I am proposing to write a LOTR fanfic. It would follow a captain of Gondor on his adventures a few years after the War of the Ring. Are you interested? Should I write this or I am just wasting my time?
This is going to be the first time I have ever written a fanfic.
Hopefully it won't suck. If it does tell me before I write the next part so I dont embarass myself.

I suggest Dwarf porn, if you're going to include anything.

Anyone writing anything taking place in Tolkien's work other than Tolkien himself is just insulting the work.

Does that include RPG campaigns? Cause I still think there's a few decades here and there in ME's timeline with small-scale adventure potential.

Unless you do a good job at it.

Just as long as you don't try to intrude into his territory. But I'd rather not see how bad fans can fuck up a modern myth.

Spanky, that's assinine. Fanfics are a homage to a work that in virtually every case is unable to live up to the original. That doesn't mean that people shouldn't show their devotion, creativity, and drive to try and produce something within an established piece. It's not like a bad Trek episode that drags down the franchise; it's a simple fan-based interpretation. If you're so sensitive about Tolkein's world the solution is obvious: don't read it.

I won't, I promise.
It's really gonna be seperate from what Tolkien wrote, just a few people doing their own small things.
And this will take place after the War of the Ring, of which Tolkien has written nothing about.
