The Darkness and the Light

Dramatis Personae (cast)

Eran Scope: Born on Corellia, Eran often seems to be completely devoid of emotion. Covered in scars and burns from past battles, he is a vicious, dangerous fighter. Somewhere in the past, he met IG-88E and became his partner in bounty hunting.

Souran Teer: Eran's apprentice, a half human/Trandoshan from Nar Shadda. His anger at being rejected by both his races led him to the dark side.

IG-88E: An IG model assassin droid, IG-88E is very good at what he does. Although mechanical, IG-88E can somehow wield the Force. Much to his consternation, his partners often refer him to as 'Iggy'.

Andryw Hellburner: Expelled from the Jedi Academy when it was realized that he was psychotic, Andryw is an extreme adrenaline junkie, and goes out of his way to start fights.

Darth Klaine: Heir to the Sith, he is intelligent and resourceful, and has not allowed the Dark side to eat away at him the way the Emperor did.

Lora Camille: Klaine's Sith padawan, Lora is an agile, quick fighter. She is young and seems impressionable, but is surprisingly tough. She and Souran have crushes on each other, but neither of them is willing to admit it.

Exar Affrasia: The most mysterious of the group, his body resembles that of a fallen Jedi apprentice, yet he claims to be a mighty warrior. His skin is pure white and his hair and eyes are black.

It's called a 'plot twist.' Say it with me Bean. Plot twist.

He might not let them. Did that occur to you? Actually, you've given me another idea, so there!

Jesus Chist Bean! You go to BotM forum and set flamebait there, then you come here and rip up my fucking character list! what is you fucking PROBLEM!???!!!? Can't you even fucking wait until I've got the fucking story going? If this is all you have to say, just leave my goddamn threads alone!
G... G... G

Look its WHAT I DO
I am the last bastion of Irony and Logic when its Midnight in Canadia(And the other Mods are alseep :P )

Look comon your talking to the people, the people who wait everyday for the next instalment of Stravo's or Mark S's Fanfic, you have to expect some fucking crisitim otherwise your not going to make it past chapter one before you leave, Crying a broken man because everyone from Wong on down said IG-88 NOT trying to kill everyone? WTF? Or Half Human Half Reptile? WTF!(I think escpilly that last one)

I'm not talking about everyone here, I'm talking about YOU. And what you're doing isn't criticism, it's flamebait. Shug Ninx was a halfbreed and 4-Lom learned intuition from Zuckuss, so both of them are plausible. And you last couple sentences make no sense at all...are you sleep deprivated?

Ok ok LOOK, 4-Lom, special case, He was the master of adaptation and intiution is not the Force, Intiution can be a simple case of increabile CPU power, Or to put it another way, I throw a rock at you, No where it will hit is dependant on a variatiy of facoters, not all of which being readly aviable

However if one could precive all these factors and "Guess" corretly where it would hit its precived as intiution, remeber he refered to it as an equasion, a formula of how to predict future events, its work it the short term quite well(See Chaos theory)
But thats STILL an insanly far cry from Force-Choaking somone or making a Lifiting X-wings with you mind

And second who exactly is Shug Ninx and where was he mentioned?

Because of a lack of evidence (only one story and not much background0 I'll just shrug and say whatever.

*brain overlaods as he hears Bean say he doesn't know Shug Ninx.* He's from the Dark Empire series, and was a good friend of Han's from the old smuggling days. He's a halfbreed human and Threelin and has two-fingered hands, plus these weird spots running up his arms and neck. By all accounts, he's a VERY skilled mechaninc. He apllied to the Imperial Academy, but they turned him down because of his race. He made them regret it when he became a key player in the series.

Lack of Evidance?
He calls it a forumla, an equasion, IE Mathatical, A THING a METHOD
Its fundmently possible with a FAST ENOUGH computer TODAY to achive *intuition
To you even know what Chaos theory is or do I have to teach it to you

The problem is the comparsion, Threelin and Human I can see
However your ignoring the Fact that Trashodians... ummm how can I put this...

Ah they have no Holes for sticking things into...
IE they lay eggs where are fertilzed outside of the body if I remeber Essitial Guide to SW Species Corretly....

Not forgetting that this is from the mind of a droid, who might see EVERYTHING in terms of an equation (how one seat is more comforatble than another) and if we read through the story, this seems to be the case.

Yeah, but that's based on Bounty Hunter Wars (I think) and they changed that from earier, where trandoshans (the guys at least) had the same equipment as humans (trying to pick up chicks in a bar...)

However your forggeting the essitonal point is the fact EVERYTHING CAN BE SEEN AS AN MATHMATICAL EXPRESSION

For are not Human Relations nothing more than a series of Factors wither we acknolwedge them or not?

Looks=X
Intellgence=Y
Fitness=Z
Past Behavior=A,b,c or as many as nessary
Current Behavior=M
IF all=>T then Date=YES
There mathmatical expression of how one gets a date :P

Certanly one could Dodge bullets or predict short term behaviors(Predicting the Short term the very defentition of Intiution) with enough known terms and enough calculation power

Do you understand yet?

BOYS!!!! It's FICTION. And on top of that, it is FAN FICTION. It doesn't have to be logical.

And what if the Trandoshan raped a human female or a human male raped a Trandoshan female? Ever thought of that??? Rape happens there too.

THANK YOU, KELLY! This is actually the story behind him. Damn, good guess!

EDITING: I'm changing IG-88E to IG-99

Edit: I'll concede the point about 4-Lom, since it doesn't really apply to my story (and this thread) anyway.

Bean,
I think you're being a tad hard on IG-88, its his fic and he has these ideas let him run with. Although I must add that how a droid with no midochlorians and can use and manipulate the force, not to mention its simply not alive, will work out is a little rough. But I'm willing to at least let him trot the character out for a chance.

If I had told you ahead of time that my fanfic would have Luke Skywalker as a Sith Lord and James T. Kirk taking on the empire withThrawn, the emperor and Vader combined you probably would have laughed and called me a Kirk fanatic. Instead I do belive that you find it a realistic and well balanced story for both sides.

I guess what I'm saying is that give him a chance and see how it turns out, if the first few chapters are ST:V Godawful then I say let him have it with all flamethrowers at maximum.

However, IG, in Bean's defense, he has brought up some very good points that you will have to deal with in your fic, he will not be the only one taking you to task for some of your character choices. I have to be extremely careful how I write the wide gulf between the Wars and Trek side in my story because fanatics from both ends will let me have it. You have to be prepared for that. People take these things very seriously.

I know. I really don't want to give the impression that I'm half-assing something, but this is relatively new to me (hell, it's only my second). Bean's flamebait has actually given me a couple ideas for the fic. I am currently writing the first chapter, and hope to have it up by tonight.

You would be referring to 'Skippy, the Jedi Droid?' Whose systems were flodded with 'midicloroxians'? This isn't like that. It's a little...darker. ( ) Anyway, since I don't want to give anything else away, I'm no longer commenting on the characters, at least until I have a chap. or two up.

OK, I finally have the first chapter done!

Note, this story takes place at the same time as NJO, but without the damn YV, who piss me off. I'm going to try and use canon characters as little as possible, since I don't want to adapt the story to their personalities.

The Darkness and the Light: Chapter One: Onslaught

On the world Carratos, a man named Tern Hellan sat in a well-appointed easy chair in the middle of his fortress, not knowing that his petty empire would soon collapse around him. The death knell came in the form of a proton grenade thrown into one of the entrances, killing a pair of guards. Farther down the corridor, other guards jumped to their feet as three figures came racing down the hall.

"Watch out!" one said. Those were his last words as a metal hand grasped his face and twisted, snapping his neck. The three bounty hunters all drew blasters and mowed down the guards, who were too shocked to react in time. As they came to the first open room, they all drew red lightsabers. Here, they paused long enough for the guards to get a good look at them.

The first was a man of average height and weight, well muscled, and utterly covered in scars and burns. His clothes tended towards dark and rough looking, except for a silver chain around his neck. The second was a younger man of just below-average height, who would have seemed handsome except for his piercing green eyes, which had slitted reptilian pupils. He also wore a grin of the uttermost wickedness, revealing that his canines were longer than they should be. The third, and tallest of the three, was an IG-series assassin droid. Built of glossy black metal, its red photoreceptors matched its lightsaber. Suddenly, everyone unfroze.

Roughly fifteen of the guards opened fire on the group with their blaster, only to be cut down as their bolts were reflected back at them. Then, the hunters broke and charged the group.

The droid leapt high into the air, using a back mounted repulsorlift to aid him, then brought his lightsaber down on a givin, bisecting the guard. It then swung the saber twice horizontally for good measure, and leapt away, showering another guard with blaster bolts from its fingertips as the creature's body fell apart. Meanwhile, the younger of the two men thrust at another guard, who leapt aside and tried to get him in a headlock. The young man bit down and literally tore a chunk of the man's arm off! As the man faltered, clutching his injury, the attacker chewed once or twice, then spit out the bloody mess. He then turned and shoved his lightsaber through the guard's breastbone. Then he kicked the guard's body away, twisted the hilt around, and impaled another guard who'd been sneaking up behind him.

The whole time, the first man had been fighting with a grace and liquidity that put the other two to shame. His first cut decapitated a guard, followed by turning in a full circle and slicing another man in half. As he continued to spin, he caught a fist to the face. Not even slowing down, he hit the offender in the side of the head with the lightsaber's pommel, dropping him to his knees. "Please," the man said desperately. "I have a son. I have to feed him somehow." In an almost compassionate manner, the hunter lifted the man's chin, and the guard looked deeply into a pair of cold blue eyes. They were eyes that held no compassion, nor emotion.

Then, they seemed to soften, and the man actually smiled slightly. The hunter placed his palm on the guard's forehead and ruffled his hair. "I understand," he said, his voice rough. "The will to live is a strong one." His voice dropped to a whisper. "However, you are lying." Suddenly, the man was electrocuted by thousands of volts of electricity flowing from the hunter's palm directly to his brain. As the charred corpse dropped away, the man lifted his arm, which still crackled with Force lightening. "I despise liars," he said, and proceeded to electrocute the three remaining guards.
.........

In his office, Tern sat, anxiously waiting for news on how his guards were doing. Suddenly, the door blew in and the three hunters marched through. "Who are you?" the warlord demanded. "What do you want?"

"We want you, Tern," the first man said.

"Guards! Kill them!" A small group of guards, Tern's best, leapt away from the walls and ran towards the group.

"Do you want them, IG-99?"

"As you wish." The droid moved forward to confront the guards. The first was downed by a poisoned dart, which was shot from the droid's hip. The dart hit the man in the carotid artery, immediately pumping lethal poison into his system. A segmented neuronic cord extended from the droid's palm, and he grasped it like a whip. The whip pierced one man's head, killing him. The next man was hit in the eye, and fell to the ground screaming. IG-99 then tossed several small spheres, which landed near the feet of one man and exploded, flinging tiny flechettes upwards. Disabled, the man fell. The next guard actually demonstrated some intelligence. One of them fired an anti-droid gun, which was designed to overload electronic systems. Unfortunately, it didn't work. The assassin, struck the man in the throat, collapsing his windpipe. With the final guard,
IG-99 gabbed him in a bear hug and lifted him off the floor. The guard coughed and howled as his arms broke first, followed by his ribs. IG-99 set the man down again and struck him with earthshattering force. The man's skull fell apart, and he toppled over, dead.

"No!" Tern hissed. Pulling out a hidden blaster, he snapped off a trio of shots at the men, only to see them knocked away by a lightsaber. The blaster quivered, then jerked out of his hand and flew into the grip of the scarred man. "Who are you?"

"Bounty hunters. More precisely, I am Eran Scope," the scarred man said. "The young man to my left is Souran Teer, and he," he gestured to the droid, which was now bent over one of the guards, apparently checking for a pulse, "is IG-99."

"Who sent you?"

"One of your rivals." IG-99 suddenly stood up and set fire to the dead man's body before stooping over another, the one who'd been taken out by the flechettes. The assassin pressed his index figure to the man's forehead and fired a bolt, killing him. He then started performing some kind of test, but the bulk of the droid's body blocked it from view.

"Are you going to do that...to me?" Tern asked.

"No. Fortunately for you, your collector wants you alive."

"How much? I'll double it."

"Sorry, but it's our practice not to accept bounties on our current employer. Looks bad for business, you know?" The droid set another man's body on fire. "Now then, this conversation is over." Before Tern could reply, Eran leapt into the air and came down behind him. He bared his teeth in a feral grin, then flat-palmed the warlord's head, kayoing him in an instant. Throwing the man's limp form over one shoulder, Eran cast an annoyed look at his partner. "Do you really have to do that here, Iggy?"

"There must be no evidence," the droid said. "And my name's not Iggy," he added in a surprisingly human reaction.

"That's not what I-ah, just forget it. Let's go."
