Petroleum prices
How's it going over in North America now? Any thoughts on the reason for it?

i filled up on sunday. paid $1.79/gallon and it cost about $17 to fill the tank in my Honda Civic. that should last me a week. A little higher than usual, but i don't see what the big deal is considering i paid 1.10 Euro a liter in St. Martin a week ago.

I think the price increase is at least partially demand motivated because it's an election year and the average joe is getting screwed by the government more than usual. With all that extra screwing you're going to need some lubrication.

I heard the explosion in Texas at one refinery may affect prices in that area at least (people blamed al-Qaeda first, hardly surprising as thems terrorist folks cause all the evils of this world).
OPEC has plans to cut production sometime this year, but negotiations are still going on as cutting production with the price of oil now would seem silly.
And we all know OPEC are perfectly rational people.

Fuel prices in Tucson seem to be running between $1.74 (at Costco, Sam's Club) to $1.99 per gallon at most of the chain stores (Exxon, Mobil, Chevron, Unocal 76).
Tucson's gasoline prices have been running a little higher than Phoenix's which is really irritating beause the tanks that store the gas for Phoenix are here in Tucson. The fuel is sent via pipeline up to Phoenix except for last year when some builders busted the line and gasoline poored into the development they were building.

Take what you can get, we had $5/gal when you could get it at all for something like a month.Tsyroc wrote:Tucson's gasoline prices have been running a little higher than Phoenix's which is really irritating beause the tanks that store the gas for Phoenix are here in Tucson. "Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

around $1.50 or so for regular. It should be noted New Jersey has some of the lowest gas prices in the country.

Aren't you happy? Afterall, isn't everyone in the state is employed by the oilfield; as everyone in South Louisiana believes? Nevermind the gas will cost more than the overtime pay.Patrick Degan wrote:$1.59 for regular to $1.79 for premium here in New Orleans.

It's sick here, it's like 70p per litre. So it costs a good 20 quid per week if i'm doing slightly more than average driving. How many litres are in a gallon again?

So you're paying £2.65 per gallon, about $4.50.

That was definatly bad, but it's odd that our prices usually run a little over those in Phoenix when the pipeline is working. They must figure they can make up the difference in volume.Howedar wrote:Take what you can get, we had $5/gal when you could get it at all for something like a month.
There are definately some bastards price gouging in this state. They are just lucky that the law on gouging is set so ridiculously high that it hasn't come down on them yet. Every time they tweak the prices upward at the smallest hint of something they are pushing the Governor that much more towards proposing a new law that would prevent the greedy bastards from doing stuff like that.

I think tomorrow is when the state is supposed to switch back to regular gasoline instead of that lower poluting crap that we have to use during the winter months.
