Randon Placement complex

I've been reading a few of the "SD.Net in..." stories, and I have to say, I find them quite entertaining (with the exception of "The Battle of the Hymn", which I found a bit too much). Since everyone on the board (or those who write and collaborate on the stories, at least) seems to enjoy imagining what they would do when placed in some fictional location/world, I have to wonder what everyone here would think and do if they were inexplicably transported to THIS world, but in the past.

For that matter, what do you think the average person, or group of persons, response would be if they were all of a sudden to be regurgitated out of time and space by God (or Q, whichever you prefer) in say, 1869, or any other year during the Gilded Age.

Would you try to stop imperialism, or encourage it? Would you try to take power, or implement as much modern technology into that society as you could?

Edit: this probably needs to be moved to SF or some other board, I thought that was where I had posted it, my apologies.

Dpeeds on which country I arrived in. I might use my knowledge of history to alter events. Germany getting blamed for starting WW1 unfairly? Gone. WW2? Gone.

United States, 1873, on the podium next to newly re-elected President Ulysses S. Grant at the end of his inaugural address.

Well, all I need do is make some predictions, then sit back and watch them come true.

Of course, you appearing randomly during the presidents speech would have no effects on the time line, right? Also, is your knowledge of 1870's America detailed enough for you to make predictions?

Pretty badly if you aren't careful. Or if you decide to rob a bank and become an industrialist, invent the assembly-line machined automobile instead of Henry Ford, and suddenly warfare takes a whole new turn if and when it starts...

And the Zeppelins and tanks of the U.S. Army overrun all Canadian resistance...

And how is that a problem exactly? Oh and Kuroji thanks for the ideas about robbing banks and getting some inventions to my name! :)

I don't suppose you are familiar with the concept of casualty, are you? Busting up the Presidents address, developing advanced technology, simply being shot by police and having your phone or whatever is in your pocket taken would change the future dramatically.

And the Zeppelins and tanks of the Free Canadian Republican Army overrun all American resistance...
:wtf:

I would pay to read that.
