Web site design help

Post by Darth Mall »

I am starting to make a website for my boy scout troop, and I have a few questions how to do some things.

1. Is it possible to with microsoft frontpage (newest version and no I am not going to do html) to make a system where each person can log in like hotmail, and have their own "page" so we can tell who is on, and if they submit stuff, we know who sent it.

2. Have a page with all of the peoples usernames and the ability to click a check next to the name and send them a message.

Thanx for any help, as it is greatly appreciated.

No.

You need some scripting server side, but there might be people or places that do it for you. I don't believe there's any software that will do it for you though.

Both would require some sort of CGI/ASP/etc on your side; pure HTML or Javascript won't do too much.

If you have server-side PHP capabilities I suggest PostNuke. I'm using it right now for a company I'm making a web for boing.

(boing added to avoid ending a phrase with a pre/proposition)

If you have access to the server, installing PHP is trivial. Even on Windows. Ok not trivial, but I'm guessing somebody would need to know what they're doing.

Thanks for your help.

I've decided that I'm going to set up a bbs like this site instead because I will prob not be able to get at the server like you say. Also it would probably be to hard for me to do

Thanks again,
