It would work better if you had a better to use a different picture of the enterprise. That one is too dark and it can barely be seen

If my graphical skills were any better, I would have a UFP flag draped over some kid of flat angled surface, with a big knife stuck in it. The knife would have a stylized 3D Imperial logo on its pommel, and there would be blood trickling down the flag from the entry wound.

Unfortunately, while I can see it in my mind's eye, I can't draw it.

I could probably do it, but the problem is finding the time.

80px is too narrow. I think 140-200px is a reasonable number (eg, OSNews, robotics site (200px is stretching it... takes up a bit more than 1/4 of screen on 800x600, especially considering the CSS layout goes up in flames in the user's browser once space runs out... then again, I had to make the sponsor banners fit). Also, the frames are evil.

On second thought, 200px looks perfectly fine if it's flush with the margin. Hmm... I think a good rule would be larger if it's a liquid layout (maybe a % size?), and small if it's fixed or some distance from the edge. Basically the problem is that the sidebar only takes up about 6% of the page width (not browser width, page width, while optimal appears to be around 20%, +-5%), from what I've seen.

Hmmm, randomized? I like the Vader with the half world/half Imperial logo. The stardestroyer with the stormies is a good one too.

The Ent-D (Ghostbuster-ized) actually fits in nicely, IMNSHO, the shade job makes it blend. All in all, I like it.

The one with Darth with his hand extended with the lightsaber doesn't come across too well though.

I liked the picture of Vader offering the lightsaber, except for the fact that his head was cut off. I'd also prefer Archer's ENT or the Voyager, but if you feel the E-D is more appropriate, then keep it. I love the bit about Jarren Korr.

For a Star Wars vs Star Trek graphic we have a squad of Stormtroopers (or Clonetroopers) with an officer raising the Imperial Flag over some federation outpost. The Federation flag drags on the ground whilst in the grip of a stormtrooper. Kinda like the many photos taken during WW 2 when some troops captured and raised their counties flag over the enemy stronghold while simultaneosly showing complete contempt for the captured flag.

OK, I just had a thought. I don't think the "No Enterprise" symbol with the circle and crossbar looks all that good, but I couldn't come up with an alternative. However, in thinking about something else, the idea of a targeting reticle or cross-hair popped into my head. We even know what the cross-hairs of an Imperial fighter look like from ANH.

And since you've got one rotating image on the right, you could even do another rotating image with the Federation ship, letting it randomly choose the Enterprise, Enterprise-D, Enterprise-E, Defiant, Voyager or even the Enterprise NX-01 be the target of Imperial fire.
