Fanfic Characters

Perhaps, for those who like to surprise our friends with personal characters in fanfics, we should go ahead and post brief character biographies...
...Or should things be left vague so that everyone can write characters as they are needed to fit the stories?
Another idea might be to post a basic preferred description, and provide ideas as either an Imperial, Rebel, or Bounty Hunter character to be used as needed?

Although this is completely off-topic, I was wondering - what do people consider to be the best fanfics around here? I was afraid to start a thread on it.
As for putting friends in a fanfic, why spoil surprises? When you work with characters that have already been layered out, you have to conform the story to them, which is why I hate working with real characters. I perfer making up my own stuff.

I'm mostly thinking of if people want to write a particular character but can't think of any way to write it; or maybe someone wants to write but has a block, and reading the quirky characters here might spark something.
As to the best fanfics, well, there are many different categories: we've got "Vs./Crossover", Original, Comedy, Porno, and some Fantasy/Horror....

I mean, the best individual stories, not genres.

Using friends (and enimies) as names and bases for people in fanfics is one of the best things you can do. I remeber the first fanfic i decided to try and write, a follow up to Raise the Titanic (i'm sad, i know). I'd just started at a new school so didn't know many people. To get names i just asked people in the computer room what their names were. I stopped because people started giving me dirty looks. I made sure i had some names ready before i tried writing another fanfic.

Actually being on-topic(gasp!), any fic involving SirNitram should include his tendency to blast people with powerful psudeonatural blasts. Be they Force Lightning, an E-web attached to a powersuit, or just really powerful magic.
As for putting people you know in fics? I do it all the time. Mostly cause I suck at names.

Biography of me...
60,000,000 year + star consuming alien with god like power.
That pretty much covers it.

Brief biography for fanfic characters based on me:
name: Adam Davison, aka. 2000AD, Reaperman.
Age: 18, or whatever you feel like
Basic description: black hair (short back and sides), hazel eyes, average height, average weight, cool moustache and goatee. (used to have tache and goat but due to public demand shaved them off. I've missed them)
personality: smooooothhh (with a capital Smoo), a bit lazy, handles stress well, tends to keep people at a distance
preferable features (pick and mix or just ignore): a cool scar, psychic powers, good looking girlfriend, martial arts
Please don't give me(for the love of god don't ignore) : A ponytail, Arminius style farm yard animal loving tendencies, a minging girlfriend, lots of kids, a crappy death with no point, anything that you wouldn't inflict on your worst enemy.

A character based on me...
Hmmm, should go one of two ways:
1) Pilot/trooper with nothing to lose and one fucker of a bad attitude who dies in a spectacular fashion.
2) Political figure, knows how to play the game and use the system.

1) Skilled assassin.
2) Political commissar, simultaneously a true believer and a pragmatist.
Both characters would be smartasses.

A character based on me:
Young, poor eyesight, black hair and moustache, no beard, brown eyes. Looks somewhat of a blend of Hispanic and Oriental (and I'm not either one of those
). About 5'10", 155lbs. Long, slender hands, relatively lightly built. Tends to be either a philosopher type or an intelligence officer (according to the ASVAB, I should be in cryptography...and definitely NOT auto mechanics
). That should about cover it.

Make sure I'm sex crazed. Above all else I'm sex crazed. I'm also cynical. Force attacks are a plus, as are egg-based weaponry.

A character based on me should be:
-a bit melancholic and sarcastic
-calm
-ruthless, but not too much (you have to draw a line somewhere, according to the D&D test I'm lawful evil after all)
-Captain of a warship if possible
looks is not important, but I've got brown hair, blue eyes and I'm 1.78m high.

by Asst. Asst. Lt. Cmdr. Smi
A character based on me should be about 1.75 meters tall, around 18 or 19 (I'm younger in real life), thin, and on a starship with an absurdly low rank. Also, I'm a shyer person, not good at public speaking, and have a short attention span. Possibly, I could be force choked to death for not doing something right.

A character based on me would be pretty intelligent, 1.78 m tall, have a weakness for anything in skirts, be very loyal to his friends, ruthlessly smack his foes down, hate idiots and infantile brats, love guns, girls, anime, more girls, manga, even more girls, game, yet MORE girls (are you sensing a pattern here?), enjoy listening to music/eating/sleeping/some of the above at once/ all of the above at once and swearing.
Yeah, that's the ticket.
EDIT: Fights using magic and an ashanderei-type of weapon. An exponent in the art of modifying his spells.
Is currently wandering around being bored.

An assassin. (come on, you didn't see this coming?) He's a cold, distant guy during his jobs, and fights like a demon. In between jobs, he's a womanizer (I've got a HRD body now, remember?) and might occaisionally question why he continues his line of work. He uses a lightsaber or an energizable katana (see OTF 'what color lightsaber' thread for more info) in combat, along with various blasters and other weapons.
He has fairly dark hair, down to about his shoulders when tied, blue eyes, and often wears dark clothing.

Codename: "Coyote"
Real Name: Arik deValmet
6ft., avg. build, fit, likes reading, being outdoors, working out. Writes fictionin spare time, sometimes publishing in small fan circles.
As an Imperial, I'd be a Scout Trooper who loves to bomb people with thermal detonators while flying by. The E-11 would be my preferred shootin' iron. I'd love the planets and travelling, seeing every new duty station as a working shore leave. I'd feel cramped and restless on the ship for too long.
As a Rebel, Bounty Hunter or Mercenary I'd be a cammo-wearing grunt, specialized in Imperial weapons, techniques, and tactics. I'd try to get Scout armor and paint it cammo, and again I'd prefer the E-11 with a DL-44 backup.
As a well-off Bounty Hunter I'd have a heavily modified pieced-together surplus old Naboo Cruiser, armed to the teeth and with a Firespray's minelayer included. I'd get an R2 Astromech and a Geonosian-made rebuilt Trade Fed BattleDroid as a pilot and guard (also to translate for the R2 unit). The Droid would probably also carry an E-11. The ship would be called "Canis Major" and have a speeder bike stowed.
"Coyote" is interested in Twi'Lek girls, 'cause he's seen them dance and heard thay can do amazing things with their lekku and wants to find out for himself....

by Master of Ossus
A character based on me would likely be someone who supported other characters, rather than directly participating and taking charge. He would likely give advice when he knew how, and would avoid taking risks unless absolutely necessary. I suppose that I could make a reasonable librarian in the Jedi Temple, or a mentor for a younger figure, but I don't think that I would do well as the centerpoint for a story. Poor mechanically, the Master of Ossus would quickly and permanently learn a great deal of information and be able to see connections between things that others may miss.
I could also make a good law-enforcement officer, or even a bounty-hunter with someone else to provide the muscle.
