Hey everyone, I've been busy on a story for the past few months, before this forum was created yet, I've gotten good reports from the people that have read it and I've decided to put it up to the ultimate test, bringing it to you guys. I know it's no where near as good as Stravo's or Mark's so...

Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1

As the Blaze cannons on The Visaren quieted and the last of the rebel ships fled into F.T.L., the captain closed his eyes covering the green glow which emanates from them and sighed in relief.

The scanning officer, Ensign Helir, spoke up quickly afterwards. "Sir, our sensors no longer detect the rebels within the system."

"Good, not too surprising, they got quite a beating." With this Captain Cyran smiled evilly showing elongated canines on both his top and bottom set of teeth.

With this, the bridge crew smiled and a few chuckles broke through which were quickly silenced. Cyran looked at the screen which surrounded him and onto the planet of Visar to which his ship's mission is to protect. The planet still had the faint blue shimmer of the planetary shield which was still activated but beyond it he could see the large deserts that covered most of the area. Faint lakes of blue could be seen due to large amounts of planetary terra forming to add such things on the sand planet. Cyran smiled at the site of what had been his home now for four years and turned back to his command room and looked at his tech. ensign.

"Any damage sustained to the ship Ensign Matis?" asked Cyran in his best commanders voice.

"Minor hull breach on deck 17 sir, hull breach has been neutralized, no casualties recorded" responded the ensign after a few seconds.

Cyran grinned inwardly, The Visaren and others of her class, The Destroyer class, had been meant to take a severe beating and hardly feel it and that's the way it worked. Most of the interior of the ship was filled by shield generators, weapons cooling systems, and weapons emplacements. The armor of this class was the thickest seen so far at more than five meters thick it could shrug off what would be a death blow to another ship its size. Its 1050 meter long hull was covered in weaponry which includes 50 missile launchers, 10 tractor beams, 35 anti fighter cannons, and 60 blaze cannons. Two unique features too this design was the armor covering the back end of the ship and leaving only small holes for the engines making it nearly impossible to destroy propulsion of the ship. The final feature of this design was the placement of the bridge which resides in the center of the ship and relies upon holographic imaging to see in detail and scanners too see beyond visual sight. The main problems of this ship class are that its speed both in Faster Than Light speeds, most commonly known as F.T.L., and in normal space is slow compared to other ships in this galaxy and its maneuverability is the worst in the galaxy, not to mention it is extremely expensive so only a few have been made so far.

The communication officer spoke up waking Cyran up from his daydream. "Sir a message is coming in from the planet."

Cyran smiled "On the main speakers ensign Yanin."

The speaker came to life and the planetary governor, Fedrine Malakinsa began with congratulations of the victory and telling them that they have shore leave for the rest of the week which was greeted by cheers from the whole command bridge, Cyran simply smiled and nodded in agreement. He gave the orders to the navigation officer to bring the ship into the docking bay in orbit around the planet.

Dania Famiten leaned back against the chair on her ship, The Tangoth, and sighed in relief as she thought to herself about how lucky she was to get out of that alive.

"Damned defensive ships . . . it's gettin' so a smuggler can't make a livin' doin' her job anymore," grumbled Dania as her ship flew through F.T.L. away from the planet of Visar.

A small yet deep voice responded almost immediately "I warned you about that Destroyer that had been positioned there just a couple of months ago."

Dania snorted in contempt at her ally and partner in crime of seven years "Yeah and we all know that you're mister genius Aritipan!"

One of Ari's multifaceted eyes turned and looked at Dania with a look of "well of course I was" while the other looked out into the emptiness that F.T.L. was. Aritipan was a Minasten, his species was known for once controlling most of the galaxy but had lost power to the constant attacks from most of the rest of the inhabitants of the galaxy. Some people, including Dania, believed that the Minasten still controlled the galaxy just not directly. When she questioned Ari about this, all he would do was shake his head causing his short head feathers to shake a little and a corner of his reptilian mouth would curl up just a tad.

Dania grumbled again "yeah, yeah . . . " then mumbled under her breath something she had uttered so many times before, "smart ass."

When she looked up from her foul mood about 30 minutes later she saw the flashing light which signaled their trip was almost over and smiled. When she looked over at Ari she noted with a bit of triumph that he had fallen asleep. She nudged him hard and gained more satisfaction at his sudden awakening.

With a sweet smile Dania leaned over and whispered to him "have a nice nap baby?" this was said in such a tone that there could be no doubt of her malicious meaning.

Ari responded with the same small yet deep voice and seemed to show no anger at all "Why yes I did thank you for asking."

Dania turned away in a fit wondering what it took to annoy this being, after seven years she still had yet to discover this and to the day it drove her insane. With a quick and harsh action she hit the lever and The Tangoth pulled out of F.T.L. in a system near the Visar system and made a quick look around both visually and using the scanners to make certain of where her employers were. After finding their ships near the 4th planet in the system she turned to Ari and told him to get a course set up to get them out of here in case things go any worse then they were. As Dania was turning back to face forward her comm. button beeped at her. Dania took a deep breath and slowly flipped the switch which turned on the communicator.

"This is Dania Famiten, captain of the freighter ship Tangoth, reply requested . . . " with this she again looked at Ari and nodded, a signal to charge up the Laser cannons and ready the S.E.E.M. (Speed Enhancement Engine Module).

The speaker fizzed for a moment before a high-pitched mechanical voice spoke up. ‘Ah shit here it comes' thought Dania as she tensed and her heartbeat raised greatly and her breath came in shorter breaths. Ari on the other hand was completely relaxed and was once again taking this situation as he took every other problem they'd run into, with a completely relaxed attitude as if this was as everyday as his grooming habits.

"This is Zsi'Marikait of the ship Def'haregad, hello Dania . . . do you have our shipment with you?" the same high-pitched mechanical voice responded with expectedness.

Dania waited for a moment before responding, when she flipped the switch again she said with her sweetest voice that she could muster she softly said "Well . . . we ran into a bit of a problem . . . see we came out of F.T.L. and were approaching the planet and we were about to get clearance to enter when . . . well . . . the Rebels appeared behind us and began firing . . . and ummm . . . this Destroyer class ship and a couple of Strife class cruisers suddenly appeared over the horizon and opened fire on us and the rebels."

She continued to talk when suddenly Ari nudged her and pointed toward a group of three ships that had broken away from the rest of the group and were heading towards her.

Dania quickly spoke up "Now wait a minute guys there was nothing I could do, I barely got out of there as it was without having to worry about getting that cargo!" she looked back up from the screen to see the ships still coming at her, she grumbled and began to tell Ari to get them out of here when the ship shook from a blow. Dania blinked in amazement as it took her a second to realize what had just happened, then she turned back to the comm. "Hey! What the hell do you think you're doing?! I told you tha-"

Dania was cut off as another bolt shook her ship even harder then the first. Ari closed his eyes in frustration, he knew exactly what was going to happen now so he got ready by prepping the rest of the weapons on the ship.

"That's it!"screamed Dania in an unholy war cry "I've had enough of you ass holes attacking my ship! Now you've pushed me too far!"

With this declaration Dania slammed her fist down on the S.E.E.M. button and the ship leapt forward at over twice it's maximum speed. Dania handled her blazing ship with expert piloting as the Tangoth sped toward the first, and smaller, ship maneuvering from side to side avoiding fire coming in from the enemy ship's cannons and as she took a hard right followed by an even harder left as she came up on the ship from its starboard side and fired four missiles from her launchers. She blew by the ship skimming the cockpit by less then a meter just as the missiles broadsided the ship. The first to missiles were held off by the shielding but the second two broke through slamming into the armor of it and tearing it apart. Through the flames the previous two missiles penetrated deeper into the bowels of the ship and tore the entire ship apart from the inside. The last thing the pilot had seen had been the Tangoth's flyby. Dania let loose her wild laugh as her long brown hair flew uninhibited all around her face like a whirlwind, Ari simply sighed and put one of his long three fingered hands over his eyes in shame. The 45 meter long ship caught them completely by surprise. The Tangoth was often referred to as an ugly rectangle with a triangle stuck on the front by those who didn't know it but it was capable of the fastest sub light speed in the galaxy and among the best sensors for it being a "freighter" and was equipped with four missile launchers and two anti-fighter cannons making it a deadly force against ships it's size.

As Dania charged for the second larger ship the comm. Opened up again and the same high-pitched mechanical voice came up, this time with a demanding, desperate tone. "You are lost surrender now or we shall destroy your tiny ship!" Neither Dania nor Ari responded to this demand and after a few moments and a missile hit against the shields Zsi'Marikait gave the order to "open fire on the annoying fly" and his men did so.

Dania was coming right at the Def'haregad when Ari suddenly yelled that their weapons were about to fire. Dania looked at Ari in brief disbelieve but quickly turned her run into a swirling dive for cover as a pair of Blaze cannon shots flew past her cockpit. Dania continued the spiral downward as a trail of orange bolts followed just behind her, she executed a quick turn left which turned into a dive bomb as a duo of Blaze cannon shots hit the ship mid-stern shorting out the shield generator and pushing the Tangoth down and a second pair struck soon after putting a giant hole in the back of the ship and effectively destroying the propulsion unit as the Tangoth got caught in the nearby planets gravity pull and began it's descent. Dania struggled to pull her ship up out of the crash landing. As the ground came up closer Dania finally got the ship out of it's suicide dive. Dania grabbed what was now an unconscious Ari out of his seat and dived down with him as the Tangoth crashed into a forest and the view screen shattered spraying Dania and Ari with pieces. Outside, trees were chopped in two by the massive starship making the entire ship shudder. Dania looked up in time to see the ship hurdling toward a gargantuan tree, she grabbed Ari and held onto her seat as well as she could. Dania closed her eyes and prayed as the ship struck the tree and her beloved ship crumpled like a piece of paper and Dania's body flew forward and struck her console.

Ok....not a lot of people obviously interested in this...but oh well. Here's chapter two for those who read this.

Chapter 2

Cyran sat at the bar counter and sipped once again at the drink he'd ordered more than an hour ago. He was thinking about the past rebel assault and how it had seemed far to easy of a victory, ‘of course it could also be because I am becoming a better captain' crossed Cyran's mind for a brief time and he played with the idea but in the end it didn't work. His blue skin noticeably faded a shade and his completely green eyes constant glow dimmed a little. Cyran swallowed the last of his drink and his long pointy ears drooped, this drink was obviously far more potent then the barkeep had suggested and Cyran grumbled about how he should hit the bartender for lying to him. It was extremely late by this time and the bar was about to close at this time so the bartender told him and the few die-hard locals who were left that they were going to have to leave now but as Cyran got up and turned to leave when three Imperium troopers entered followed by a middle-aged woman who was flanked by three more troopers.

Cyran smiled at Fedrine "Ah, governor, to what do I owe this honor?"

Fedrine knew Cyran and they considered each other friends so she knew that at this late hour she would be doing both of them a favor by getting right to the point. "We received a distress call from a nearby system, completely uninhabited, at least it is supposed to be. I have decided that since you and your crew are on shore leave and since you always seem to hate being away from a ship in general you will be taking the Dissolution out to check out the distress beacon. You will be leaving tomorrow at dusk."

Cyran looked at the mature woman for a moment "May I ask why you are sending me instead of someone else?"

Fedrine sighed "I suppose so, we are almost certain that the recent smuggling and Pirate raids have been coming from that system."

"So you figure that I can take care of the problem . . . " Cyran put quite simply.

"Yes, basically that is what you're going to be doing," responded Fedrine "well, I shall leave you to your duties Captain"

Cyran made a quick salute "Yes ma'am I shall get to it right away"

With this Fedrine and her escort left the bar and into the 1st dawn of the planet, leaving Cyran with the gaping customers. Cyran looked around at the patrons who were all now staring at him and shrugged then made his way out of the bar and into the chill outdoors. Cyran pulled out a snike, lit it and took a deep breath, warming his lungs and soon his extremities as he walked through the town in which he had been staying the past two days. He left messages for his crew from his rented room too which they should get within the hour and went to the transport station. While Cyran waited for his crew to start trickling in he read the rest of the report to discover that only the beacon had been activated from the 4th planet in the system and that had only been in short bursts, Cyran figured that whoever had sent the message didn't want to be found by someone so that would mean that he would have to be cautious when he got there.

Ensign Helir came up to him as their transport ship started up to the space dock "Sir, I was wondering why we were chosen for this mission and not one of the other crews who are more adapted for the Strife class."

Cyran looked up at him "Because we are the best and most qualified crew for this mission Helir, you know the briefing."

"Yes sir." responded the ensign and he turned away and walked back to his seat.

A few of the newer recruits looked out the windows at the small ship known as the Dissolution in some awe at what adventures could be achieved through this ship beyond the boring planetary duty. Within a minute Cyran and his bridge crew had docked with the ship and were heading towards the bridge of the ship, most of the crew was already aboard with the rest on their way when Cyran entered the bridge and took his seat in the captains chair.

"Ensign Matis, is the entire crew aboard and in positions?" asked Cyran as he looked at the very short, blond haired ensign.

Ensign Matis looked at her consul and pushed a lock of hair out of the way of her eyes and then looked back at her Captain "Yes sir, all of the crew is aboard and ready for departure."

Cyran nodded and turned to his helmsman, Ensign Darli, giving him the signal to move out of the space dock. The 200 meter long ship, looking like an ancient naval ship from so long ago, moved at an extremely fast pace out of the space dock and into high orbit around the planet. Within a minute they were far enough away from the planet and they leapt into F.T.L. and headed for the unnamed system.

45 minutes later The Dissolution came out of F.T.L. just outside the last planet of the system and ran a sensor sweep of the solar system. Ensign Helir reported a group of small ships, no more then 150 meters in length at the greatest, all of them were on the opposite side of the system. Cyran turned to his tactical officer, Lieutenant Oriem.

"Well Lieutenant?" asked Cyran "what are your thoughts on this?"

Oriem looked at the display on the screen and paused in thought for a moment "As I see it sir if we were to engage our sensor jamming capabilities to their full capability we may be able to either trick them into thinking that we are either just a passing ship or that we are much smaller of a ship thus when they attack we have the element of surprise while out troops pick up the survivors, and we may leave with minimal damage to ourselves."

Cyran nodded "Very good Lieutenant. Ensign Helir, please intensify scanning in the region just around the second and third planet out from the sun." Ensign Helir did so and very faint readings came up from around the third planet. "There you have it Lieutenant, they are using the same tactic you just suggested yourself, a good plan I must admit, but now we must expand upon your plan to give us a better chance here. Ensign Matis, put jamming up to full and broadcast the closest you can to a trade ship out."

"Yes sir." responded Matis and she quickly got to work on her orders.

Cyran turned to Ensign Darli and gave him orders to, on his mark, F.T.L. to the seventh planet out and then do his best to make it look like the Engines just failed. Finally he gave orders to Ensign Yanin to, once all this is done relay a short wave distress call towards the general position of the false ships but to make certain that the real pirate ships caught the signal. When all this was done Cyran turned to Oriem.

"Thank you for your input lieutenant, now watch and learn from this battle." Asserted Cyran to Oriem in private.

The crew gave the signal that they were ready and Cyran gave the order to move out. The Dissolution disappeared into F.T.L. and soon came out around the 7th planet with the jamming system on full and the distress signal was sent out to the pirates.

Oriem turned to his captain, "Well sir we shall soon see how well this will work."

Cyran turned his eyes from the view screen long enough to look at Oriem and respond "Well Lieutenant, we can only hope that this works as pla-"

Cyran was cut off as Helir spoke up, "Sir, the pirates are about to come out of F.T.L. in 3, 2, 1, they're here"

The pirates came in very close to the Dissolution so by the time they discovered the trick a good portion of their fighters were in extremely close range and the larger ships were turning to get out of range as soon as they could, the Dissolution opened fire first. The missile launchers which had been primed beforehand opened up and launched a swarm of missiles.

Zsi'Marikait stared in disbelieve as his ships were torn asunder before his very eyes. "All ships take evasive maneuvers, all fighters close in on the enemy ship and draw their fire, all capitol ships open fire on the enemy with all cannons!"

Cyran smiled as the missile launchers continued to tear through the fighters, creating a river of fire as fighters were torn apart. Blaze cannons from all opposing ships were now opening fire on them and Cyran cursed as the enemy fighters were interfering with their locks.

"Lieutenant Oriem," Cyran quickly began "send out the Dart fighter squadron with orders to clear out those fighters, also, order those blaze cannons to open fire, even if we are shooting blind it is better then not giving out some of this punishment."

Oriem did as he was told and the fighter squadron was set loose on the swarms of automated fighters. The Blaze cannons opened fire, most either hitting enemy fighters or missing completely, doing little more then putting on a show.

Within a few minutes Ensign Matis turned to his captain "Sir our shields are down to 25%, we can't take this punishment much longer."

Ensign Helir turned to Captain Cyran, "Sir, most of the enemy fighters have been destroyed with only 3 fighters lost to us. As for capitol ships they have only lost one of their ten original."

Cyran ordered an immediate jump to the 4th planet and to have all weapons available trained on their exit point. This was going to be an interesting fight indeed.

Zsi'Marikait smiled as the intruder disappeared, he had lost many of his fighters, but they could be replaced and the battle had clearly been a victory for him. When a member of his crew turned and told him where the enemy ship now was he realized why this trap had been set, they were in orbit around the 4th planet and sending down retrieval ships.

Zsi swore in his native language, "They are here to pick up that fool Dania and her co-pilot, all ships get into formation and move to the 4th planet, that ship must be destroyed!"

The 9 remaining capitol ships were quick to respond and within seconds they were in ranks and a moment later they had leapt into F.T.L. to destroy the so-called rescuer.

"Ensign Helir have they found the survivors yet?" questioned Cyran as he looked out at the foreign planet.

"Not yet sir," replied Helir "But they believe they have discovered their position and are heading in now." Ensign Helir paused for a moment before quickly yelling out, "Sir the enemy is coming in on our starboard bow."

The Blaze cannons turned to the section of space just as 9 capitol ships and just over 20 fighters appeared, the Blaze cannons promptly opened fire followed by one of the final waves of missiles. The remaining enemy fighters were destroyed by this barrage but soon Zsi's fleet was firing back and the Dissolution was forced to retreat once again, this time to the dark side of the nearby 2nd planet through the use of F.T.L.

Zsi watched as his enemy retreated once again and smiled, "So how badly were they beaten ensign?"

The ensign turned from his control panel and laughed "They were beaten tremendously Duken Zsi'Marikait, we have lost all of our fighters and another of our small ships but from out records their ships shielding is down, we are free to crush them at our discretion."

Zsi laughed "Very good, send half the fleet in to take care of these nuisances."

Well, it's been awhile since I've posted a chapter, but I decided what the hell, here is the third chapter.

Chapter 3

Sergeant Sakimo looked through his sensor readings keeping track of his 14 person team, not including him, keeping track of the homing beacon which had now turned on full time, and he also watched the ships above. They were about five kilometers from the beacon now, they’d been forced to land immediately as to keep from being seen by their enemies, they now had their stealth systems up and running full leaving everything on the ground unchecked, but to keep the orbiting ships from seeing them, they were now forced into transmission silence as well to keep under stealth, making this job far more difficult then he would like, but they would get it done and be ready for a quick escape with the survivors when the Dissolution came into orbit again.

A warning came across his view plate as he and his group continued to move through the jungle in their heavy armor. Sakimo quickly looked at it, noticing that the enemy ships were sending drop ships and by the trajectory they’d be landing 2 kilometers ahead of them. Sakimo decided they now had nothing to loose so he broke transmission silence and ordered his troops to form up in formation 5B, which involved the men forming two lines 50 meters from each other and to then put on full stealth except for a line directly in front of them. He saw his men moving and within a minute they were in their lines, then they disappeared from his screen, he counted to three and then moved at full speed his weapons systems waking up and charging slowly as to keep the signal weak.

Within two minutes Sakimo and his group were within 300 meters of the enemy drop zone, a short burst message was sent to his group which was followed by a quick burst back giving him all the information of his units. He sent another quick burst giving instructions to pick a target with the heavy cannon and to, on his mark, fire. He got the message back and then noticed some movement in the makeshift enemy camp, they’d been discovered.

Sakimo didn’t waste time sending back his signal, not to his troops anyway, this time a signal went to his heavy cannon and it fired at one of the unshielded drop ships, tearing his stealth shield apart with it’s energy signal Sakimo did not bother putting it back up as another fourteen heavy cannon shots entered the enemy base, some hitting the same target, a waste of shots. Two of the three drop ships were torn apart, making them useless, and the third drop ship blew up in a spectacular red and orange explosion. The creatures around this third drop ship were thrown forward flipping end over end, Sakimo and his strike force were lucky; they didn’t have any armor on. Nine shots had hit the respective drop ships, the other six had been split among a heavy gun emplacement and as far as he could tell, a pile of wreckage, because that was all that was left. A wild shot grazed his right shoulder, destroying his heavy cannon and Sakimo swore as he opened up with his speed gun. As the thousands of explosive darts flew out from his gun tearing away at the unarmored enemy his troops fired their heavy cannons again, all of the shots were aimed at the two drop ships and both flew apart, their shrapnel tearing at bodies, quickly followed by a wave of orange fire. Scattered fire was now returning but nothing heavy enough to do any real damage to his troops. Most of the trees between the opposing forces had now been cut in two and Sakimo saw the same thing that his troops did at the same time, a heavy tank.

Sakimo opened a channel to his men “Aim the heavy cannons on that thing!” The orders were not necessary but Sakimo knew that hearing his voice would calm his soldiers’ nerves so they wouldn’t do something stupid.

“Spread out, fast, keep your heads down and fire until that damned tank is nothing but cinders!” this order sent his men scattering out in a fan as they fired every weapon they had on them.

The heavy tank shuddered under the assault it was under but it was shrugging off the attacks as if they were nothing, the single crewman who managed to get in smiled as his heavy cannon locked on to one of the suits and he laughed evilly as he let loose the cascade of energy and the suit was torn clean in two. He wouldn’t be able to maneuver with no drivers, seeing as four people were required to have it fully function but he could still do enough damage to keep these enemy troops busy.

“Nnnnnoooooo!” Sakimo screamed this without really knowing it as he watched Johan Milak get torn in two.

Sakimo quickly ordered his thoughts, he was in charge and although the loss of the man was harsh he had to think properly. He let lose a final wave of explosive darts tearing more men asunder and opened a comm. to his troops.

“Units one through ten, stay here and keep this tank busy. Units eleven through fourteen follow me, we are gonna get those survivors.” With this Sakimo began to move out, his men following behind him.
______________________________________________________________________________

Cyran grumbled, this wasn’t gonna be easy. Luckily the enemy were currently busy with quick repairs among other things. Cyran’s thoughts ran through his mind quickly, examining what he now knew about the pirate ships, what his own ship could do, and the weaknesses of common pirates that they had so far exhibited. He looked at Oriem, who was none to happy himself.

“Well Oriem, no ideas at all?” asked Cyran, his green eyes glowing softly.

Oriem looked up at him “Not a clue commander, maybe we should send for reinforcements sir?”

Cyran shook his head slowly “No, if we send they’ll know what we are doing and they’ll hunt us down immediately. Even if they don’t notice, reinforcements are 45 minutes away and I don’t think that either ground troops or we will survive that long, we are going to have to do this solo.” With this Cyran smiled a little.

A minute passed and the bridge crew was silent. Sensors indicated that the pirate fleet was still not moving, a terror tactic to weaken their enemy even more. Cyran finally spoke up, he had an idea which should work.

“Alright, we need to dump all of the spare parts and garbage, we also need to separate one of the anti-matter plants and one of the engines from the ship. We are going to turn off the grav fields around the anti-matter once we are a safe distance away. We will then drop the engine which will explode later as we hide ourselves on the opposite side of the planet’s atmosphere and shut off all of our systems and wait. We can’t attack the enemy now considering the condition we are in so sit tight. Once they leave we turn on our stealth fields and go back to the 4th planet in sub-light and once we are sure to hit them we let loose with everything we’ve got. Everyone understand that?”

Cyran got nods from around the bridge crew and he gave the order to commence, time was running short for them.

Ten minutes later Oriem came up to Cyran with word on how things were going. Everything was ready to go.

Cyran stood up in his chair “Well, let’s take this to the next level. Helir, keep me posted on enemy activity. Matis, detach the anti-matter and the engine. Darli, take us to the other side of the planet.”

All was done in sequence as the garbage and spare parts were spread out then the anti-matter and engine were dropped. When this was done the ship made its way to the opposite side of the planet and settled down in the atmosphere of the planet. They waited for another minute before sending a message which caused the anti-matter to explode, followed quickly by the engine, these two explosions set off two shockwaves perpendicular to each other tearing more of the wreckage apart.

Zsi watched as his sensors told all, two explosions had just gone off, one right after another, apparently they had done more damage then they had thought. He smiled wickedly and ordered his two smallest capitol ships to check the explosions.

With the death of the blast Cyran ordered a system shut down and a stealth field put up to make certain they were not discovered when the enemy came. The radiation made passive sensor scans impossible so he did not bother trying. Luckily however it worked both ways and the enemy ships were even less likely now to find them. They couldn’t see the enemy so they’d just have to wait.

Gihv’Olanim, the captain of the ship Fhl’Tarenti and her sister ship, the Tsin’Maiorit, appeared around the 2nd planet. Gihv smiled evilly, all he could see was wreckage and after a few scanner sweeps and visual confirmation he felt confident enough to lower his shields and after a few minutes of sensor sweeps around the area without finding anything he decided that the enemy vessel had been destroyed so he ordered the ships to return to the fleet.

Twenty minutes after ordering the shut down Cyran looked around his bridge, the entire crew was obviously bored but kept to their stations diligently. Oriem sighed and fidgeted a little as he leaned against a wall, Helir was leaning back in his chair softly whistling, and Matis was twirling her hair around her finger. A stricter Captain would have not allowed his crew to do this, but he knew that they were still ready to immediately do their job when the time came so there was truly no reason to be harsh on them. His ship had no shields and was going up against two 100 meter long ships, three 150 meter long ships, two ships the same size as his, and a single 250 meter long ship, needless to say victory would be nearly impossible. Luckily however six of the eight enemy ships, excluding the 250 meter one and one of the 200-meter long ones seemed to be of Gilen design, cheap fast designs with quite powerful shields but very weak hulls. Cyran decided on waiting another five minutes before heading out.
______________________________________________________________________________

Sakimo smiled, finally, they had reached the survivors at last. He took a quick look around and his smile faded, the signal was going, but it was amazing that anyone had lived, wreckage was strewn across a 100-meter radius and as he looked up, there was a large piece of triangular metal sticking into one of the larger trees, everything else was just debris. Sakimo sighed, this trip might have been for nothing.

Sakimo kept the disappointment out of his voice as he gave orders “Men, spread out and look for survivors.” once he turned off the comm. he mumbled, “or bodies.”

Sakimo began moving and shifting through the wreckage when he heard a moan coming from 20 meters to his left, a female, sounds human as well.

Ari sat in the trees looking down at the people who were shifting closer to Dania, he was using his powers, gained from being a Minasten warrior, and remained unseen by these intruders. He growled softly as one of them turned towards Dania and began moving towards her, he just had to bid his time and wait, soon he was going to have to act. The armor moved just below him, now was the time. With an inhuman scream Aritipan jumped down upon the armored soldier, with a sweep from his foot the armored creature fell and with one arm he grabbed the armor, lifted him above his head, a full two meters in the air and tossed him five meters through the air, slamming him through the tree.

Alan Bertram sat behind a tree for a moment, catching his breath and swearing at the heavy tank that had been causing so much havoc, so far three of their ten left had been killed but they had finally begun to have an effect on this thing, not to mention that almost all of the enemy minus this tank were now dead. He jumped up from behind his tree as it burst into cinders, mid-flight he turned on the tank and fired everything he had, including tossing a grenade which fell a full 20 meters from it’s target, reducing the actual amount of damage it did to almost nothing, but it did blind the tank for a moment which gave him time to land and jump once again.

He smiled as he landed, braced himself, and let loose another salvo of energy, all striking the tank. Alan jumped again, very smug about their victory now. Alan landed behind a tree, as smugly as ever and turned around to let loose another salvo, it was then that the anti-personnel found their target and fired out thousands of explosive darts, most hitting their target and tossing Alan back a good 10 meters. He stood up just in time to see the grenade coming straight at him and he did his final duty as a soldier, he fired every single weapon he had on him, all striking the tank and finally lowering the shields. Alan Bertram saw all of this and smiled smugly once more as the grenade hit its mark and he disappeared in a globe of inferno.

Sakimo got to his feet quickly, his speed gun instantly aiming at the creature that had just attacked him, the same was with the rest of the group. It was then that he realized it was a Minasten and he swore under his breath, this was not gonna be easy if this thing decided to attack again.

He quickly spoke through the comm. at the Minasten. “We are from the rescue team, we are here to help, cease and desist upon your attack!”

The alien smiled and in a small but deep voice responded “I am sorry, but one must be cautious when they are surrounded by the enemy.” He turned away from Sakimo and walked towards the female, “I am Aritipan, by the way.” Ari picked the girl up, “and this is Dania, she is in dire need of medical attention.”

Sakimo looked at the woman, quite a beautiful one at that, but with a quick shake of his head he motioned for his men to close around Ari and Dania, they were going to head back to the drop ships.

Sakimo and his troops moved at a slow pace, after ten minutes they had returned to the battlefield, stopping 500 meters from the position and scanned the area. As he did this a giant fireball erupted from the area and when his visual scanners looked closer he saw a heavy armor standing on top of the wreckage of what looked like a heavy tank.

Cyran ordered the Dissolution to come out of hiding, the radiation was still heavy in this area and it covered up nearly everything he did, but he could barely see out himself.

“Ensign Darli, move to full impulse quickly in the direction of the 4th planet, once we reach maximum velocity shut off the engines. Helir, turn off everything that gives us a signature that we don’t need until we reach maximum optimal range. I want all weapons warmed up before then and I want passive tracking of targets. When we hit that mark I want to fire everything we’ve got at them, including the Ion torpedoes that we have left, Passive tracking when they launch, I don’t want them to know what is going on until it’s too late.” These orders were given and moments later they began to move, within 20 minutes they would be in range.
______________________________________________________________________________

Sakimo scanned the area, to find that every enemy target had been destroyed. They had been lucky only one person had managed to get into that tank or they would have been as good as dead. He and his men closed the distance and he was greeted by the five survivors, each was now carrying their dead into a pile to carry back to the drop ship, what was left of the dead anyway, as Heavy tanks tend to tear their opponents to ribbons and then some.

“Alright men, take up the dead and lets get out of here” This order was given quietly as he looked at the dead, his voice never faltered, but that was how well trained he was.

When the dead had been gathered and picked up they began moving out. Three men ahead, five carrying dead, surrounding Ari and Dania in a circle, with Sakimo and another guarding the rear.

Gihv’Olanim smiled baring a mouthful of long sharp teeth, it was a shame that they had lost one of their two heavy tanks but they could get another one. Another 15 drop ships had now landed on the planet, although they did not know where their enemy or their ships were they would find them and when they did they would be captured, they wanted that Heavy Armor intact, besides, The Minasten and female would fetch a very high price on the slave block, as would the fools who had attempted to save them. Suddenly the sensors screamed out as multiple energy signals opened on their port side. Gihv had time to order shields up before both the Fhl’Tarenti and the Tsin’Maiorit disappeared in the power of the Dissolution’s Blaze cannons.

Ensign Matis let out a shout as five of the enemy ships quickly disappeared in the fire, leaving nothing but smoldering hot wreckage. Cyran quickly quieted the ensign as he saw what remained of his Ion torpedoes strike the side of his worthy opponents largest ship and the ship beside her, short-circuiting every system on board what was now little better then an armored hulks, at least for the next few minutes that’s the way they could be considered. He smiled as he saw that out of the original eight enemy ships only one was still a threat too him and even then it had been damaged by the assault.

Zsi’Marikait swore unabatedly, his ship and Klom’Ghinalt’s ship had been struck by those damned able Ion torpedoes. His other 200 meter long ship had been heavily damaged, as had one of his 150 meter long ones. Only Flap’Rhitare’s ship was still functioning at a little over 70% power and everything else was destroyed. Zsi swore again as Flap’s ship and this devil ship closed on each other.

Cyran growled as he saw the 150 meter long ship charge him as it prepped its weapons.

“Sir, their shields are at 40% and their weapons are almost fully charged. We won’t survive if they attack.”

“Hold course ensign Darli, lieutenant Oriem over-charge all Blaze cannons and target that ship.” were the quick orders given out by Captain Cyran.

Oriem quickly spoke up, “Sir, if we do that we’ll only get one shot, and it may not work on top of that.”

“This is the only option Oriem, our shields are raised but at 2%, we have no missiles, we are missing an anti-matter generator, an engine, and we also have minor hull breaches. Unless you can think of anything better I suggest you get to work now.” this sharp reply startled Oriem briefly but seeing as he could not think of anything either he did his duty.

Flap’Rhitare stared out his view port at the enemy ship, within a few seconds their weapons would be fully charged and these pests would die. He would be the hero and subject too twice the spoils of usual. He received the word that all was ready and he looked out upon his enemy once more. He waited staring at his opponent, his right hands seven fingers twitching and moving as he looked on.

Cyran stared at the opposing ship, his glowing eyes mere slits of green. At the same time both captains spoke the same words. Flap’s crest flaring upwards as he spoke it, Cyran’s elongated canines showed glaringly.

“Fire.”

Bump and post for The Silence and I.

Chapter 4

Emperor Hilan stared out into the huge city from his main porch and smiled. His plan to seize power for himself was almost completed. The ‘rebel’ attacks that had been plaguing the outer sectors for a month and a half now were almost coming to a close, and the chaos and disorder they created would force the diplomats to give him complete power. The people already loved him, and most of the military commanders followed his orders alone. This was going to be an easy and swift change, and Hilan smiled once more. He grumbled as his door chimed that he had a visitor.

“Lord Emperor Hilan, there are many laws that need to be checked by you my lord. They are massing in piles as we speak.” His aid spoke quickly as he entered and went straight to Hilan’s closet to pick out his Imperial outfit.

Hilan grumbled softly, thinking of a time very soon when all this shall be a thing of the past. His grandfather’s grandfather had first formed the 42nd Imperium, and he would form the newest government, with him the creation of the 42nd Empire would be born and he would be the greatest leader this galaxy had ever seen.

“Yes, of course Girin, I’d lost track of time staring out at the city.”

Girin nodded at his young emperor. “Understandable my lord, your father often did the same when I was his servant.”

Hilan turned away from his porch and looked at his most faithful servant, knowing that he would have to die because he was more faithful to the Imperium then his lord and master. For a moment there was an ache in his soul at the loss it would be, but it must be done if he was to become a true emperor.

“You know my lord, those rebels attacks on he outer sectors are causing quite a buzz around the here, you may wish to address that situation first.”

“Yes, of course, I will take your idea up for thought, thank you old friend.”

Girin left the room to get the letters, recommendations, and papers to fill out. Hilan put on his stately robes and sat in one of his many ornate chairs and sighed, so close he could taste it. This was his last step to power, all he had to do now was not do anything stupid, and he would win this wonderful prize for the game he’d been playing for all too long.

Fedrine stared at her advisor in horror as she looked up from reading the emperor’s message.

“They aren’t going to send ships to help.”

Fedrine slammed her fist into her wooden desk “Damn it! The emperor has been doing things like this for a year now! Cyran sent more then enough proof that we need this assistance!”

“Yes madam, I know”

Fedrine looked up at Garik, he’d been helpful to her and this planet for years now. “Garik, send out a message, keep all troops and ships on yellow alert, and put all planetary defense systems online.”

“Yes madam, immediately” With this Garik turned and left her office to get to work.

Fedrine sighed, wondering when Cyran was going to return from his mission. They were going to need everyone they could get their hands on.

Cyran groaned as he slowly got to his feet.

“Status report Ensign Helir” yelled Cyran as he stood fully erect examining the damage to his bridge.

Helir quickly tapped the appropriate keys and the screen of damages sped by quickly. “Sir, it’ll be faster to tell you what is working. We’ve got secondary systems, propulsion, F.T.L., and life support, that’s about it.”

Cyran swore softly as he looked out the view port, the enemy ship was a hulk. It had taken the first few hits before it’s shields had fallen, after that the remaining bolts had torn through her weak hull, fragmenting her. His ship had faired better, though not by much. By some miracle his shields had absorbed two of the incoming shots before the generators had blown completely, probably killing 50 of his people there. The other shots had hit the ship itself, tearing gaping holes in the outer shell, but luckily few of the shots had doubled up to tear more of the Dissolution’s guts out. Losses were going to be horrible, and a part of him said that they were only going to get higher before the day was out.

“Sir, we’ve got a message coming up from the planet, its Sakimo sir.”

“Good, glad to hear they made it. He’ll brief me on his mission when he gets up here. Give him orders to come on up.”

“Yes sir”

Oriem looked around the bridge, it was in shambles and he had a cut over his eye. He wondered what it was that his captain had thought when he had given his orders. The actions didn’t make any sense, and had endangered the ship. He would have to bring this up with his superiors when they returned.

Within thirty minutes Sakimo, Dania, Aritipan, and what was left of the ground force was back on the ship. With Sakimo, and his prisoners, in Cyran’s quarters.

“Let me get this straight, you are a smuggler who got caught up in the recent battle at my planet. Then you got shot down by this pirate named Zsi’Marikait and crash-landed on the planet. I just risked my entire crew and lost 100 people, and now you want me to let you go.” With this Cyran shook his head.

“Well, yes”

Everyone in the room including Ari looked at Dania in disbelief. Ari soon turned away from his partner in disgust. With this done Cyran ordered that the prisoners be taken away.

Dania looked appealingly at Cyran, attempting to get too him. Cyran simply smirked and raised his hand, showing a ring on his finger. The look of dismay on the woman’s face was priceless and Cyran wished he could have had the image saved as Dania and Ari were taken to what was left of the brig.

Cyran looked at Oriem and sighed softly, then smiled “Oriem, begin to repair the ship, just enough to make sure that our F.T.L. trip doesn’t kill us. Let’s go home.”

“Of course sir,” Oriem paused and looked at his captain “Should I send you the list of losses?”

Cyran nodded somberly “Yes, I’ll have to get on the letters as soon as possible.”

Oriem saluted his captain and left the room, leaving Cyran to himself. When Oriem stepped out of his office Cyran leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes. Including the ground party he’d lost 97 people in this expedition.

Five hours later Oriem entered Cyran’s office and stood silently as Cyran finished the last of the messages. Cyran looked up at the lieutenant and slowly stood.

“Sir, we are ready to leave now.”

“Understood lieutenant, I will be on the bridge in a moment.”

Oriem nodded and executed a perfect about face and Cyran took another look around the office before saving the messages to a file and heading out towards the bridge. Within a minute he had entered and was sitting in the command chair, Oriem at his side. Cyran turned to the man and nodded.

“Give the word Lieutenant, she’s all yours”

Oriem smirked “Alright Ensign Darli, engage F.T.L., target Visar system.”
______________________________________________________________________________

Fedrine sighed as she rubbed her eyes, trying to stay awake. The entire planet was on the highest alert, the ships had been on duty for a full seven hours, and the planetary shield was ready to be raised on a moments notice. The men were getting tired and so was she.

“Madam, reports have just come in. Still nothing from either Cyran or on any attack force.”

“I see Garik, well we will have to continue the wait. It is all we can do after all.”

With this Fedrine turned to the reports, so far nothing that would give away something like enemy movements, let alone size of an enemy fleet, but they knew it was out there somewhere. They would be prepared when they came to, with the scouts they would have plenty of warning before they got near the planet.

Garik interrupted her thoughts “Madam, We’d best go to a shelter in case something goes wrong.”

Fedrine shook her head “No, I will stay here, if I leave just think of what the populace will think?”

Garik’s reply was quick and harsh “And think what will happen Madam, if you are dead. How will the populace react then?”

Fedrine sighed, admitting defeat here as she stood. As she began to walk towards the door the emergency comm. suddenly spoke up.

“Fedrine, a wormhole has just opened up, 30 ships just ca-“

The comm. died as quickly as it had started and Fedrine quickly looked out a window, seeing a blue opening in space and a 2000 meter long ship came out, surrounded by many smaller ships. A blue shimmer signified that the planetary shield was up, all hell was breaking loose on her planet.

You already know I am. As for the big battle, am I that transparent? Unfortuantly this story isn't going to have nearly as many subplots or skill as Stravo's. This is my first attempt at a story, it's all completly improv, I mean, I'm making up most of this story as I go along, only thing I've got set in stone is the main story.

By the way, for those of you who are reading this, because I know some people are, please post and tell me what you think. And if any of you are attached to characters, you are forewarned. My characters have no character shields.
