Star Trek/Star Wars: The Meeting

I'm just posting the first bit tonight, and remember, I started writing this about two years ago. Here it goes:
----Introduction----
Location: Unknown Regions, near Imperial Space, Star Wars Galaxy.
Time: Shortly after the fall of Coruscant to the Yuuzhan Vong (Star by Star).
Setting: The Rebel Alliance, now the New Republic, defeated the Empire. The Empire finally agreed to peace when it was down to only eight sectors in the Outer Rim. Peace reigned for several years, until the Yuuzhan Vong came and invaded the New Republic. At one point in this invasion, the Empire discovers an anomaly near their space..
Admiral Pellaeon stood on the bridge of the Chimera. Flanking his flagship was an Interdictor class starship. They were in a point just outside the borders of the Empire, near the unknown regions, an area not claimed by the New Republic, Yuuzhan Vong, or Empire. The Yuuzhan Vong had taken Coruscant and were nearing victory, but they seemed to be ignoring the Empire for now, giving him time to investigate this strange time-space distortion. It wasn't a portal or wormhole or anything like that, but it was an unstable point in space-time and seemed to be effected by gravity. "Activate," Pellaeon said into the comm. The Interdictor, the Dominator II, engaged its gravity well projectors. The point in space the sensors showed as the focal point of the distortion started to ripple. Then it started to glow. Finally an explosion erupted from the center of the glow, but no flames- just a bright wave of energy and shockwave. He had to shield his eyes, then the transparisteel darkened and he was able to see again. The entire ship jolted and his crew started shouting out damage reports. One crewman shouted out that the Dominator II was reporting heavy damage. Then the explosion faded away and the transparisteel returned to its normal shade...and what Pellaeon saw made him stand up in surprise. Where the space-time distortion had been, a full wormhole had developed. The Dominator II was nearby with large gashes in the hull, but the Chimera was unscathed thanks to its superior shields. His science officer approached him. "Sir, it appears to be a space-time wormhole. Quite rare, i assure you...in fact, while scientists have shown that it is possible, there has been no record in 20,000 years of galactic civilization of a single space-time wormhole ever having been discovered. It appears perfectly stable now, but there's no telling what will happen if the Dominator shuts off the gravity well projectors. I would consider it perfectly safe to enter it...as long as the Dominator remains here." Pellaeon nodded. "Good...now the First Explorationary Force will get their first assignment," he said, smiling, "After all, they keep bragging about their superior spy ships, but they haven't even tested them yet."
Location: Bastion orbit, Imperial capital world
Captain Jason Beddoes strode onto the bridge of the Patriot, his new command. He was one of the captains in the newly formed Imperial First Explorationary Force (IFEF). If he hadn't helped design the Patriot class Star Destroyer, he probably would have been assigned a Carrack class cruiser. As it was, there were only two Patriot class Star Destroyers in the Empire- one was his command, the other was commanded by Vice Admiral Zurel Tharde, commander of the IFEF. He read the orders. It seemed quite strange...he was to head to a nearby point in space in the Unknown Regions, then head elsewhere and scout. He wouldn't be told where the scouting would take place until arrival. He shrugged off his feeling of how strange it was and ordered the jump made.
Location: Unknown Region, Space-Time Wormhole
The Patriot materialized near the wormhole. The Chimera hailed it and Pellaeon briefed Jason Beddoes, who was quite surprised. "You mean you have know idea where this wormhole will lead, what's on the other side, or if we will survive the trip?" Pellaeon shook his head. "I'm sorry I couldn't offer more reassurances, but you ARE our advanced scouts." Flanking the Patriot were two IFEF Carrack cruisers (painted ghost white with black lines at the corners) that would join her on the mission and go separate ways. All three ships had advanced sensors that would let them scan nearby systems to discover good entry-exit points for hyperspace jumps. The three ships flew into the wormhole, and into the unknown.
Location: Federation-Romulan Neutral Zone, near Romulan space, Milky Way Galaxy
Time: A few hours earlier
Subcommander Tolok watched the Asteroid base carefully. This was his first mission after being assigned a D'Deridex class Warbird. His Warbird, and another, more experienced, were guarding a secret Romulan base that was actually INSIDE the neutral zone, just barely. He didn't know what was going on there, and knew only that there were experiments being conducted, but he assumed they were against the treaty as they were to keep it secret and to destroy the base before allowing its capture. His science officer turned to face him. "Sir, i am getting some very strange readings-" As if to punctuate his sentance, the asteroid base exploded. The other warbird, which was nearer, was torn apart in the explosion. Tolok's mouth gaped, then the shockwave hit.
The Patriot and its Carrack escorts flew out of the wormhole. They ended up in a thin asteroid belt. "Sensors, report." The officer turned around. "Captain," he began, "there are small peices of debris scattered around this point. The asteroids nearest were crushed and others were pushed away from the site where the wormhole appeared, which means it is likely that the wormhole materialized with an explosion as it did on our side of the wormhole. I have no idea where we are- star charts match no know portion of our galaxy." Jason frowned. "Could we be, then, in another galaxy?" The science officer shrugged. "That is impossible to tell at this point. Also, we've detected a nearby derelict...it matches no known ship configurations. It appears to be heavily damaged." Jason considered for a second. "Life signs?" The science officer shook his head. Jason asked, "Give me a visual." The ship appeared on one of the monitors on the bridge. It had numerous gaps in the hull. But it was quite sleek...it had an almost birdlike design, and indeed, the nose seemed like a beak. It was completely adrift. The science officer continued, "Also, visual scans reveal markings...however, the language is one unknown to us. And it is 1400 meters long." Jason Beddoes' eyes widened. "1400 meters? That thing would dwarf us! We're lucky it's disabled!" Indeed, the Patriot Star Destroyer was the smallest Star Destroyer based design ever. The first star destroyer, the Victory class, had been 900 meters, and every Star Destroyer since had been larger. The Patriot was the first to break that tradition of increasing size, weighing at 400 meters, only 100 more than the Carrack cruiser. Suddenly the science officer spoke up. "Sir, we are detecting another ship!"
When the warbird had been hit by the shockwave, it had been crippled and most of the crew killed. However, a few hundred had survived, Subcommander Tolok included. He had made it to the shuttle bay with a few key crewmembers and escaped the ship just before radiation from a damaged reactor had killed the crew off. As he had headed away from his torn up and disabled ship onboard the shuttle, he had detected fluctiations from the point where the base had been, and a ship appear. He killed the impulse engines in hope he wouldn't be detected and could make it back to Romulus to report. After a short time of sitting there, suddenly the ship wheeled around and came straight for him. Cursing in Romulan, he engaged the impulse engines again, and maneuvered behind a small asteroid just as a blue blast went through where the shuttle had been a moment earlier. The shuttle weaved a course through the asteroids, and red bolts lanced out, vaporizing asteroids. A blue bolt nicked one side of the shuttle, and suddenly he was losing power, and his curses redoubled. And suddenly he was in the clear, the asteroids behind him, no sign of the 400 meter long ship that had pursued him. He finally let out his breath, though he didn't know he had been holding it...then the largest asteroid behind him exploded, and the ship continued in its pursuit. Tolok cursed yet again, and engaged the warp drive. Failure- one of the warp engines wasn't responding. The blue bolt must have knocked it out. He diverted more power, but still nothing. Finally he put shields and weapon into the warp drive, and engaged it. Power went into the warp engines, but they lagged and at first nothing happened. Blue bolts shot off the 400 meter long ship, hurtling at the shuttle. Just as Tolok was sure his shuttle was going to be destroyed, the warp engines engaged, and the shuttle shot forward, the bolts flying through where he had been.
Jason Beddoes was NOT in a good mood. The shuttle had escaped, giving whoever lived here, possibly an enemy, a knowledge of them beforehand. Furthermore he had had to send one of his two escort Carrack cruisers back into the wormhole to ask for a ship to tow the large derelict ship back through the wormhole, so he was down to the Patriot and a Carrack cruiser. He sent the Carrack cruiser, the Mandate, to scan the nearby systems and map jump points in one direction, and the Patriot went in another. Unbekownst to Capt. Beddoes, his ship was heading toward the Romulan Star Empire, and the Mandate was headed for the area in space known as the United Federation of Planets.
