Should I rewrite Imperial Phoenix and reissue it as IP Gold?

My LOTR rant got me to thinking about a project that had been on my
backburner for quite a while - working over IP from the beginning and
rewriting it to shorten it, tighten it up, and overall, to improve it, because
that was my first major foray into fanfiction, and I'm always a bit embarrassed
that people nominate it for awards when IMHO, there are better written
fics out there.
Should I start working on IP Gold?

I say do it. There are places where IP can be fixed up, made to flow much better.

now that you mention it fist of the empire part III was never finished, and that was some damn good stuff! methinks the lovely marina o'leary should be kindly persuaded/bribed into finishing part III , being that it started off pretty badass with Kirk's ISD and the fleet of Husnok ships kicking some serious ass.

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT KILL MIKE_6002 in your fanfic, its exactly what he wants and don't give that little syncophant the satisfaction. Let him languish in the mediocrity that he has been living in!!
DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you think your work could be better, then a rewrite is laudable. BTW, Sheppard, could I have a cameo? Maybe as a "Barbaric" Feddie who later defects?
