"Clash of the Titans" fanfic

Am I the only person who has read it and been incredibly pissed off at the Author's inconsistencies and biases? To give those of you who haven't read it an idea:
Borg>Federation
Species 8472> Borg
Borg =(approximately) Empire
Species 8472=(approximately) Empire
Federation=(at least ) Empire

Individual gripes are too numerous to list at this time. But to give you an idea, the Defiant molests a Victory Star Destroyer single-handedly.

That's Paul Cassidy, IIRC. I don't recall him being a bad sort. You guys have to remember the fact that when he wrote this, the VS arguments were still in their formative stages. He didn't have a convenient page like Stardestroyer.net to help him.

I sometimes wonder if it wasn't better that way.

Whatsa matter? Upset because Paul upped the power of Trek races to make a battle more interesting? That's not bias.

I think we need to think about what is more important in a story. Accuracy to the vs. debates, or a good griiping tale? I will always vote for a good gripping tale.

There is an exterme that this can be taken to, such as the wankfest that was Portal. But if someone wants to upgun Fed ships so that they can actually be a threat to Imperial vessels AND it makes for a fun story with a lot of intrigue and drama I say right on.

I don't think anyone really wants to read a short tale of a few chapters where the Imperials waltz through the Alpha Quadrant.

A good story is all about conflict and drama, and the vs. debates are not. While I beleive one must make at least a passing tip of the hat to the vs. debates, but a writer should not be enslaved to that.

This might be off thread and I am sorry if it is..if you read Conquest and StarCrossed you get completely different ideas of Trek Power..In Conquest 800 fed ships actually survived in Battle with 600 fed ships for a little while (The SSD turned the tide)..In Star Crossed several thousand (I believe) got crushed in the Battle of Earth by a whole lot fewer ships...it would seem the Darth Wong increased the power of Trek enough to make a good story...I am sure nobdy would accuse him of being pro trek...I though Clash of Titan was a good story with some interesting plot twists

Sorry I meant that 800 fed ships survived in Battle with 600 or so Imperial Ships

here's the link to his site. it's not a bad story per se, he just flubbed some numbers to make it interesting. however, after posting chapter 31 two months ago, he hasn't updated.

Paul is very often country-hopping. He seems to usually be in the UK or the Netherlands.

He doesn't seem to be on ASVS, or am I completely wrong here?

He's an old-time ASVSer. I think he was still around while you were chatting with Boyd about ASVS.

Its not the upping of the Feds power, its the blatant inconsistencies in doing so.
Especially since the theme is supposed to be Species 8472 vs. the Empire in the first place.
If the Borg destroy Voyager with pathetic ease, Species 8472 destroy the Borg with pathetic ease, and the Empire can hold their own with the mighty morphin' bio-ships, then a single Defiant has no business anally raping a VSD.

hey, it's his story and he has made it clear he was going to focus on storyline and not cannon technical data. it makes for a better story.I have read fic's that are perfectly 'technically cannon' and they are about as entertaining as a VCR instruction manual. Some of the most entertaining have flubs and inconsistencies.

oh, and why must every decisive victory be described as an 'ass rape' or anal rape'? god thats annoying, so many people here use that (cough) analagy.

I know him, I've seen him around - just, I meant I think he's gone now, isn't he?

He comes and goes. Last time he posted it was to announce the latest chapters of his fic.
