by Patrick C Briscoe

Lifting an audience from the shadows,
Darkness playing tricks on my mind,
The earth spinning 'round beneath me,
Drunk as a butterfly, my heart beats wild and free.
"Leave this place," says she,
"Leave, and never come back!"
Her words are sharp, distinguished, lonely,
Cold as the air, frigid, biting.
The wind follows me, blowing through my hair,
Yet the shadows still play,
Darkening my soul, trying to still my breath.
They are the killers of the brain,
Swirling, twisting, eating me away.
And yet the shadows play,
Deceiving the mass of life around me,
Receiving me, believing me.
The shadows play as I lie down,
To take me on, take me away
As I fall away from the earth,
And it seems the world applauds for me...

-is proud of self- ^_^

[EDIT] By 'their' I mean poetry.com ;)

$0 and a bunch of letterspam... I was published by them once.

Free Wanderer
by Trent Hopkinson

Wandering the heavens on wing pure white
To scour the earth in search of life
and bring to it, so fragile and pure
Love, primarily, and honour.

Perhaps not as gloriously as the Eagle
floating steady on gust, Rock solid and noble
but humble, like those he would touch
Simply by the prescence. Acknowledged and loved.

For the life to life touch
so powerfull and honorable
must also be private,
a one to one conferance.

And even across species,
the friendship of trust
the comradare of life
empowers both members to inspiration.
The very meaning of life.

Eh, I know it's not that big of a deal.. but it's my first time getting published in something. Damn them, though, for making a 24-line limit to their poems..

Congratulations. Do you expect to have more of your poems published in the future?

Been published twice by them I think.

Exactly the number of times I've submitted something.
NOt that it doesn't feel great, or anything, and not that I want to piss on Pat's parade, but poetry.com publish nearly everything.

I certainly hope to, but at the same time, I plan on looking into other venues in order to do so.

As it is, I've had too much negative feedback about poetry.com...

Yes, it is, just to know I am getting published.. even if not by the most reccommended people in the world.

Not to rain on your parade or anything, Ver, but poetry.com isn't even 'not the most recommended'.
It is widely regarded as a big scam.

Technically, you do get published, but the book is a piece of crap.
