USS Sid Meier Currently Assigned to Explore Galaxy Arm
Captain Griffith turned to his science officer. “Lieutenant Reed, I hope you have found something; this trip is getting tedious.” The Reed turned the Captain, obviously excited. “Yes sir, there is a structure made of stone on the planet. It is approximately 30 meters by 30 meters, Pyramidal shape, and an obvious entrance. No unnatural signatures of any kind.” Turning to his security officer, who for the past week had been practically begging him for a planet to take his men down to for a change of scenery, and smiled. “Mister Carlton, take a team down to the planet.” Nodding, he walked over to the turbolift and entered. As the doors closed, he looked up the ceiling, a habit he had, and spoke. “Computer please notify Ensigns Anderson, Jones, Davies, and two other random security personnel that they have been drafted for away team duty.” “Acknowledged. Ensigns Anderson, Jones, Davies, Reeder, and Tabor have been notified of their away team assignments.” The lift stopped, and Lt. Carlton walked the short distance to the transporter room, stopping by an equipment room to pick up three flashlights. The transporter room doors opened as he approached the doorway. Entering, he saw Reeder and Tabor talking with the transporter technician. They turned and at the sound of the doors, and walked over for a flashlight. “Where are Anderson, Jones and Davies?” A look of horror came over the two ensigns faces. Reeder was the first to speak, “We have to go with them?” This was followed shortly by a moaning from Tabor. Carlton nodded quietly. “Yes, but they do point. And if we die won’t you feel better knowing that they aren’t…” He was cut off by the door opening and the three Ensigns entering the transporter room. With everybody there, they stepped on the pad. The transporter tech ran his fingers up the sliders and watched the six men disappear from the ship.

Planet Side, 5 meters form entrance of Pyramid.
Lt Carlton looked at the rest of the team. They all appeared to have survived the transport. “Jones, Anderson, Davies; you have point. When Jones turned around to complain, he was met with a flying flashlight, which he barely managed to catch. Sighing, he started walking, followed by Anderson, Davies and the other three men. The entrance to the Pyramid was actually a long hallway leading to the main structure. As they trudged down the hallway, the sand gradually gave way to stone. After five minuets of walking they came to a giant doorway. Jones after a minuet of looking at the door pressed the circle in the middle of the wall. The door split the circle down the middle, opening to a chamber with a structure in it. The team walked toward it, the three circles of light playing over the walls and domed roof. When they got to the center of the room they saw that the structure was a slanted board covered with buttons. Easily hundreds of them all blank, except one. On that one was etched a weird figure. There was a diamond, with the long was horizontal. The upper point had a rectangle leading to an elongated octagon. Above the octagon were two circles that were connected to the octagon by lines. As if one, Jones, Anderson, and Davies reached out and pressed the button.

Deep inside the planet a power generator stirred. The first action it did was to send a pulse of energy up a conduit to the button. A properly maintained one would have withstood the energy, even though it was three times more than normal. This ancient one however, was destroyed as the energy passed, sealing the tube behind it. The energy contacted the flesh of the three fingers and started a process never seen by anyone in the galaxy.

While it started at the finger, the effect quickly encompassed the whole body, stripping the flesh and organs away layer by layer. As this was happening, the power generator sent a large but brief stream of energy out to a point in space, before slowing energy production down; await the next sentient that pressed a button.

The energy got to a point and space and just stopped, reacting with what was rapidly becoming a wormhole. Captain Griffith watched as the wormhole open, not knowing that the energy was burrowing through space-time to another galaxy.
