Reposting "Anatomy of a War"

Post by Mayabird »

Alright, here's the situation.

Steve just finished his rewritten 5th anniversary edition of "Anatomy of a War." I have the original one already in C & C and I'd like to move this new one as well, but I can't decide if I should have the new one replace the old one or leave it. I personally lean towards replacement but I don't know what the general feeling is. Anybody want me to leave the original version up?

I'm generally a fan of leaving old versions up for archival reasons. To me, a lot depends on what Steve thinks.

I said remove the old one and put up this one, since everything from the old one is in the new one, just superior prose in some cases, removal of typos, appropriate use of "it's" and "its", and new scenes. But I think I'm the first case of an archived story being rewritten/improved so Maya's looking for more opinions.

I think replacing it will be just fine. If there's story arcs that people don't care for, they can just scroll past them-since they're well labeled (not being much of a MechWarrior person I mostly skimmed the additional stuff with Omi). And the point of cleaned up fanfics isn't just to remove the comments it's also to present a "final" nice version. If the author thinks this is better than his first efforts I say replace the original with this new one.

Since it looks like nobody will be greatly upset by it, I've replaced the old version with the new, which also conveniently lets me chapterize it. PM me if you do actually have issues with it but didn't get around to posting about it.

And now I can abuse the screenshot again!
