A vampire piece....

Something from my pile of scribbles....
I moved out into the gathering dusk, the cool clear air washing across me. For an instant I could not keep that most human and dangerous of expressions from my face...a smile. For an instant my elongated canines were exposed for any that might be near to see. Fortunately, the street was deserted at that moment. I stretched out, enjoying the soft caress of the breeze across me. I looked up towards the heavens, a clear cloudless sky lay above me. A hundred sparkling diamonds littered its surface, bright stars watching over the random bumblings of human society...the society I was so removed from just as they were.I started along the street to the river...behind me stood the old abandoned church...a crumbling ruin in the heart of the city. Much like the faith it ones housed...nothing but scattered debris in the face of modern society.
The river ran high, the recent rains swelling its banks...I walked along contemplating the flow of water. Ahead I saw a group of people...young, around the age I appeared. They shouted something in my direction...I whipped my head around, long hair flicking out behind me.
"...eaky looking bast.."
"Dont finish that boy." I intoned.
He and his friends laughed at me.
"What are you going to do? Mosher freak...eh?"
I let a small smile play across my lips...careful to conceal my fangs.
"More than you might imagine. Care to try your luck?"
I opened my arms inviting them, I quickly appraised thier numbers. A small group, only five of them, hardly a diversion, but certainly it would whet my apetite...
"Lets get him." The talkative one cried to his associates.
I laughed as they started towards me. There was the glint of amber streetlight reflected on steel...one of them had produced a knife. They started to encircle me, I dropped me eyes, watching the ground as my master had taught me so many years before. One moved to go around me, without raising my eyes I pointed a finger at him...
"You! Stay there."
He faltered for a moment...confused.
At that the leader chose to attack...heading straight towards me. He held his knife out before him, I grabbed the point of the wrist and guided him straight past me, turning to throw a backhand into the face of the one that had tried to circle past me.
I took a step backwards and offered them a smile...this time though I made my fangs plain.
"Shi...sh...he's got bi..big teeth..." one of them stammered.
With an evil laugh I moved forward...as one they turned and started to run. Much like a wolf I watch the flock, folling at thier heels...waiting for one to start to slow, to fall behind. I reach out and sieze the shoulder of the trailing member of thier little pack, hauling him backwards...he started to struggle and flail wildly. I grasped his head with my other hand and tilted it effortlessly to one side, leaning in towards the soft flesh of his neck. The smell of cheap alcohol reeked from him and I soaked it in as my fangs slid through the skin...hot, sweet blood starting to flow from his torn jugular...after a moment his flailing began to subside...the flow of life to my lips waning.
A moment or two later it was over...his heart stopped. I let him slide from my grasp as I basked in the warmth of the blood now coursing through me. I licked across my fangs, taking the final drops of blood from them...
Still somewhat euphoric I lifted the corpse to the edge of the river letting it slide into the cold depths...another unfortuante drunk that had fallen and drowned...
