Is there a movement I'm not aware of to impeach Bush? Are there grounds to actually impeach him? (Which would be moot since Kerry is going to stompify him)
It makes sense, I suppose. Clinton was impeached for FAR less than Bush's transgressions of the last 4 years...VLWC signing off.

Re: i've been hearing alot about impeaching bush lately
tin foil nutters on both sides talk about impeaching every President. doesn't mean it will go anywhere. Besides, there is a Republican controlled Senate and House. Do you honestly think Henry Hyde (the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee) will allow the committe he chairs, the committe responsible for bringing articles of impeachment to the house floor, to issue articles of impeachment? i think not.Chardok wrote:http://www.votetoimpeach.org/

Besides, it wouldn't look good to impeach two presidents in a row.

Even if you felt that anything Bush did was illegal, he'll never have to defend himself in any "court." The only two Presidents ever impeached were found not guilty on largely party-line votes. The one President who would likely have been found guilty resigned before the ink on the pages dried.

and really, what Nixon did to get impeached wasn't very much in the grand scheme of things. 3,000,000 dead Vietnamese and 58,000 dead GI's: not an impeachable offense. Meh, this one is subjective. The War Powers Act was signed in '73, way before Bush Jr. took office.1) Seizing power to wage wars of aggression in defiance of the U.S. Constitution, the U.N. Charter and the rule of law;
carrying out a massive assault on and occupation of Iraq, a country that was not threatening the United States, resulting
in the death and maiming of tens of thousands of Iraqis, and hundreds of U.S. G.I.s.
And Congress did sign off on it so....hell, even Kerry signed off on it.The act requires the president to inform Congress within forty-eight hours of military action in a hostile area. Forces must be removed within sixty to ninety days unless Congress approves of the action or declares war.
Well, even I am comming around to this side myself but there is still a question of what was a lie and what was just wrong information. Besides, do we really want to start impeaching every President that lies?2) Lying to the people of the U.S., to Congress, and to the U.N., providing false and deceptive rationales for war.
I'd like to see his proof on the 'ordering attacks on civilians'. As for 'civilian facilities' and 'locations where civilian casualties were unavoidable', Welcome to war, killer.3) Authorizing, ordering and condoning direct attacks on civilians, civilian facilities and
locations where civilian casualties were unavoidable.
He's streching for shit to fill up his Impeachment aritcle, now.4) Threatening the independence and sovereignty of Iraq by belligerently changing its
government by force and assaulting Iraq in a war of aggression.
Ahahahahahahahah. Oh, I can't go on. Its too funny.4) Authorizing, ordering and condoning assassinations, summary executions, kidnappings, secret
and other illegal detentions of individuals, torture and physical and psychological coercion of
prisoners to obtain false statements concerning acts and intentions of governments and
individuals and violating within the United States, and by authorizing U.S. forces and agents
elsewhere, the rights of individuals under the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Eighth Amendments
to the Constitution of the United States, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the
International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
There are some honest points in there but if they rise to the level of Impeachment? Hmmm, well........Guess it makes more sence with a tinfoil hat on.[/quote]

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Tried for Iraq? The President is Commander in Chief of the armed forces of the United States. He had full authority to issue the orders he did; you can't impeach him for acts that he has every right to perform whether you like them or not.BoredShirtless wrote:He may not get impeached, but what about getting slammed with a post-Office lawsuit filed by the Americans who had lost their loved ones in Iraq? Go read a thread about a War on Porn, for fuck's sake. Or gay marriage. Or you approve of that shit? Do you really think that anyone who cares to can't come up with a laundry list of reasons why Bush is a complete fucking dumbass?theski wrote:

You should, considering the insane amount of Americans who are ignorant about basic things like evolution and the creation of the universe, those same people WOULD be stupid enough to jerk their knees and vote for another four years of one of the most appalling presidencies in recent history. You walked RIGHT into that one, btw.

Alright, theski, if you're not a Republi-zombie, then defend Bush. Write a compelling case for voting for him, and write it for a disillusioned Republican like me or Joe or ColCrackpot (in other words, a 20 page essay on why Kerry sucks won't cover it--we're all already aware of Kerry's suckitude, and at least I'm no longer convinced he's the greater of two evils).

re-elect W! I mean, seriously, I'd rather have anyone than
John F'ing Kerry in the white house.
As it is, Kerry's actions during vietnam and his subsequent senate
record have caused me to rethink a lot about Clinton.

Perhaps, but not sending the troops. He had every right to do that whether you care for the action or not, and "I don't like him" is not grounds for impeachment.HemlockGrey wrote:Lying, perhaps?Tried for Iraq? You have officially ceded your right to complain the next time someone calls you a Bush zombie. You merrily defend Bush at every turn but you're incapable of making an actual case for voting for him--and you're going to vote for him anyway, despite the volume of criticism leveled at him which you're unable to address.theski wrote:Red wroteSorry guys... Go read the "War on Porn" thread. Do you actually like the idea of diverting resources away from fighting terrorism to ... busting perfectly legitimate pornography distributors? If that doesn't open your eyes, how about Bush's tirade against gay marriage? Or his reckless spending on nation building? Or the failure of the economy to rebound like he and his cronies have been promising? Any of this ringing a bell?theski wrote:Just returning the favor... Failing that, look at Iraq. That place is rapidly turning into a far larger clusterfuck than I could've ever imagined, and I (unlike the Bush administration) wasn't naive enough to actually think we'd be "welcomed as liberators." Our soldiers are being used as police officers, and more are dying each day, and for what? To give these people freedom? They don't want us there.
That figures, since Gallup polls show that about 50% of the population also believes in creationism.Yep.. I guess it is.... I'll remind the other %50 of the population of that theirs is on to...
What a surprise. The country definitely needs another 4 years of Christian fundamentalism shoved down its throat. I'm glad you're in full support of that.MKSheppard wrote:Don't forget me!
