What is this "damn skippy"?

Post by Bob the Gunslinger »

I have seen many SDnetters using this phrase and I have no idea where it comes from or what it means.

Could someone please help me out?

In Australia Skippy or Skip is semi-racist slang for White Australian so you have Boongs, Slopes, Wogs and Skips meaning Aborigines, Asians, Non-English Europeans and Native White Australians. The English are called Pomms which is short for Whinging Pomm :D

Damn Skippy is a slang term from the early 90's in the US. I first heard it in the O.P.P. by Naughty by Nature. I don't know if they originated it or just made it popular.

I think the term has been around longer than the 1990's.

So how does "the evil twin skippy" factor into this. I've seen it in Doonsbury, roleplaying groups and most recently in reviews of Nemesis....
