“The view never seems to change, does it?” Ashtana sighed as she lies on a bed of grass looking up at the stars above. A weak “gerrr-allf” is heard off to her side almost as an agreement to her statement. Ashtana looked over to see Taki in all his small, furry glory pawing at her hair, trying to get her attention. Taki is a syion, almost like a cross between a small beagle and a ferret but with a long fluffy tail, short, deep red fur but with a rich main of thick fur around the neck. “Oh Taki,” she muttered as she picked him up to cuddle, “I know you agree, but I think there has to be something a bit more um… exciting than our way of life here.” Taki looks at Ashtana almost like he’s interested in what she’ll say. “I mean,” She continued, “ I know staying here with family, helping out in chores, doing what I can to help. It’s the right thing to do. But I feel like I need something more exciting, more adventurous. Something more than the bland life we have here, something more exciting than waiting tables for Mr. Theokor at the pub.” Ashtana’s eyes than bugged out as a thought just hit her. “Oh boy! I was supposed to be at work right now!!”

She got up at lightning speed, all 5 ½ feet of her with her long golden brown hair, grabbing Taki and started to run as fast as she could and even faster as she hurriedly ran back into her home town of Túrin.

Túrin is located on the planet Nevrast. An agricultural world out deep in the Expanse, far from any major spacelanes or anything of any real value. Just the way the people of Nevrast likes it. Out of the way, very rarely visited by any visitors, not bothered or barely even acknowledged by the Galaxy at large. Except by the occasional star-vessel every couple of months wanting to trade some supplies.

Ashtana hurriedly ran into the pub where a slightly bothered Mr. Theokor was waiting for her behind the bar. Mr. Theokor was a Rybick, a short, stocky, frog like being with four large eyes. “You’re late again Miss Celeborn, “ bellowed Mr. Theokor in his heavily accented Rybickian voice. “That’s the 3rd time this week. I really hope that’s not going to become a bad habit of yours?”

“No, no Mr. Theokor, I promise it won’t happen again,” Ashtana said back as she started to take a tray of drinks to a table wondering if her life will ever change. But little does she know, that in the stars above the pub, a streak of an falling star goes over the landscape that may change her life forever.

Onboard the small life boat, Bryant is feverously guiding the ship down to the planet below, not even sure exactly where he is. Bryant looked over at the computer read-out of his sensors taking note that Vladilen’s Scorpanoc war fleet hasn’t located him yet. Or at least he doesn’t think they have. He can’t tell much since his sensor package on the life boat can only relay readings at light speed. Only the war fleet has the tech powerful enough to read things faster than light.

Bryant’s been out here since he snuck away from the fleet less than a hour ago. His contact within the Hierarchy told him that their cover was blown and that he needed to get away ASAP. Along with a data crystal that must get back to the Alliance Senate by any means necessary. He doesn’t know exactly what’s on the crystal other than the fact that if it needs to get the Senate without the consent of Hierarchy or even Chief Executor Vladilen himself. Something major is about to happen on the galactic scene.

Looking at his computer read-out again, he refocused his attention towards the incoming planet looking for a nice discreet landing spot. Out of the way but close to the largest community on world. Hopefully he can find quick and discreet transport off world before Vladilen takes notice of this little off the beaten path planet.

Chief Executor Vladilen just stood there in his office looking out towards the sea of stars onboard the Last Exile, the pride of The Hierarchy’s glorious war fleet. As the most powerful nation of the Alliance Senate and even all of the Known Expanse, The Hierarchy fears nothing. By extension, Vladilen fears nothing. At six foot eight, slicked back jet black hair in a shoulder length ponytail, dressed in the traditional black leather trench coat with red trim uniform of the Hierarchy Executive Order, with a single prominent scar running alongside is face from eyebrow to lower cheek, he is a fearsome site indeed even without the emotionless, cold look on his face and in his eyes.

“Chief Executor! Sir!” A stern voice pierced into the sterile silence of the Executor‘s office.

Vladulen turned around to see Colonel Fuller with an escort of Guardian troopers. He was dressed in a similar black leather uniform but for active duty in the Hierarchy Naval Forces. The Guardian troopers was dressed in shiny, black armor that is completely enclosed and are armed with fearsome carbines.

Colonel Fuller saluted and spoke back in a professional voice, “We have found one of two Alliance spies in our mist. He was caught slicing into Father’s Security Omega Red files. More specifically, the files concerning the Trans-Matrix MMI project and Operation Kaine. He then contacted a low level technician, gave him a data crystal with the information. This technician then took a life boat and left at 1 hour and 10 minutes ago.”

“And this… technician’s current location?” Vladulen calmly replied.

Colonel Fuller immediately stated back, “While we don’t have his exact position, but due to the lack of jump drives on the life boat, he’ll be heading towards the only habitable planet in the area. An agricultural world named Nevrast according to the charts. I’ve already ordered the captain to make course to Nevrast to intercept the spy before he can escape back to the Alliance Senate with the data crystal.”

Vladulen was silent for a moment then turned back around to face the stars when he spoke calmly back to the Colonel, “Very well, proceed. Execute the slicer via spacing immediately then see to it personally Colonel that the other Alliance spy is dealt with and the data crystal is recovered and then promptly destroyed. Also everyone whom the spy deals with shall also be… silenced on the matter as well as the sterilization of all incoming and outgoing traffic on Nevrast from this point on. Understood Colonel?”

“Very much so Executor.” Colonel Fuller replied as he called the Guardians and left the office in timely fashion as Vladulen returned to stare into the vastness of the Expanse.

Tnx, currently working on the next part. I'm a bit slow when it comes to the writing progress. But it'll be done soon.
