The room was quiet as the assembled Star Fleet Admirals gathered to deal with the current crisis.They filled into the room and sat in there chairs as Admiral Jellico went to the stand.He looked tired and worn as he gaxed over the assembled beings.
"Gentlemen and women"he started"we are now at war with the Tholian Hamageny as of 1430 hours yesterday"
The Admirals gasped and looked up at him in shock .
"Admitral Jellico this cannot be."Stated Admiral Janeway"War with the Tholians?But we havent heard a peep from them in over a decade Hell they didn`t even bother to fight the Dominion or the Borg ,so why start up now?"
Several other admirals nodded in silent agreeement with her they ta;lked quietly for a moment about possible reasons when Jellico cleared his throat to get there attention."Becuse apparently a week ago a Star Fleet Task force led by a Nebula class cruiser attacked and destroyed a Tholian outpost in sector 2916....they showed us the video from an emergency beacon that was launched and its been confirmed valid"
The room darkens as the viewscreen shows the seal of the Federation .It then cuts to the scene from the outposts point of viw including sensor scans.A group of four Federation ships rapidly apprach the station which raises its shyields,they are clearrly seen as a Nebula ,an akira and two Miranda class vessels.
The ships slide and dodge as they fire at the outpost torpedoes and phasers strike it rapidly as it tries to return fire soon emergency klaxons can be heard as the tape ends.
"apparently they were just building it and most of the defenses were offline. the tape ended when the commander ordered the log jettisoned ....People this is the worse possible disater we are in .Not only are the Tholians relatively intact since they didnt fight but it looks like WE started this mess"

Part 2

Janeway and Jellico walked down the hallyway quietly,she kept glancing at him then spoke.

"What the HELL is going on?what is Starfleet going to do about this ,you know and I know that Starfleet had nothing to do with this. Did someone set us up? some idiot pull a Maxwell on us? "

Jellico stoped and looked at her."And why pray tell would the Tholians believe we had nothing to do with it?hmm? those were Federation ships blowing the outpost apart .Sure as HELL seems like we fired first.What Im worried about is the war we are fighting with them."

Janeway gave one of her infamous smirks"Why are you worried we kicked the Dominions ass surely we can kick the Tholians"

Jellico looked at her."We are still recovering from the Dominion war which we barely won .Most of the troops from then have been decommisioned as were several ships that are no longer needed.The Tholians on the other hand remained neutralk during the fight even though they undertook war level ship building,they have had 15 YEARS of relative peace ,they have had a chance to study what we did in the war.This will be a bad fight"

Janeway just chuckled as she walked away"Admiral you worry too much"

Jellico looks at her "Admiral you don`t worry enough"


Deep in space near sector 2719 A Klingon Task force angles in on a Tholian battlestation,fully cloaked they expect to cath them by surprise.The 10 ships angle in when one of the Birds of Prey stirke asometing which explodes knocking it into the NeghVar class Dreadnought commanding the task force,things go south from there as the base fires two orange energy bolts in the direction of the Klingo fleet which quickly scatters.

"Damage control report!"Shouted the Klingon Admiral over the din of emergency klaxons.

"Port nacel damages.warp core stable ,port nacel diosruptors offline routing power away from them ,shuttle bay damages ,two drone racks distroyed"The chief engineer looks up from his panel after giving the report to the Admiral.

The Admiral is aboput to bark an order when the bolts ssem to explode sending a wave of energy out .Hwe can only watch in hoorror as a Vor`cha and two Birds of prey decloak in the field they seem to drift hap hazzardly damage evident on them .

"What IS that?"

The chief engineer checks his scans and turns pale"Tholian Web sir they are .."

The screen darkens as the station opens up and blasts the helpless ships without mercy Photon Torpedoes and heavy pulsed energy bolts slam into them tearing them appart.There blasted remains fly off the damage from the energy cannons still spreading across there surface.

The Admiral barks"Fbut again no meGEt us Moving you Targ offal be...."

The Klingon Admiral doesnt have the chance to finish barking orders when five Tholian warships warp in above them diving on them firing weapons at the Negh` Var.The other Klingo ships turn ,decloak and to BOP explode as the heavy arrays mounted in some orbiting asteroids open up on them.

The last three ships weigh there options and decide to do a suicide run on the BNBattle Station .The ships decloak and reinforce there forward shields as they dive at the station .The Two Vor`chas and single BOP move in at top speed only to slam to a stop as an orange field materializes around them .

Cursing there situation the Klingons start firing in all directions as the Tholians ships close in firing blowing them appart.

The fight was going badly for the Federation ships. The Tholian ships had ambushed them from a nebula scattring the Federation convoy ,allready 3 of the 8 merchantmen were damaged or destroyed the escorts trying to cover the ships as the Tholians jinked and doged amongst them.

Captain Harris of the Valiant class starship Relentless chased after one of the Tholians ships. He cursed as the Tholian once again jerkd to one side narrowly dodging a long burst from the Relentlessses pulse phasers."Dammit Hold still so we can hit you you web spinning freak!

The Tac officer chuckled *Well I do believe they are ignoring your or.....SHIT"

The Relentless rolled quickly to one side missing the mine the Tholian Frigate had droped in there path.

"thats what two or three? hes droped so far means he only has one or two more to go"Capatain Harris said watching the fleeing ship.He watched as a blast from the pulse phasers struck home blowing part of the frigate awa .The small craft jerked wildy to one side ,plasma venting from a damaged warp nacel

"We got `im now give me a full volley of quantums and we`ll head back to the convoy"

"Aye sir if the Tholians are willing to be so reasonable"The Tac officer said with a grin.

The Relentlesses dived at the Frigate as it opened up its rear weapons on the ,all the while trying to turn so its forward weapons could bear.The Relentless however kept flyin in its six and finally a string or quantum torpedoes finished it off.

The Relentless returns to a nightmarish sight the remaining escorts,two Valiants and an Akira, trying to fight of two Tholian Cruisers and four frigates.

"Why cant we get the easy jobs?"Harris moaned?

"Because the only easy day was yesterday sir"the Navigator quiped.

"Right peopl reinforce forward shields and..."a grin crosed his face"set the Quantums to proximity blast"

"But sir our ships could be damaged by them"Tactcal said

"Yes I know that but they are also packed a biut tighly and we could damage more than one at a time .Do it"

"Aye sir"

Relentless dove forward and launched a full brace of orpedoes into the Tholian formation .The toprs speed in and detonated.The distructive energy shooting out damagin all of the ships in the area one frigate was thrown into a cruiser .The Relentless then fired its pulse phasers ripping a frigate appart however the one of the cruisers fired three torpedoes at her ,they missed but slowly arced back twoards her.

"Captain are my eyes playing tricks on me or are thoes Torps trailing us"

Captain Harris felt a cold spike in his stomach "Its no trick they are.Full power to the rear .."

He never finished his statement as he was thrown from his chair . A frigate fired its full frontal arnament into the Harrisis already weakend read shields it was enough to collapse them ,two torpedoes impact blowing out a warp nacel and gashing the hull

OK some facts most of the Tholian data,sector numbers and such comes from the nice People who make Star Fleet Battles .The Ship designations,Akira ,soverign,Bird of Prey and the charactors beklong to Paramount or are people whom I made up .I`m not seeking to make money from this and well they dont belong to me any way so theres my disclaimer

About time we saw a SFB based fic, go for it.

Janeway walked into the situation center as it was known and frowned at the sight she saw on one screen."...What is there target...I mean thirty hits and runs they savage the Bats in sectors 3016 and 2816...they have infiltrator ships as far as sector 2715....but they havent launched an all out attack."

"Well Admiral maybe they are being cautious ,testing our defenses as it were."Spoke an ensign at a sensor console.

"Maybe"she said"Or maybe they have something else planned....."

Janeway looked at the other areas of her command so far nothing was going on in the Klingon and Romulan sectors bordering her area but still she wasnt too sure.

"what are those crazy spinners up too?I mean we can wipe there forces out but...they need to get there first and it`ll be a month before the first reinforcements get here.

Sitting down she mused over her situation .~I get back and what do they do to me? They give me a medal .a parade, a promotion ,and a nice posting ...To the ass end of the Federation.I mean no one had heard jacvk from the Tholians except for trade deals ,and the non agresssion pact with the Dominion but still that gined them nothing.Now ..my quiet part of the Federation is neck deep in Tholians but they arent doing much~

An alarm sounded as part of one of the displays went red ,information came pouring in"Now what?"yelled out Janeway annoyed

"Admiral we are looking at over 600 Tholian ships hitting three sectors simultaneously as we speak"a shocked tech called out .

"What! they are finnaly invading us?"

"No Admiral ...they are invading the Kingon Empire and are winning from the looks of it"

Martok stood before the assembly and yelled out "Shall we let these honorless web spinners sully our territory with there prescence?"

"NO" shouted the assembled Klingons Worf amongst them.

" I hearby order the Southern Reserve fleet and the Imperial War reserve activated and thrown at them let us gring these lava creatures under our boots!"

The Klingons cheered and yelled as Martok and Worf left the chamber "An Excellent speech Martok"

"Thank you Worf but I believe it was in vain"Martok looked over at him "The Tholians hit us harder than has been spoken of .Most of the Tholian border Squadron was at rest when they hit...less than 20% are left and half are damaged"

"We suffered graver losses against the Dominion and we beat them.They are honorless dogs who will be beaten .Are they mad?Fighting Both the Klingons and the Federation they will be anihalated"

"Worf you miss the point neither We nor the Federsation have recovered from fighting the Dominion and the Borg.Estimate s are that at full capacity our shipyards will rebuild the fleet in two more uyears but now?....and you know very well we cannot weaken the Kzinti and Hydran borders it would be a disaster"

"Still Martok the Federation will help you and posibly the Romulans as well"Worf said .

"I dont trust the Romulans as far as I can toss my Command ship Worf neither should you"

That first chapter was barely readable. Remember, punctuation is your friend.

The room was well lighted as three of the five Tholian Admirals met in person as it were ,the other two conferencing using subspace communication through tight beam broadcasts.

"How does the fighting go Admiral KF?"Asked Admiral SC.

"We have caught the Klingons by surprise sir we have already set up a mobile base at Kitomer to facilitate supply and repair ,several more are being set up ass plaaaned we figure to reach our ssigned targets in another few weeks"

"Good Good,How are things on the Federation front Admiral FF?"

" We have launched a series of raids and spoiling attacks to keep them off balance.We note the Federation 5th fleet gathering to launch an attack but along with Admiral KF we are aware of what to do.I fear to speak more because of our conversation."

Admiral SC nodded knowing communications could be tapped"Very Well do as you see fit . Admiral RF things still quiet with our "Friends?"

"Aye sir ,but we are on high alert in case they try something"

"Good,good.Now then Admirals KF<FF expect a courier to arrive with your new orders soon "

"Understood sir"they both replied"over and out"

Admiral SC looked at the other two "lets set up a surprise for Admiral Janeway shall we? Give her a nice juicy target to hit so that We can invade the Federation.Admiral HF I`m going to need all of your tugs and mobile bases for this one "

Admiral HF nodded"with the Ltts we can make do .What are you planing sir"?

"Why simple Admiral HF,We are going to set a trap one that will draw them in and let thm kill themselves.I believe we can sacrifice Khitomer for this."

Captain Stephens looked at the data on his screen for a third time and grinned .The data the recon units had been gethering were starting to add up to something important.He gathered up the padds and headed to Admiral Janeways office.

Captain Picard scrowled as he looked out the window in his ready room.'War with the Tholians.'He thought 'How could we let it come to this.What ever happened to diplomatic discusions.I miss Riker Geoardi,Deanna and especially Beverly'

"Well of Course you do Jean Luc you horny bastard you."

Picard spun round as a flash of light occured

"Q ,What the devil brings you here?I have no time for your foolishness today"

"Why I`m here to enjoy the show that is going on Jean Luc .It is so entertaining "Q sat in Picards chair grinning at him ,a small box of popcorn iin one hand and a soda on the desk.

"Q leave NOW!"

"Why?how often is it when you see seven empires beating the crap out of each other?"

"Seven but only We ,the Klingons and the Tholians are fighting"

"For now ,lets just say this little mess was started by a fourth party and they are old friends of yours"

"Who are they"

"Uh uh uhhhh Can`t tell you Mon Captiane just as I wont stop this little mess"

"And why not you arrogant BASTARD?"

Q flashed again and appeared as Picard "Because it would be a violation of the Prime Directive to interfeere with the natural development of these lesser cultures"

There was a flash of light and Q was gone leaving Picard to sit and think.Also leaving the box of popcorn and the drink behind as well.

Janeway smiled at the assembled Admirals."We have found a weak spot"

She pointed to the screen behind her "Acording to intel the Tholians are setting up a supply dump and repair yard in the Khitomer system.We are planning an all out assault if we and the Klingons hit them hard here we can not only cut the Tholins off from there supply lines but open up an avenue iof attack into the heart of there space"

One of them asked"What are the risks?"

"we could be walking into a trap but thats a remote possibility,they could hit us as we do this.But the benfits are worth it and it may bring the Tholians to the peace table "

The Admirals nodded ,the supreme commander spoke up"Do it Admiral we are counting on you"


Far from the war a pair of blue eyes gleefully looked over the reporst coming in "I cant believe how well this is going."

The other one spoke up"Yes tell me about it .For only the cost of four hulks we are humbling the Klingon Empire and soon will humble and humiliate the Federation as well"

The first one looked over"Not only humiliate the Federation but our old friend Picard as well"

"Yes most definitely Picard as well.As the Ferengi would say this is a very profitable enterprise"

They both started to laugh.

I'll look past the writing and punctuation and just mention one thing. Janeway is a major character, that alone will ensure the death of this fiction.

Ummm lets just say Like Stravo I have it in for Janeway .and yes She will be suitably ....dealt with

Incidentally, I actually found Janeway to be easier to write than Picard, because she actually has some humanity about her -- like Kirk.

Worf looked over the assemvbled Klingon fleet.@60 ships from the remains of the Tholiand Border Squadron,Southern Reserve fleet,and Imperial War Reserve.Stood ready to launch there part of Janeway`s bold plan to attack the Tholians at Khitmoer.

He gave a savage grin'Soon the Tholians will feel our righteous anger and they will quake'


Tholian Admiral KF watched as Khitomer was readied for the fight tocome.The Klingons on the plnet had been dealt with,not through a ground assault ,like the savages had hoped,but by orbital bombardment with nuclear weapons.

The base was coming along very well two mobile bases were in place as was an FRD and three supply freighters and a LAuxCV.The Weg anchors and asteroids were in position and powering up ,defensive batteries set up and mines were being laid.

"Have the ships been refited yet?"The Admiral asked.

"Yes sir"replied the chief technician."All photon torpedoe launchers and disruptors have been replaced by particle cannons.The rest of the Fleet is also refitting as we speak."

"Good ,time for the Federation ,and the Klingons to get a taste of what its like to fight us at our full strength.Is the new weapon ready?"

"Yes sir they were sucessfully tested in an uninhabited system and will work according to specs."

"Excellent.I do believe Admiral Janeway will be surprised when the trap is sprung.Though she won`t see the light till it`s too late fore her to day anything about it."

Janeway looked at the assembeled Klingon, Federation fleet 900 warships ready to stab the Tholians in the back.They were a mere 5 minutes from target ,all systems ready.A cake walk for all concerned.

Worf sat on the bridge of his flagship Wrath of Khaless .Hw watched as the stars returned to nomal as they exited warp .Shields were immediately rasied as he surveyed the target.Not as helpless as was first thought but still ,killing it would shorten the war."All ahead full, ready weapons to fire, and watch for mines"

The ships spread out and hurtled at the base which ,at long range,opened up with heavy phaser banks.The energy bolts hitting the ships tearing into shields.Tholian warships hurtld at the fleet hopelessy outnumbered yet seemingly willing to sacrifice themselves before dying.


Janeway looked on "Time to peel the onion .First wave head in>"

The first group of Starships imbedded themselves in the web and started blasting the web anchors and tenders.The targets tried to hold there ground and keep powering the web,Tholian phasers passed through the tractor beams effortlessly hitting the assembled Federation and Klingon ships hitting shields and at times hulls.

Klingon ships embedded themselves in a second section and started working there way in as well .The Tholians were hard pressed to stop so many ships at one time .


Soon the sections in the outer layer being attacked fell and the ships started to work on the sections of the middle web.Thats when the Tholians unveiled there first surprise cyan beams of force arched out and stabbed at the ships.Passing through the web effortlessly they pierced the shields like they didn`t exist .Janeway stared in shock"WHAT THE HELL?"

Worf growled "They may have Klingon blood in them, but we will spill it! Keep Attacking!"

Janeway growled.'Dammit how could intel not even know about there new weapons? This just got a bit more interesting and a bit harder."


Soon even with the new weapon the middle web failed and the inner most one came under fire.The attack picked up in intensity ,everal ships moved forward to help speed the process up when the second surprise fell into place .

Far from the remains of the outermost web layer several web tender decloaked and fired up there generators , two rows of them sealing the area in a double web.Janeway looked at them and smirked"that wont hold us long keep it up people we are winning this"

Then the third surprise fell an old style Tholian dreadnought came out of Warp near Khitomers star and entered the corona.She was packed with anti matter and was ordered to self destruct.The Tholian crew new this and readied themselves for the final act in this trap.

"Admiral we have a Tholian ship entering the stars Corona "

"what ??why would they do..."

"admiral we have Ambassador Worf on comm"

"Onscreen"

Worf look terrified"Admiral Janeway we must flee immediately ."

"why"She asked

The ship self destructed the anitmatter erupting ,causing the star to de stablize and go nova.the results raced across the sytem to the trapped fleet.Janeway screamed"GET US THE HELL OUT OF HERE"

The assembled Federation and klingon fleet slammed into the webs trying to pierece them before the wae hit.Desperate captains shot at the web tenders trying to blow them up in time.

The wave struck the far side of the Tholian base and the washed over the fleet leaving nothing but wrekage in its wake.

OK peeps thats it for Part One of this tale. Part 2 Nemesis-Whirlwind will be starting Jan 22 five days after my operation hopefully see you then
