This is my first time writing a Nethack story as I played the game. This game happened to end in a yet another stupid death (YASD) and was a pretty aweful game, but I was still recording what happened as I went along. Its actually alot of fun, and I would like to get a thread of Nethack stories, so please subit yours.

So here is the rough draft story of Arisa and her dog Judd:

The God Tyr angry with the rebelious Morolch who stole the Amulet of Yendor and brought it to deepest depths of the underworld, has summoned his Valkyrie, Arisa, to enter the Dungeon of Doom and retrieve the Amulet.

Arisa enters the Dungeon of Doom with her little puppy named Judd. Known though only legend, no one has ever escaped the Dungeon of Doom alive. Arisa decends the stairs into a rather plain looking room. Nothing to be seriously threatened by. Further exploration of the Dungeon Arisa finds a stack of gold. As she leaves the room, she is attacked by a goblin, her first time in combat. She takes her long sword and runs it through the goblin, and the goblin dies with little fight. Knowing she needs to save her food ration, she decides to eat the goblin corpes. It tastes terrible. Moving on in her adventure, a pair of Jackels appear from the dark, Judd, Arisa's dog, attacks and kills one of the Jackels. Arisa dispatches the other. Judd eats the corpses.

Entering the next room Arisa spots a ruby red potion and a whistle laying on the floor. She picks up the potion and drinks it down, suddle she begins to move quicker. Then she picks up the whistle, and continues to explore the dungeon.
In the next room Arisa enters she finds a chest containing a Blue spellbook, a platnium wand, and a food ration. Fearing what magic the book and the wand contain, Arisa decides not to test them until she finds a scroll of idenity. But the food ration is a blessing of Try, since it is known that food can get scarce on adventures like these.

Finally after searching for hours Arisa finds the stairs down to the next level of the dungeon, before she decends she spots another food ration, a yellow brown gem, and a fortune cookie. Arisa's curiousity gets the best of her and she eats the fortune cookie, its fortune has a crypitic message that goes along with it, it reads "The orc swings his orcish broadsword named Elfrist at you. You die..." Kind of creepy, but Arisa dismisses it as a rumor and procedes down the stairs....

Arisa slowly decends into an empty room with 3 doors, two going right one going left, she chooses the left door. She explores a couple empty rooms and eventually coming to a dead end. Back tracking Arisa confronts a newt and dispatches it with ease. Passing the stairs leading up, and going through a corridor she spots a room ahead containing a fountian, a pile of gold, a violet gem and most importantly the stairs down. She picks up the valubles, and faces a decision, should she sip from the fountain. Legends say fountains can contain powerful magics, to demonic creatures. She takes that chance. (What the hell, its only level 2, and the character has not moved up a level.) Arisa takes a sip of the fountian, the taste is so foul that it makes her gag and vomit.

Knowing the dungeon level has not been explored thoroughly, Arisa ignores the stairway down and contiunes to explore. A another newt jumped out of no where and and was easily killed. This path seemed to lead to a room with another stairways down. While exploring the room a trap door opened in the floor and Judd fell through. Arisa shook her head and thought "Dumb dog, you are going to get me killed." Arisa jumped down the trap door looking for Judd.

She landed in a room with two doors a pile of gold and some studded leather armor. She quickly picked up the armor and put it on.

With her new armor Arisa left the room only to find Judd. She was glad to see her dumb dog still alive. Arisa coming across the next room is another pill of gold, and some green mold. Arisa killed and ate the green mold causing a very bad case of stomach acid. Ignoring the pain, Arisa continued to search the dungeon for the next level down.

Find some lichen in the musky hall, Arisa kills it and eats it, it does not taste to good, but it is food. Exploring the dungeon further She finds the stairs down, but not the stairs back up. Entering a rather uninteresting looking room, Judd runs ahead and disappears in some sort of teleportation trap. Arisa slaps her her for head cursing at her stupid dog, as she steps into the trap herself. Luckly it only transports her within the level, this being the case, Judd has to be in this floor of the dungeon somewhere. Arisa goes through all the rooms she has explored looking for her dog. When searching for Judd, Arisa discovers a general store owned by a strange human looking fellow named Angmagssalik. Looking her purse Arisa has gathered 278 gold pieces. Extra food is always a good thing, so he purchases more food ration and 2 pieces of slim mold, and a scroll labeled HACKEM MUCHE. After Arisa left the store she unwrapped the scroll and began to read, a sudden burst of knowledge pops in her head allowing her to identified a single item, and she decides on the platinum wand. It turns out to be a wand of teleportation.

Arisa continued her search for her dog Judd. While search rooms she has already searched for Judd, Arise becomes hungry and eats a food ration. Continuing her search she comes across a pair of coyotes, and she easily kills the first attacker, then charges the second, and misses, the coyote bites Arise, she is able to strike the coyote with a fatal blow.

The walls seemed solid, and it looked like there was no other doors to find Judd, out of desperation Arisa decides to step on the teleportation trap once a again, zapping back to a room she has been in many times before, Arisa sighs in frustration, she looks up and sees a floating eye looking at her from a distance, she takes her dagger a throws it at the floating monster. The dagger hits the eye, but does not kill it. Having her know tales of floating eyes, they are very dangerous creatures. They have no way of attacking its prey, but they freeze their prey by a telepathic burst, and let another near by creature kill its immobilized prey for the eye. It also is supposed to give magical abilities if consumed.

Arise decides to take the chance and swings at the eye with her long sword and misses, she is froze stiff. Luckily for her there were no creatures passing by to attack her. When she regains her muscle functions, she dashes for her dagger on the floor, picks it up and puts distance between her and the eye. She throws the dagger again at the eye, same results, it hits the eye, but the floating monster is still alive. Arisa charges again to dispatch the eye with her long sword, she takes three swings, the eye dodges each one, she slashes at it for a final time, and hits and kills the eye. The she picks it up and eats it. It tastes awful, but Arisa feels mentally acute she has not felt before.

Finally after several attempts of stepping on the transporter trap and being transported to random places in the dungeon floor, she final is transported into a room she does not recognize. Walking out of the room and down the hall she meets Judd. Thank Try he is safe. Finally it is about time to continue the quest down deeper in the dungeon. Finding a hidden door back into the previously explored dungeon, which happened to be only a few yards from the teleportation trap a pair of jackels come storming in the room, Arisa cuts them down with ease.

Arisa goes to the stairs going down to the next floor, takes a deep breath and went down the stairs to an empty room. Going out an open door in the room Arisa leaves the room to a dark hall where she hears the squeaks of a rat. Not think a thing of it, stabs at the rat and misses, Judd misses the rat as he tries to bite it. The rat runs up to Arisa and bites her on the leg. Arisa feels a cold chill come over her, and dies of rabbis.

The gems she was carrying turned out to be worthless pieces of glass. The spell book was a spell book of force bolts. She ended up killing 29 creatures.

PS I did not streamline the story due to the suckiness of that particular game. I am trying again though.[/img]

Suckiness or not, at least it wasn't boring. :P
