Big idea, Imperium SD.neticus

A comparatively short time ago, i came up with this High RAR! scenario involving giving SD.net control of an island empire in the mid Atlantic. The thread did reletively well, so i was thinking about expanding on the base concept.

Here is how it works, in this work of original fiction, the events of "SD.net gets its own island empire" unfold. The Board's population with 10+ posts that have not been banned get sent to Atlantia as in the scenario to serve as the nobility ruling this island nation. What do we bring along, what do we do on Atlantia, how do we rule our empire and how do we plan for the future? Its a big project, but if we pull it off it is going to be weapons grade awesome.

I suggest you flesh out the island empire a bit, choose the scope of the story, the format, then several choice characters.

If you expand the scope too far, it will become boring. Too large to read, too tiresome to write, too hard to keep track of.

I suggest you pick volunteers who will form the "ruling council" of Atlantia and run this thing STGOD style, with people writing short excerpts on their actions, and then you summarizing them in, say year-long chapters. Some parts could be fleshed out more, like important battles or natural events.

Another way to do that would be to choose the ruling council as above (they will agree on political decisions), then other writers get to know these decisions and write about several aspects of life on the island and how they are affected. Like, say - Marina makes a decision that a huge seafaring fleet must be created. Then three writers do their part: one writes a short vignette about a shipyard worker, the other writes from a perspective of a nobleman who has to organize materials et al, the third about a soldier who press-gangs crews.

Or you can just use the tried-and true format of a classic story with cameos from board members.

These are just suggestions, though. It would be good if you wrote more about your intentions, since - let's be honest. You just made yourself the project manager :D

That will be a LOT of work. How will you decide who gets featured in the story? However, that would definitely be a lot of fun to read. The Administrators would be the Heads of state, and the Senate would be the Senate. Oh, and I volunteer as anything other than Peasant.

Start it as an STGOD in G&C, with a select group of volunteers who can guarantee posting in it. That way you have material to work with as PeZook suggested.
