bitten by a Zombie to become a Zombie, of course there is the still the problem of how does this affect people across the globe. The Virus is airborne for exactly one month and random people become infected to an extent but those who have relatively intact immune systems can fight it off, though they cannot stop it if they become bitten.

This story would happen in season three before Faith goes Evil through that stupid act of plot and my main characters would most likely be Jonathan, Faith, *Suprise Character* and most likely the Core group from BTVS, along with a couple random idiots off the street from here and there.

Since I know someone will ask. Yes this does have a tie-in with a Halloween powering up of Jonathan since I need him to have some abilities beyond the screaming and running for his life that most of the normal people in Sunnydale do oh so well.

Oh and thanks to the massive amounts of death happening across the world, the Evil Demons decide now is the time to strike. Every single demon who hates mankind goes on a killing rampage trying to wipe out mankind or at least to make him an endangered species.

Info on the zombies is that they can turn you into a Zombie either through biting you, or scratching you. Non-fatal wounds take up from an hour to 24 hours to turn you into a zombie. They can only be killed through destruction of the brain [namely piercing the skull]. They can survive for long periods of time before they eventually begin to rot away but this can take anywhere from one to seven years.



Now does this sound like a good story idea?

Plot points that I need help with are.

1.How many males and females do you need in a society to secure a stable genetic base to avoid inbreeding?

2. How much in the way of land, resources, equipment, technology, and other odds and ends do humans need to ensure their survival?

3. What countries would most likely be easily wiped out thanks to Demons and Zombies, plus the impact of the meteor hitting the Earth directly and not the oceans.

4. What areas of the world would easily survive [to an extent anyway] and what areas would people flee to in an attempt to find safe shelter from the Demon Horde.

5. If anyone else has any ideas, story lines, or junk they want to add into this thread feel free. I'll probably incorparate as much of it as I can.

Oh and as an aside, to give more responses to the thread, not to mention giving me ideas of how to have the normal people handling zombies as well. What kinds of weapons or defenses would you build to keep zombies out of your house or wherever you decide to hold up. You can use whatever skills or knowledge you have but you cannot [unless you live beside an army base or something] decide to place anti-personnel mines or mini-guns on your roof to help you out.

Since these are Reanimation Virus Zombies, all that is nessisary for a group of people to fend off Zombie hordes is a few M2-15mm machine guns, semi-automatic or lever action shotguns and a good supply of ammunition for both. Also three meter tall concrete, wood or brick walls will stop zombies dead in there tracks. Things like Mortars, Flame throwers and APCs make this a Zombie Turkey shoot. Automatic Weapons are common across the planet and if any army forces survive, the Zombies go down.

As well the Vamps most likely would kill Zombies, first because there is a potential hazard in drinking zombie blood (as well as making them a threat to there primary source of sustiance if this is the case) and second because they don't have quams with killing in the first place.

For this scenario, it is best to go with something other than zombies as the ending of Shawn of the Dead is the most realistic outcome of a Zombie outbreak at our current tech level (IE-the military comes in, kills the Zombies using vastly superior equipment and posibly keeps a few alive for study in cages). I personally would sugjest extraterrestial invasion in a realistic manner. This would involve a conquest fleet going into orbit, bombing of major cities into ash with kinetic kill missiles or nukes and sending down forces armed with military equipment far beyond what we have, especially after a billion or so people have been reduced to radioactive ash.

I'm trying to avoid bringing aliens into the fic. I wanted a story that still includes the supernatural elements that are present within the Buffyverse since most of my major characters already exist in that universe. I just want to bring about the death of the greater portion of the human race. Is that possible or do i have to go outside the normal elements from Buffy to do so, namely bring in aliens and their uber wank gear to do so

I think it easy enough to have a BtVS story end with a doomsday. Heck, half the episode features them trying to stop the world from ending.

Keep the zombies, but for a decent plot. Just add in someone to create some form of mystic mumbo-jumbo that'll make the world impossible for humanity to flourish and continue. You know: turn the sky black, the water into poison, and the earth to ashe. The idea is not have the supernatural undead knocking on humanity's door, but have the environment slowly decay around the few men and woman who will be fighting back.

You can have it make zombies out of people instead of outright poisoning them to death.
