Halo story

First off, let me say that I wrote this during a class today, and am typing it directly from the page. That means it hasn't been spellchecked. Alright? Alright. On with the story.





It was the humidity. The damn humidity gets into it and FUBARs the firing mechanism. But that's okay, I still have my pistol, sealed away in it's plastic pouch. Sarge had laughed at me too, when he discovered me pakcing my gear into the pouches. But I knew that it was a jungle out there, didn't I? A nameless junble hell of a planet that those Covenat sons of bitches were hiding on.

My legs are really hurting now. The pain feels good. It reminds me that I'm still alive. Not like Sarge, and the others. Where the hell are those reinforcements?

Tree root. I'm able to catch myself, so I only fall onto my hands and knees. I swallow some air, force myself to slow down my breathing.

'Snap'?! I find myself suddenly staring in the direction of the sound. There! A Jackel stood, staring back at me with those cold reptilian eyes. Looks like he's had a bad day too. Armshield is fragged, and he doesn't have a gun. Of course, my pistol is still in my pack. No way I can get it out in time. Have to take him down, mono-a-freako.

I unsheath my boot knife, and dash towards him with newfound speed. "Bastards!" I hear myself howl. I pen the thing to the ground, hold it so I can go for the throat.

"Please..."

The words echo in my ears. The red haze lifts slightly. "Please, don't."

I draw my lip back in a sneer. "Why shouldn't I?"

"Because... I'm your wife."

I gasp in horror as the nightmare dissolves. I try to comfort her. She's trembling, sobbing. When I try to lay a comforting hand on her, she flinches away, and runs out of the room.

I punch the backboard and cry tears of rage. You bastards. You Covenant bastards. Even in death, you still strike at me.
