Some photos of my car, it's kinda dirty though...
Borrowed my boss' digital camera, so now I got some pictures, just the car is kinda dirty now, but it'll do until summer anyway, when I'm gonna have a professional give it a real shine.
Well here you can see the prime annoyance on european exports, they removed the parklights and put this turnsignal only light there instead.
Here's a side shot, you can see the dirt :p
Photo of the inside, sorry for the glare, the spring sun is harsh here, I've known greeks who come here and get burned in our sun
This is a small annoyance, the paddle-mirror, standard on all exports to europe, I would be interested in a swap BTW, power mirrors only.
Just a little peek at the studded tires, I guess you don't see many with those, these are smaller rims, 215/65/R15, this week or next week my summer tires are coming on again.
Another shot of the car, see those spots, you know what they are? Paw prints! Our damn cats get up on the car when it's warm and sit there!!! I'd like to catch them in the act...
And here's yours truly

Why is the steering wheel on the wrong side?

I find it amusing that the only nations that drive on the right side of the care are all island nations...

It's funny that we sit 'on the right side' inside the car, but everyone else drives 'on the right side' of the road!Crayz9000 wrote:I find it amusing that the only nations that drive on the right side of the care are all island nations...
Anyone else thought that with the thread title that HDS was going to post pictures of him gettin' some because of his car? Or was that just my deviant mind?

It's that maritime traditon translated to the road. Don't ask me to explain how exactly.Crown wrote:It's funny that we sit 'on the right side' inside the car, but everyone else drives 'on the right side' of the road!Crayz9000 wrote:I find it amusing that the only nations that drive on the right side of the care are all island nations...

It was just your deviant mind. I figured it was winter where he was so his car really would be dirty.

Winter? Pfft! It has been about +10 C in this part of the country for the past few days.Tsyroc wrote:It was just your deviant mind. I figured it was winter where he was so his car really would be dirty.
Dunno about the western coast where HDS lives, though, but temperatures there are usually pretty close to our region

Thanks.Oberleutnant wrote:Wow, it looks very nice even with the dirt. You're very satisfied with your German import car, it seems. I hope our greedy tax system didn't punish you too hard!

This prompts a question: Exactly why does Japan have right-side steering? They've never been a British colony IIRC, so it's somewhat of a mystery to a gaijin like me...Crayz9000 wrote:I find it amusing that the only nations that drive on the right side of the care are all island nations...

Most of the countries that drive on the left do so because in Maritime tradition ships are alway supposed to pass each other on a specific side.Peregrin Toker wrote: This prompts a question: Exactly why does Japan have right-side steering? At least that's one reason I've been told.
This article has a different reason for the UK.
Why Japan drives on the left
These two reasons sound more correct than mine about maritime tradition but the maritime one sounds a llittle less violence base to me.
