Yeah, its a dumb law. There is nothing wrong with standard federal gasoline standards but we get to use our special gas with MTBE ...hmmm yum!Col. over here (RI Mass CT) MBTE was banned because it was poisoning the water. The funny thing is that the enviro-nuts shoved MBTE down our throats to reduce air polution, and never bothered to reasearch the shit fully. It was a year or two before they realized it was poisoning water and killing marine life.TrailerParkJawa wrote:Yeah, its a dumb law. Northern California gets it worse that So Cal. Right now $20 bucks wont completely fill my Civic EX. I think 87 right now is somewhere around $2.31 a gallon.
The gas prices here in Germany consist of around 76% taxes (VAT, "eco tax", gas tax...), ~5% of misc stuff, and around 19% for the actual gas itself.Uraniun235 wrote:Why is gasoline so expensive in Europe?
Isn't self serve illegal there, too, forcing full service upon everybody? Or was I lied to/mixing things up?RedImperator wrote:around $1.50 or so for regular. It should be noted New Jersey has some of the lowest gas prices in the country.
I wish OPEC was horribly murdered.Admiral Valdemar wrote:I heard the explosion in Texas at one refinery may affect prices in that area at least (people blamed al-Qaeda first, hardly surprising as thems terrorist folks cause all the evils of this world).
OPEC has plans to cut production sometime this year, but negotiations are still going on as cutting production with the price of oil now would seem silly.
And we all know OPEC are perfectly rational people.
He already warned OPEC not to cut production. No, he didn't tell them. He warned them. Best. Diplomat. Ever.Patrick Degan wrote:What I think the president ought to do is he ought to get on the phone with the OPEC cartel and say we expect you to open your spigots.

Soooo.... When does Georgie the Wonder-Chimp get on that phone?
Uhm, we cut off all exports of Oil to Japan in 1941. Wow. Just order OPEC to "open its spigots"? Who the fuck owns that oil, shrubby? You? The guy was proven an idiot long before he was President.
