Just a simple question. Sometimes, most of the time, when I'm not feeling particularly inspired, I feel particularly drained of energy whenever I'm in front of the computer. It's just so bloody difficult to write something. For example, I just got out of the bath and while bathing, my mind conjured up a couple of nifty stuff. But now, I'm in front of the comp, and I feel...sapped of energy. Why? WHY?!

Is it writer's block? Do forums have a magical mojo that helps suck writing power from people's souls? Do I have some sort of problem? Does this happen to you guys also?

Just pondering...

I'll have sporadic cases of writer's block; they punctuate normally being able to write. It's especially annoying when you have an actual story plan, and just need to work within the framework you have, and still can't do it.

Just start writing anything, even if it's not related to your project. It's like stretching the muscles before going on a run, it gets the brain into the mode.

Work at it, even if you just produce trash writing.

And if that doesn't work, I find taking some time off to relax and think about anything BUT writing helps a lot.

Indeed. More often than not, I don't feel particularly compelled to write, even if I've just come up with a new idea I want to get down, but after I get into it, even if it's only a sentences, the creative juices tend to start flowing once more.

Normally, I draw when I don't want to write, and write when I don't want to draw. Failing either, I plan out things that need to happen later, or go back and proofread what I've written before. Hell, even reading what I've written previously can help establish a good starting point.

Another things I do is just switch which characters I'm writing about. I've got an oversized cast, so switching between them is bound to yield something I want to write about .

I wouldn't call your cast oversized, but as someone who likes the Malazan Books of the Fallen, I may be biased.

Dark Councillors manages to not be annoying in regards to the amount of characters because they're so well handled (granted, a couple need al ittle more time to develop, but hey) anyway. With Completion (my current on the go piece of writing), I do have other characters I could focus on, however I use third person involved for narrative voice.

My biggest problem is that my obsessions are prone to crash without warning. The only thing I'll think about one day won't even appeal to me the next. They always come back, but it's annoying as hell when you're in the middle of something and you just lose all interest.

The worst thing you can do is write when you don't really want to. All you produce is crap.
