Here is a poem I tried to write. I think its finished, any suggestion is welcome, as long as it has some kind critical value. I have no special education, although in school they never stop praising the famous patriot poets that rarely died a natural death.

Here it is. In quotes.
Innovator

I have broken new frontiers and shattered old ones
I have stepped beyond the veil to see what cannot be thought.
I brought proof of these new concepts trough my discoveries.
For I am an innovator of thought.

The mighty fires of the sun, lie in my grasp.
The wind is my friend, with steel wings I soar.
I swim like a fish, trough an egg-shaped can.
For I am an innovator of what can be done.

Nothing is truly afar, for the fire needs only be hot.
Tracks, roads, airways and orbits, I pawed them all.
The secrets of the world is my prey, never-ending hunt,
For I am an innovator of going far.

Know my name, trough my sweat, blood and iron cast,
Have me in chains and stake or beer and gold flickering,
I will not break, know no rest and outlast my name.
For I am an innovator of humanity.

Inventor of new, changer of history, stirrer of life, testament of mind's vigour.
If anyone wants to use this or quote this, give me due credit.
The name is "Arthur Bandalo", and e-mail me if you want to use it. I'll most likely say yes (although I cannot imagine anyone who would want to use this), I just want to know if it is used at all.

EDIT: Oh, and mods, I've put this here because this is the closest thing to a writer's corner.

EDIT2: Also, I am not very familiar with the technique of poetry. What you see here is from gut. Any sites or free books recommendations on the topic would be welcome.

Not bad. I'd say a seven on a scale of one to 10.
