About fanfics, i would like to know exactly what limitations there re. On chapters, pages, etc.

Also, are there any limitations against cursing, violence?

Nope. :)

Well, there are limits.. but they're pretty extreme (snuff pr0n, mainly).

I think our longest-running fanfic is Star-Crossed (see the new Cleaned Fanfic forum).

Cursing is an everyday occurrence in normal threads - why would it be limited in fiction?

As far as violence goes, gore is not looked down upon.

I dont think my fic can be called p00rn. Only one, breif shower scene.

I thought that cause the fanfics are more serious than two people just talking on the boards, that violence and cursing might be frowned upon. Considering that most sci-fi fans, like moi :) , curse like a sailor, i was probably just being overly concerned.

More'n likely. I, myself, put sailors to shame. :oops:

You should hear how i sound, sometimes 8) .

I was also wondering, if the story is not really a fanfic, but an original science fiction work, is it ok to file it in this forum? Cuase my story isnt exactly 'fanfic', per se, it is sci-fi though

Yes. Fanfics is just the default name of the forum, because that's the majority of the work featured. Original fiction is 100% fine.

Of course! Like I said in Gandalf's thread (about exactly the same thing that you just asked o.O), all my fiction is pure - the only fanfiction I've ever written are some really bad lemons. ^^;

In terms of cursing, I like to stick to the conventions of the series that I am writing about so my Star Trek/Wars cross overs are usually very clean, I think that Starcrossed has at most a handful of curses and one graphic sex scene in the entire story. It's just the way I like to write, while in the Matrix fanfic I curse all the time because that is in the spirit of the series I am emulating, but as many here have pointed out, to each their own.

Good, that's nice and versitile! I was just looking through the stories and i saw the Stravo Got His Grove back and Lensman vs. Culture. So i dont think my story will be that long, maybe like Lensman/Culture.

Any tips or advice is welcome, since this is the first time i've really put up any of my stuff in it's entirety, aside from some short stories.
