Star Wars Fanfic: The True Rebellion

Date: Three years before A New Hope(3y<ANH)
The Imperator class Star Destroyer Mildly Aggressive casually proceeded along its patrol path in the Borung Sector. Universally referred to as "The Boring Sector" by every race that got the joke, Borung was perhaps the least remarkable Sector in the entirety of the Galactic Empire. Among other un-noteworthy attributes, they possessed the record for the least fighting occured during the Clone Wars(none), least Jedi Knights ever located within their territory(6 during a 25,000 year period, none of them remarkable), least reaction to the changeover from the Republic(It took 3 weeks and a visit from an Imperial Advisor for them to change the flags at the Sector Capital), and the possession of most boring planet known in the galaxy(Corvis Minor, which was already becoming a watchword among investigators searching through libraries for hidden information).
Regarded as a dead-end assignment, the Sector was continuously kept at the absolute minimum strength allowed under Imperial Regulations, barely two-thirds of what would be assigned to a normal, "peaceful" Sector. The only real protection it had from pirates and Rebels was the fact that most of them had never heard of it, and those that had thought it was either a myth, a joke, or possibly both.
Captain Apath Iruled of the Imperial Navy sat in his command chair, waiting for his shift to end(4 hours 27 minutes 30 seconds), his retirement(17 years, 5 months, 12 days), and his body to finally quit on him(hopefully sooner). Once again, he silently cursed the Imperial Bureacracy for their solution to the shortage of ship names available during the fleets rapid expansion. They could have recycled the names with a number or letter following the ship's title, or they could have used languages other than Basic. Instead, some faceless git had suggested that all ship names be preceded with a descriptive title, and some other schmuck had decided to have computers randomly generate the results. He could only thank the Emperor that "Syphilitic" had been removed from the approved list, otherwise he might have been forced to commit suicide on his first training voyage.
Suddenly, an unfamiliar sound was heard from the communications board, causing the rating there to drop the copy of "Rebel Whores" he'd been hiding behind a technical manual on the deck. It took him a few seconds to register that it was coming from his panel, and several more to recall its meaning.
"Captain, we are receiving an emergency signal from a ship under attack!"
The entire bridge crew stared at the rating in disbelief, and several officers quietly pinched themselves.
"A bulk freighter carrying industrial machinery reports that a small capital ship has fired upon them, demanding that they surrender immediately."
Captain Iruled narrowed his eyes, and demanded "They specifically signaled us?"
"No sir! They sent out an omni-directional signal. It was extemely broken up when we received it, and our computers had to piece it together"
"Navigation, plot us a hyper jump to their location immediately, sound General Quarters"
Throughout the mile long hull, sirens blared, and individual communicators started signaling their owners. Crewmembers rushed for their stations, as the shield generators went to full combat strength for the first time in a year. The ship leapt into hyperspace, only to leap out 30 seconds later.
"Captain, sensors report a heavily modified Corellian Corvette in close proximity to a Bulk Freighter. The Freighter has a shuttle of some sort grappled to the hull. Both ships are within fring arc of our primary armaments, and-"
"Incoming Fire!"
A bolt of green energy hurled towards the ISD, closely followed by several more.
"Captain, the Corvette seems to have been rebuilt around a light Planetary Turbolaser, If allowed to fire unopposed, it could knock out our forward shields within 10 minutes.
" Other Threats?
"Nothing detected within range sir, there are scattered asteroid clusters, but no power signatures."
"Divert all shield energy to the angle of attack, prepare all weapons for fire, but as soon as their shields drop, discontinue turbolaser bombardment, I want to know who these people are before we execute them."
"Yes sir."
On board the corvette, a sensor officer nervously looked over his scanners. Upon detecting the shift in the ISD's shield strength, he sent an omnidirectional signal. On two dozen asteroids behind the Mildly Aggressive the signal was received, and passive sensors took in the scene before them. Chemical explosives detonated, revealing over-sized gun barrels. Twenty-Four KDY 150 Planet Defender Ion Cannons tracked the wedge in front of them, and went to continuous rapid fire.
Given the limitations of the static weapons, four of them were unable to achieve clear firing angles. Of the twenty that fired, half missed the target entirely with their first shot, and of the ten that hit, only four hit directly upon their intended targets. Fotunately, this was twice the needed accuracy for the first stage to succeed.
The first warning the Imperial crew had was two Ion cannon bolts simultaneously impacting upon the back of the bridge tower, followed a millisecond later by two more hitting the main hypermatter reactor. The failsafes functioned perfectly, shutting down the hypermatter core as soon as control was interrupted, shifting power draw over to rely upon the auxiliaries, and preparing for a system restart. Which really was a pity, as the next volley eviscerated the control systems fot the backup power supply, and the backup's backup. At this point, the Ion cannons, now fully active, shifted to firing upon targets of opportunity on the Star Destroyer's hull. Among other things, the Inertial Compensaors were rendered useless, and just before they died, the engines switched off due to another fail-safe.
Now drifting above his command deck, illuminated only by personal flashlights, Captain Iruled reflected that there were much worse things than merely being bored out of one's skull.
At this point, a message started to repeat itself on everyone's personal comm. "Surrender immediately, and no one has to die"
Iruled turned on his communicator, and snapped "what do you think you are going to do, take this ship hand to hand? You couldn't possibly have enough crew aboard that ship to-"
At that moment, everyone on board the Star Destroyer slammed to the deck, under at least 2 Gs worth of pressure, which steadily started to increase.
Conversationally, the voice continued "Surrender immediately, and no one else has to die. Fail to comply, and you will all be dead within 10 minutes anyway. I recommend you respond quickly, before you can no longer move enough to activate your communicators. Your inertial compensators are completely off-line, and my ship is providing your gravity at the moment."
A minute passed, as crewmen attempted to struggle to their stations against the ever increasing pull, before Captain Iruled thumbed his comm, and said "fine, you win, we surrender"
Instantly, the gravity stopped increasing.
"A wise decision captain, would you mind repeating it to your crew, and adding that any resistance will result in the deaths of all on board your ship?"
"Now hear this, this is Captain Apath Iruled speaking. Stand down and prepare to be boarded, I have surrendered this vessel, as we have no hope of successfully resisting, or even appreciably harming our enemies. Since he seems so determined to keep us alive, we can at least screw up his supply situation by forcing him to feed fifty thousand of us for the forseeable future."
More than an hour passed, before the door activated, and the crew heard the sounds of clanking footsteps, and the distinctive sounds of blasterfire set on stun. Steadily, methodically, unaffected by the still increased gravity, the combat droids moved throughout the bridge, stunning everyone they found. The last thing Captain Iruled saw was the barrel of a blaster rifle, and blue lightning washing over him. TBC?

Very amusing. I love title of the ISD...I guess they would run out of tough sounding names after a while. Maybe the flagship SSD is called "Snore" or something . I Like the fic!

Chapter 1: It is too late for the pebble to vote
A cancer spread unnoticed through the Borung sector( soon to be universally referred to as the Moron Sector). Deepdock 17935-B calmly authorised the approach of the Mildly Aggressive, and the brief interruption in their standard message traffic went unnoticed. The ISDs Whiny Aggravator, Unknown Avenger, Slight Unpleasantness, Sorta Relentless, Peaceful Destroyer, and Polite Slaughter all set courses to rendezvous with the Deepdock upon receiving information regarding defective shipboard components, as did their escorts. If anyone paid attention to the slightly mechanical responses and messages sent afterwards, they put it down to too much time in-Sector, and just added a friendly suggestion to take some leave time in their next reply.
Meanwhile, some overly enthusiastic and hypocritical malcontents signed something called the Corellian Treaty, drawing much attention from Imperial Intelligence, and a gradual redeployment of Imperial Navy assets Coreward in general, and in the direction of Alderaan specifically. The possibility of depleting the strength of backwater areas in general, and the Borung Sector in particular was discussed at length, but it was decided that a certain level of force should be kept up, even if a single platoon of COMPNOR trainees seemed sufficient to maintain the peace throughout the area.
At this point, certain previously named Imperial vessels in the Borung Sector began cracking down on the private shipping in the area, demanding that any vessel that came anywhere near them heave to for customs inspection. An astounding majority of the vessels shook down departed the Borung Sector for parts unknown soon thereafter, often reneging oon contracts to do so. When queried, they gave a reply to the effect of: too much hassle, this isn't what I moved into this Sector for, and vanished without a trace. When ordered to stop their behavior, the ships in question complied, and then started attempting to set up tactical exercises in conjunction with other Imperial units. Sector Command put this behavior down to an extreme reaction against the constant boredom, and authorised any wargames that wouldn't deplete the Sector Naval Budget. This one decision later resulted in more executions than every other screwup that occured in the Borung Sector combined.
At an Undisclosed Location:
Captain Apath Iruled slowly regained consciousness, only to find that he was tied down to a flat table of some type, with various tubes stuffed into uncomfortable places. A medical droid quickly and efficiently removed the tubes, then quietly exited the room. Iruled swiftly assessed his surroundings, some kind of rudimentary medical bay, the only non-standard thing he could find was the man sitting next to him, in the uniform of an Imperial Admiral.
"Who the hell are you, and what is the meaning of this?" Iruled growled, after a second's thought adding "What have you done with my crew"
"You can refer to me as 'Maverick'" the man replied, "And this is meant to be the opening stage of a revolution that will end in the Emperor's death, and the establishment of the stable and sane government that should have replaced the Republic in the first place. Your crew are well, except for the 37 that died as a direct result of my takeover, and the 26 that commited suicide in one way or another. The survivors are in suspended animation, and you will forgive me if I don't map out their exact locations for you."
"So why go to the trouble of waking me up and telling me all of that?"
Maverick smirked,"Well, I was rather hoping to convince you to join my side."

Chapter 1(continued)
"All right, convince me" Iruled said, rolling his eyes
"Well, I could appeal to your patriotism, pointing out that the Emperor's actions will inevitably destroy the Empire you hold so dear. I might attempt to call upon your basic decency, detailing the depressingly numerous atrocities that Palpatine has perpetrated. However, mainly I'm going to rely on the bomb that I've had implanted in your skull, and try to gradually bring you around to my viewpoint."
At this point, Maverick thumbed a remote, and Iruled felt a rhythmic buzzing sensation near the base of his skull.
Iruled's jaw hung open for a few seconds before he gathered his wits sufficiently to reply, "So, how exactly are we going to defeat the evil Emperor anyway? I really don't see myself as being much use strapped to a table for the entire campaign."
At this point, the medical droid reentered the room with a uniform that Iruled recognised as one of his own, and proceeded to unstrap him.
"Well, first we are going to attack the Empire as rapidly as possible, to gain war materials and additional ships. Then, once our shock value has worn off, we are going to provoke them into attacking my secret base with overwhelming force. Until I am sure that you aren't going to attempt something stupid, you will be accompanied at all times by your aide, CD-139D. Give the captain his preliminary briefing Cid."
The door opened again, and a top of the line bodyguard droid stepped in.
"I am CD-139D, Traitor Prevention Relations. If you attempt to utilise a communicator in an unauthorised way, you will be shot. If you attempt to use any conveyance to escape, you will be shot. If you attempt any act of sabotage not directed at Imperial Forces, you will be shot. Any effort to organise a mutiny will get you shot. If you butt in line at the cafeteria, you will be shot in a non-fatal location, and then sent to the back of the line. If you attempt to commit suicide, you will be shot. If you succeed at commiting suicide, we will desecrate your corpse, and send pictures to your family. If you erase the Admiral's holovideo collection, you will be suspended in a bacta tank with electricity running through it, then shot, then sodomised by a Wookie. There are three rules to obey if you want to live, Do What Your Told, Don't be Stupid, And if You Fuck Up, tell someone and do your best to fix it."
"I just have two questions Admiral. One, where is your holovideo collection so I can stay well away fom it, and two, Cid?"
"Its easier than remembering specific designations, and their auditory sensors can easily determine which ones you are attempting to communicate with, and my collection is in my personal quarters, and you'll forgive me if I refrain from drawing you a map of its precise location either. Cid will show you to your quarters, and familiarise you with basic procedures and your responsibilities. Dismissed."
"Sir, permission to get dressed first?"
"Only if you must Captain."

Chapter 2: Hey, what's that rumbling noise I hear?
Posted: 2002-12-30 01:17am
by consequences
It started with no warning. A ship would send an emergency distress signal, only to be gone when Imperial Forces arrived. A small convoy would be be rapidly overwhelmed by superior firepower. An out of the way colony would huddle behind their planetary shield as every artificial satellite in their orbit was systematically and efficiently looted, and often towed out of the system. An unarmed freighter would be disabled by a starfighter squadron, and boarded by their accompanying assault shuttle. A lone escort would rapidly succumb to the weaponry of three or more attackers, often surrendering rather than die. A pair of Carrack escorts, surrounded by a dozen in-system patrol craft, came under assault by six Dreadnaught frigates and twenty custom modified Corellian Gunships. The exit vectors all pointed towards Alderaan, and the Dreadnaughts carried markings of the Katana fleet, to the great consternation of Imperial Intelligence. On the rare occasions that the Imperial Navy responded in time, the attackers immediately broke off and hypered out.
Regional Moff Eaton looked up in disgust as his aide brought in even more reports of attacks. "Exactly what have we accomplished in the last two weeks?" he demanded.
"Sir, we have analysed all of the attacks, and correlated them with known Rebel activity, and we are reasonably certain that the-"
"So we still know nothing of use"
"Well sir, we are sure that the Hutts aren't behind this, and we have not traced the operations to Black Sun in any way, and-"
Imperial Aide Greg Ellis was interrupted by the sudden detonation of his head. Moff Eaton calmly reholstered his blaster, and then activated his intercom. "Send up a cleaning droid and another aide, hopefully one with more sense than a brain-damaged Gamorrean."
The door opened, and Flag Admiral Hall stepped in, looked at the body, and then calmly pulled a chair in front of the Moff's desk, placing a hundred credits in front of the Moff before sitting.
"I was wrong, he did have brains in his head, even if he didn't use them. No useful developments?" Hall inquired.
"Nothing remotely of use. Whoever they are, they react to our movements like they wrote the manual on anti-piracy patrolling. The only thing going for us right now is that our forces are arriving faster on the scene than those of any other Regions, so the raiders aren't successfully carrying off as much. We don't have enough ships, and whoever these people are, they are shifting targeted sectors every day. You?"
"I've shifted half of our stategic reserve to provide increased coverage to various likely targets, but until we start receiving Interdictors in useful quantities, we aren't going to be able to decisively engage them. We need to find their bases, but I don't have the ships to cover what I need to even before I start prying up every rock between here and the Outer Rim. It looks like we're just going to have to take it for the time being.
"Sithspit"
************************
Reserve Station 9236
"All of them?" The lieutenant commander exclaimed
"Yes, we have a priority order to move the ships to repair facilities in order to bring them back into service. You may have heard something about the increased Rebel activity of late, its been decided that we need to increase fleet strength as quickly as possible, and that means reactivating the Reserves.
"But sir, these ships are antiques, we haven't used these models in thousands of years! To be honest, there were a couple of times I thought the Navy had forgotten about us out here.
"Are you questioning my orders, Commander?" The Imperial Admiral growled.
"N-n-n-n-no sir!"
"Good. For secrecy reasons, the fleet is still here, and nothing out of the ordinary has happened. We must take the enemy by surprise, and if I find out that you or your crew leaked, I will bring the matter to the personal attention of Lord Vader, is that clear?"
"Y-y-y-yes sir!"
"Good."
******************************
Weeks passed, as the Empire attempted to locate its assailant. With brutal effectiveness, the Imperial Security Bureau interrogated every being with even a hint of Rebel sympathies, learning a hell of a lot about the movement Mon Mothma and Bail Organa were creating, but nothing about this new foe. Incidentally, people trying to join the "Rebel Alliance" after having a friend or relative roughed up were quite common in the following months, tripling the ISB's workload. Against the Empire as a whole, or even an individual sector, the attacks were pinpricks, but they served to truly piss off the Emperor, and his sycophantic court swiftly learned to be pissed about it too. The Fleet moved to exhaustively search the galaxy, but even in the Core, the ratio of unpopulated to populated systems was at least fifty to one. Numerous "Rebel" bases were found, and assaulted, but none of the prisoners taken knew anything about the mysterious attackers.
Ambushes were attempted, but even when a target was correctly guessed, the raiders broke off immediately. Several fighters were disabled in one ambush, only to self-destruct at the first touch of a tractor beam. This state of affairs continued for several months, as fleet strength rapidly mounted, and more systems were tentatively identified as "it looks clear".
***********************
Flag Admiral Hall strode in with a distinct bounce in his step, to declare "Moff Eaton, I think we've found it."
"Explain."
"One of our reconnaisance patrols just reported in sir, in the Endymion Sector. They located a very weak signal leakage, and when they moved to investigate the planet, a full shield slammed into place around it. They are currently holding position outside of effective range of any ground-based weapons that may be present, and are awaiting further instructions. Our reserves are already moving into position for an assault."
Moff Eaton then activated his Holo-Comm, and the hologram of a Grand Moff sprang into being in front of him a moment later.
"What is it?"
"My lord, we have located a hostile planetary stronghold, that may be the base of our attackers. My forces are already moving into position, and we shall be ready to attack within the day."
"Hold your forces outside of the system, and send all information to High Admiral Hesab Igdick, he will carry out the attack, as he has a surprise or two in store for this Rebel Scum."
"Yes milord."

Sounds like a trap, or a massive cockup by the True Rebellion. As for the mothballed fleet, it would be a vast oversight for the True Rebellion to miss them
Another good addition, fairly good quality dialogue. You've kept the infodumps to a minimum which is good.

ROFLMAO,
I love this one. The character names are brilliant (my favourite has to be Moff Eaton
although Hesab Igdick and Apath Iruled are great too) as are the starship names; gotta love Sorta Relentless, what a great name for a ship!!
I particularly like the fact that the Real Rebellion actually has a grasp of tactics - moreso than the Imperials or the "other" Rebeliion ever showed.
Please add more, and soon or we will set Cid upon you (with attached Wookie for sodomising purposes
)

"Admiral, they've located Base Omega!"
Maverick looked up from his paperwork, musing: "This early? Very good Moff Eaton."
Upon hearing this, Apath Iruled started choking on his coffee. As soon as he recovered, he rasped "Moff Eaton?! You set up your hidden base in the Astraea Region?!"
"Yes."
"Are you fucking insane?!!!"
Absently, Maverick tapped his rank insignia.
"Are you fucking insane Sir?! The man is a lunatic! The only man who beat him out in the 'Which commanding officer would make you shit yourself more' poll was Darth Vader. Just shoot me now." he said to CD-139D
"Okay"
"Belay that Cid" Maverick said without looking up
"Darn" the droid replied, powering down its blaster
Maverick activated his comm unit and snapped "Tactical, initiate Omega One Alpha, and get me an analysis on likely immediate Imperial response."
"Sir, closest Imperial response units of the appropriate size are commanded by High Admirals Hesab Igdick and Wattasch Muck, and current odds are running two to one against you having pissed the Emperor off enough to get both of them. Do you want in on the pool Sir? Current strength for Operation Mayhar stands at 38 India units, 1 Alpha unit, and 227 Foxtrots, all currently ready to move out."
"Good, prepare for immediate rendezvous with the Fleet, and put me down for 1000 credits on Hesab Igdick without reinforcements." Maverick deactivated his comm, and turned to Iruled, saying "Let's go Captain."
******************
In system AE-15392, the unchanging void of space was interrupted by a crapload of pointy things suddenly appearing headed towards the fourth planet. 250 Imperators, 36 Allegiance class light cruisers, a dozen Shockwave heavy cruisers, 2 Vengeance class battlecruisers, surrounded by four thousand lesser craft, and accompanied by a 17 kilometer monstrosity with Deathdealer emblazoned across the side in hundred meter tall letters.
"What the hell, the Executors weren't supposed to enter active fleet service for at least three more months." Moff Eaton said, shocked, as he watched the image that his scout ships were transmitting from outside the system.
"So what, what I want to know is where the hell I can get one?" Admiral Hall replied beside him.
Deathdealer transmitted a omnidirectional signal on all available frequencies "This is High Admiral Igdick of the Imperial Navy. Surrender immediately, and your executions will be merely unbearably horrible"
A reply was instantly sent to the planet; "Oh, it is the Empire, with their huge penis. We Rebels have only very small, tiny penis, so small. You Imperials have mammoth gargantuan penis. What can we Rebels do with our miniscule penis. We are in awe of your giganic, Imperial Penis. We will surrender imediate- Wait a second, hold up. Your led by Hesab Igdick? He's hung like a baby carrot. Sorry, we're just going to have to fight you. If you could do us a favor though, we're going to hit you with some really big weapons, and we don't think there will be enough left of your smaller ships to put together an accurate kill count sfter the battle. If you could send those away, so our gunner's bragging rights don't get muddled, we'd really appreciate it."
At this point, the Imperial fleet broke apart, with the lightest vessels moving to form a picket globe around the planet. The majority of the larger vessels inverted themselves relative to the planet's surface, presenting their heaviest guns. In an intricate ballet, the smaller ships moved to cover the largers' hulls, while leaving the arcs of fire for the heaviest guns clear.
*****************
"Huh, he's going for an attritional siege assault, well, Dicky never really did give a shit about his casualty counts." Hall snorted.
"Get Billy in here." Moff Eaton ordered his aide. "Popcorn?"
"Thanks" Hall replied, taking a handful.
The Moff's senior technical specialist, Billy, entered the room. "Yes Boss?"
"Sit down Billy, I think we may need you to interpret for us."
"Sure thing boss"
Simultaneously, all three felt a sudden chill, and muttered, "I have a bad feeling about this," looked up in shock at the others, and then shrugged.
*****************************
On the planet's surface, near the main shield generator, 20 mountain tops cracked open, revealing a KDY v-150 Planetary Ion Cannon and w-165 Planetary Turbolaser on each. All forty guns oriented on the approaching fleet, and then simultaneously opened fire. Streaking unimpeded through the atmosphere and shield, the energy bolts vented their enormous energies on three Loronar Strike Cruisers, utterly obliterating them. The Imperial fleet opened fire, but the Shield shrugged off its initial salvos with ease. Imperial Captains ordered fire focused upon the guns, hoping to penetrate during the brief interval the shield would have to have an opening for outgoing fire to escape. To their dismay, they found that a smaller shield was in place under the main planetary one, that repulsed their efforts without apparent strain. The Imperial fleet launched all available fighters with the heaviest missile load possible, which they then flung at the planet. The fleet continued to fire all available weapons, but this did nothing to slow the steady, relentless annihilation of their lighter units.
******************************
"Billy?"
"Well, they clearly set up the theater and planetary shields with direct links to the fire control computers of the cannon. From the damage done by those cannon, I'd say they are overloading them, trading off lifespan for a bigger punch now, and risking potential catastrophic failure. The main problem is that they are probably using the planet as an immense heatsink to bleed off the energy hitting them, and since they don't have a planetary population to worry about keeping alive, they can get away with that for a lot longer than an inhabited planet could."
"Time to shield failure?"
"Less than a half hour, but at least half of the smaller ships will be gone by then."
"What a kriffing waste. Their is no fire coming from other sites, Igdick could have opened a hole on the other side and then sent a ground assault in, or just slowly turned the planet to rubble. Stupid impatient fuckwit." Hall pointed out, "He's losing all of those men and ships for nothing."
"Hold on, it looks like those rebels are planning some sort of breakout, there's ships massing underneath the shield."
**************************
The Imperial fleet moved closer in to the planet, planning to intercept any vessels before they could make the jump to hyperspace, ignoring the burning remnant of the ships still being destroyed by ground fire. The hundreds of ships underneath the shield, mostly transports of various sizes, spread out, clearly looking for a way out that wouldn't result in their death or capture, but staying underneath the shield. The six hundred Imperial ships that had been englobing the world at a distance moved in close, each shadowing a transport.
************************
The view of the battle split, An Imperial captain taking up half of the viewer.
"Moff Eaton, you must contact the High Admiral immediately, we've detected something moving at high speeds in-system with no emissions signature toward the main concentration of his fleet, we've tried communicating, but his comm officers keep stepping on us."
Suddenly, everything clicked into place for Moff Eaton, and he activated the priority signal to Admiral Igdick; "Admiral, it's a trap, you must remove your fleet at once!"
"Too late" Admiral Hall observed morosely.
************************
Without warning, the Planetary shield rapidly expanded, sweeping the Imperial fleet before it, overloading their shields and making their formation a jumbled mess. The shield failed, but not before stripping the defenses of the Imperial Armada, causing numerous collisions, and completely annihilating the inbound fighter strike. Hard on the heels of the shield wave, the transports lunged simultaneously for the ships shadowing them, ramming into them and detonating. The planetary defense weaponry went into continuous rapid fire upon the remaining ships, just as C-fractional asteroids started bombarding them from behind. Due to its 'protected' position in the back of the Imperial fleet, the Deathdealer absorbed more of the inbound projectiles than any other ship. Then, to cap it all off, a small fleet of starfighters and light capital ships emerged from hyperspace and began attack runs, leading the way with magnepulse cluster bombs. Forty-two Corellian gunships and corvettes blazed suicidal paths through the heart of the fleet, disregarding the asteroids that were still impacting upon the Imperials and the planets surface. A dozen Bulk Cruisers poured fire ino the Deathdealer's belly, steadily taking losses to defensive fire, until the last two heavily damaged ships jumped to hyper directly at it, the debris from one of their impacts punching directly through the ship to pepper the hull of the Vengeance class battlecruiser Reciprocity. Over two hundred starfighters emptied their missile bays, and then dashed in at a ship's hull only to attempt to pull to a stop at the last instant. Quite often they failed, and exploded against their target's armor, but the survivors clamped onto the ship's surface, pouring fire into any visible target until scraped off by Spacetroopers scrambled onto the hull. The Corellian ships continued their mad run through the fleet, using their tractors to slingshot around their larger opponents. As soon as the majority of them met their ends from defensive fire, asteroid hits, or unintentional ramming, the last ten came about and flung themselves at the Deathdealers burning hull. For several seconds the ship held together, before secondary explosions ripped down the hull, tearing the ship apart, just as the Theater shield finally failed from continued asteroid strikes, and the base underneath was vaporised.
Five seconds later, Fleet elements originally dispatched by Flag Admiral Hall arrived, and immediately began rescue operations. The battle of AE-15392 was over. The Empire had won, all opposition having been destroyed, and they held the system. 2500 frigates, 47 ISDs, 5 Allegiance light cruisers, and the DeathDealer were lost, and the rest of the fleet was horribly damaged. Those ships with functioning engines and hyperdrives towed the other ships that could be salvaged until they were clear of the debris fields, upon which they leapt into hyperspace towards the late Admiral Igdick's mobile repair elements.

Apologies for the enormous delay, the muse has not been with me, and on top of that there have been numerous disruptions of my ersonal life, and not nearly enough computer access lately. This fic has not been abandoned, and i will hopefully update it later tonight if my workload doesn't interfere excessively.

One, it wasn't just a death threat, it was a promise of death.
Two, Captain Iruled is a realist, not an uber-Imperial patriot.

Chapter 4: Boulders Keep Falling On My Head
Time: Three days after the Battle of Milord Emperor They Whupped Our Arse(previously known as the The Battle of AE-15392 prior to the official change of designation by Moff Eaton)
Location: Moff Eaton's office
"So," Moff Eaton said, massaging his temples, "let's review."
"Well, they have an incredible degree of coordination between their forces," Admiral Hall began.
"They use large amounts of automation, far exceeding anything the Imperial navy would ever consider implementing, even for suicide missions," Billy added.
"They are very economical in their attacks, prior to this battle, every action they have engaged in resulted in a net gain in their capabilities," Hall continued.
"And they are willing to make extraordinary sacrifices, apparently casually, in order to inflict severe damage to our forces, if this last engagement is any indication." Billy concluded.
"That's the problem," Moff Eaton mused, "This last action doesn't fit into their established pattern. If they were trying to cripple ships to tie up our repair yards, they could have easily savaged the fleet for a fraction of the effort they put into ensuring Deathdealer's destruction. If they wanted to destroy ships outright, again, they could have ignored Deathdealer, and eliminated entirely many more ships to create a larger naval vacuum in which to operate. What they did resulted in Deathdealer being destroyed, and not enough damage to the rest of the fleet to render them combat ineffective for more than a few months at best. From the record, it seems that what Star Destroyers they did kill were more by accident than anything else, almost as if they wanted the fleet repairable for some reason..." Moff Eaton stared off into space for several seconds before continuing in a perfectly calm tone, "Admiral Hall, have we had any recent communication with the remainder of Igdick's fleet?"
"No sir, not for at least a day."
"Send a fleet to their location at once, whatever will get there fastest, and then make sure your will is updated."
"Yes Milord" Admiral Hall replied, already reaching for his communicator.
**********************
Time: 20 minutes later
Location: System AE03286
The lead elements of Admiral Hall's hastily dispatched force emerged from hyperspace at full battle readiness, only to find a series of scattering debris fields, and a number of hastily programmed message pods broadcasting the barest details of what had occurred.
*********************
Time: 3 days later
Location: Moff Eaton's Takeaway Bar and Grill
"This is everything we have been able to put together regarding the ambush" Admiral Hall pronounced, activating the holo-projector, and taking a sip of his beer. "Between the limited information left on the pods systems, and the scout ships we jumped out to observe with lightspeed sensors, we think we know most of what happened."
On the screen, a real time display of Igdick's support elements came into being, cutting off the null-gee football game, and causing a major ruckus, before a thermal detonator thrown by Billy landed in their midst and started rapidly blinking.
"My Lord, you don't think Billy may have been serving with you a little to long? He's getting more than somewhat callous." Admiral Hall asked, trying to suppress laughter as the bar suddenly emptied.
"Nonsense, I never would have thrown a training grenade" Moff Eaton replied indignantly as the 'detonator' started spraying the bar with red paint.
In the display, the survivors of AE-15392 flashed into being, and proceeded to rendezvous with their repair groups. A few minutes passed on extreme fast forward, before another group of ships, this one immaculate, appeared and stopped short of the perimeter. One Allegiance, 38 Imperators, 27 Corvettes, 34 Nebulon-Bs, 62 Carracks, 46 Strike 'Cruisers', 32 Escort Carriers and 19 Dreadnaught Pocket Cruisers decelerated to a halt relative to the ongoing rebuilding.
Hall paused the program, and said "We know from the information left at the site that the identification on those ships checked out, and so did the orders that accompanied them not to mention their existence in any broadcasts." before resuming play.
The arriving fleet settled into a globular defense pattern of the repair efforts, launching shuttles and personnel transports towards the battered survivors, while training their heaviest guns outward, and apparently coincidentally, towards the support fleet's organic defense element.
Several minutes passed quietly as the inbound transports approached, before pulses of energy suddenly expanded from various points on the damaged craft.
"How?" Eaton snapped.
"Sites of detonation correlate with known asteroid, capship, and starfighter collisions, we suspect they were loaded with some sort of highly durable mag pulse torpedos, or possibly an Ion burst device of some kind." Billy replied, not looking up from the steak he was carving, "Pass the hot sauce."
In the Holo-tank, the recent arrivals seemed to explode with light, as sheets of energy appeared to erupt from them in every direction
"Hall?" Eaton demanded.
"The excessive amounts of fire coming from the underbellies of those ships are almost certainly Ion cannons somehow attached to the hull, and cloaked, at least in the visible spectrum. From the effects on the targets, they are likely at least light planetary weapons, probably KDY-150s are the largest thing we are seeing."
The transports and shuttles swiftly landed, and the renegade ships moved in as well, docking to whatever access port was convenient.
Moff Eaton stared at the carnage, lost in thought, "Why aren't we seeing more resistance, I know they have just been hit by overwhelming force, but we aren't even seeing any real attempt to evade or delay capture." He wondered, half to himself.
"Fire was directed primarily at Inertial compensator systems on all craft other than the defense force, and we detected several gravitational surges, our current theory is that they expanded their compensator bubbles over the fleet, and rapidly switched downward orientation until effective resistance was impossible." Billy answered between chews.
The display leapt back to fast forward, and the attackers undocked as the fleet reoriented itself. The fleet spent a few minutes vaporising major concentrations of wreckage before vanishing into hyperspace.
"Identification of those ships?"
"We still aren't 100% positive My Lord, but what few ships we have confirmation on seem to be from the Borung Sector. i have transmitted an Absolute Emergency Priority warning to all points in the Empire, and have already dispatched a force to the Borung Sector on my own authority."
"On the bright side, the Emperor seems strangely reluctant to indulge in mass executions today, so we might as well get back to work. Dismissed gentlemen."

If the Iraqi's put a gun to the head of one of the captured American pilots, you think they'll fly MiGs for them?
I think the responce would be 2 words. Fuck you asshole.
I know that's 3 words, but 3 words for you nitpickers: fuck yourselves

One, that's three words, Two, what exactly have you seen him ordered to do that would be the equivalent of an American pilot flying against his own side,Three currently he could be gathering intelligence and waiting for a chance to make a break for it for all you know. Four, he is patterned off of a real person, and I happen to know what he would probably do in that situation.

Chapter 5: Bringing the Mountain to Mohammed
1 week later
Location: Officer's mess aboard the Mildly Aggressive, deep space
"All right, Departmental Status report" Maverick demanded, while openly ogling a copy of Imperial Sluts. "Fleet Repair, Gavin?"
"We can have all captured ships up to Imperial spec inside 6 weeks with our current resources, but implementing the desired changes is going to push the timetable back to at least three and a half months."
"Good; Acquisitions, David?"
"Currently within two steps of completing Phase 1 of 'Hegemonising Swarm,' we expect to be good to go on Phase 2 within a year, Phase 3 is going to be dependent on the level of saturation you wish to achieve. "
"Superb; Special Projects, Carlos?"
"'Death Spear' is fully tested, modification of each unit will take a month presuming available yard space. The MMB fighter attachments are ready to go, as are the Hotel Missiles, but as soon as we demonstrate the concepts, the Empire is going to be able to duplicate them. 'Mohammed' is ready to go as soon as you give the word. 'Project Ninja' is also making good progress."
"Understood, we'll be implementing 'Mohammed' immediately; Production, Ian?"
"Self-expanding factory centers are currently being emplaced, but we lack the ability to shield any more sites at this time. Both 'Nike' and 'Hailstorm' are up and running."
"Excellent, we move against Phalanx in 12 hours. Confusion to the Enemy!"
"Why should they be any different than us?" Iruled muttered
Cid hustled him into the elevator, "Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy."
**********************************
Phalanx System
12 hours later
The Phalanx system was a major Planetary Shield Generator assembly and storage point, with a considerable quantity of generators maintained in orbital warehouses, awaiting the next sudden burst of Imperial expansion. The Empire was fully aware of how tempting such a target would be, and were taking no chances, especially given recent events. Forty-Eight AsteroidGuns, a dozen Golan III Defense Platforms, and a six kilometer Bastion class Space Fortress stood watch over the orbital infrastucture, while 20 Imperators, 4 Allegiance light cruisers and 300 assorted frigates patrolled the system, led by the Superior class Heavy Cruiser Arrogant.
Tensions were high, as everyone had heard some version of Igdick's death, but popular opinion was that the fleet reorganisation would be completed before many of the captured ships could be brought back on line. Which really made it a shock when the hostile hyper emergence alarm went off on the Bastion's flag bridge.
"Status" Commodore Parlat barked as he entered the command center.
"Sir, ship count corresponds exactly to the description circulated by Admiral Hall, 38 Imperators, 1 Allegiance, and 220 assorted frigates" The Tac officer reported.
"What the hell are they thinking?" Parlat wondered.
******************************
On board the Mildly Aggressive
"What the hell are you thinking!?" Iruled shouted at Maverick, pausing only to shove Cid's blaster out of his face.
Absently, Maverick tapped his rank insignia
"Allright, What the hell were you thinking you bug-fuck crazy bastard?"
Maverick activated his comm, and spoke into it "Now hear this, crewman Martilos has won the pool, he did call me a bug-fuck crazy bastard. Oh, and battlestations if you've forgotten. That is all.
"Ha bloody ha, do you have anything useful to share with us Admiral, or should I jump out the airlock in my skivvies and try to scare them to death." Iruled asked, half-hopefully.
"Let's talk to them!"
Fot the first time in his life Capain Apath Iruled, formerly of the Imperial Navy, executed a perfect anime-style face-fault. Tragically, the perfection of his form was lost on those around him, as the face-fault is an unknown art form in the SW galaxy.
"Comm channel open sir."
******************************
Bastion command center
"Sir, they're... they're opening a communications channel."
"By all means, put them on lieutenant, this ought to be good
"Good evening, I'd like to order two large Bantha Burgers, an order of Mynock wings, and a Gornt Bucket. Anyone else want anything?" Maverick glibly declared.
Motioning to the comm officer to cancel the outgoing, Parlat turned to his Tac officer, "Well?"
"Sir, they entered the system at 90 light minutes out for some reason, and have been heading insytem at approximately .9c. Our HyperComm transmissions are currently being jammed, but we currently have no sign of additional hostile forces inbound. We are currently concentrating our forces, and we should be able to engage in conjunction with the fixed defenses, or completely away from the likely targets if you so choose. We could also tow the forts out to engage with maximum firepower and minimum exposure to the warehousing."
"Have we localised their transmissions?"
"It looks like they are running their flag in the cruiser sir."
"Hmmm, leave the forts in covering position, and have them launch all fighters, it would be just like this yahoo we've been getting reports about to try to lure us all out of position. Concentrate our mobile units and intercept them short of effective range of their targets. Put him back on."
"-ow we're outnumbered, but if they all drop dead, and their equipment explodes, and we were miraculously given superpowers, then maybe we could... oh hi, have you decided to give up yet?" Maverick enquired hopefully.
"Hardly, this is your last chance, surrender and die painlessly."
"How about we don't surrender, and die of lingering agony in about seventy years?"
"No"
"Just checking" Maverick deactivated the channel.
"Well, that was pointless" Parlat mused
An hour passed silently as the fleets approached each other.
"Well, time to give them one last chance" Maverick said
Meanwhile, Iruled was surreptitiously eyeing an unwatched blaster in a rating's holster.
"I wouldn't" Maverick stated calmly as he looked over the tactical display.
"You've been watching me in a mirror, haven't you?" Iruled asked resignedly.
"Yup" Maverick cheerfully confirmed.
"Cid has a blaster pointed at the back of my head, doesn't he?"
"Yup" Cid confirmed smugly.
"You had a pool running on how long it would take me to try, didn't you?"
"Yup" the entire bridge crew chorused.
"I hate you all, now give me my winnings" Iruled demanded.
"Later" Maverick said as he reopened the channel, "Commodore, this is your last chance to end this painlessly"
"Painlessly for one of us anyway, Rebel Scum"
The tactical officer rushed into the pickup, shouting "Commodore, additional hyper tracks inbound towards the complex"
"So 'Admiral'" Parlat sneered, "You thought you could get past us that easily. I saw through your pathetic little scheme and your remaining forces will die just as easily as that rag-tag fleet you've collected."
"I see its impossible to slip one by you, commodore, of course, that's not what I was trying to do anyway."
"Commodore!" the lieutenant half-screamed "They aren't stopping!!"
"Wha-" was all Commodore Parlat had time to exclaim before the screen erupted in a flash of white.
*****************************
Imperial Particle shields were designed to be very resislient, redundant, and effective. A combination of Force fields, Inertial compensators, and Tractor Beam technology would shrug off all but the most devastating impacts. Unfortunately, a 6km asteroid reverting from hyperspace with no time to decelerate definitely came under the heading of 'most devastating'.
Even so, the Bastion might have survived the impact, horribly crippled, if it weren't for the second 6km rock that impacted from exactly the opposite vector. The other fixed defenses didn't merit nearly so large an attack, but the mile long asteroids that converged on the Golans were more than sufficient to eliminate them, just as the piddling little 600 meter 'pebbles' removed the NovaGuns from the equation.
Simultaneously additional asteroids emerged from Hyperspace directly into the paths of the oncoming Imperial Fleet, as additonal rocks were jettisoned from hangar bays, and the monoliths that the rebel fleet had been towing blazed past them as they decelerated.
"All ships fire at will, take no chances, but I want the Arrogant salvageable. Send the message to begin stage two in 30 minutes."
A storm of green and red fire erupted from the Rebel task force as they arrowed in toward the beseiged Imperial fleet. More than a few ships died outright from the kinetic impacts before they even began to take direct fire, and the continued stream of rocks arriving from the bays of the enemy Imperators prevented the Imperial captains from concentrating their power upon ray shielding. Those who attempted to ignore one threat or the other soon payed with their lives and those of their crews.Four unmmanned Loronar Strike Cruisers smashed head on into the light cruisers of the System Defense fleet, all eight ships merging into a single gigantic fireball. The remaining rebel fleet decelerated as quickly as possible, before swinging around and matching velocities with the battered Imperials, pounding them all the way. Here and there, a rebel ship sparked and died, but most of the Empire's weapons were thrown against the one enemy Allegiance, and they proved unequal to the task of bringing it down. Shields down, and fire pouring out of it in a dozen places, the Former Imperial Ship, the Allegiance Light Cruiser Liegelord clung tight to the Arrogant's belly firing into it as fast as its guns would cycle, steadily joined by more and more ships as resistance was crushed elsewhere. In a manuever that had become practically routine, the attackers disabled all grav controls on board the Arrogant before bouncing the crew off of every bulkead a dozen times and boarding.
The ISDs of the fleet came around again, and began accelerating towards their objectives once more. As they came to within 15 minutes travel from the cached generators, an enormous swarm of Loronar FSCVs popped out of hyperspace, empty and unmanned, to be tractored and forcibly decelerated by the escorting destroyers. The FSCVs positioned themselves within the boundaries of the warehouse, and activated their field generators to secure their booty, before the ISDs tractored them again and began towing them to the planned hyperspace departure point. The rest of the Rebel fleet formed up upon the looted cargo, towing the crippled hulk of the Arrogant with them, before they all leaped into hyperspace
**************************
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Galaxy, the overly preachy power grabbers of 'The Rebel Alliance,' by concentrating almost all of their forces(apart from General Bel Iblis's who weren't invited) were able to attack and destroy an Imperial Laundry and Supply Flotilla after a hard-fght battle. Mon Mothma and Bail Organa declared this a great victory, that this was a sure sign that the Force was with them, that Palpatine was doomed to fail, that Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, That surely his tyranny would be deposed etc. etc.
General Iblis was so disgusted with the blatant grand-standing and gloryhounding that he left the Alliance on the spot.
