This is really deplorable.Considering that Japanese troops are there to rebuild and not to engage in combat. Theres no reason to take Japanese civilians hostage. This just proves that the Iraqi's don't want anyones help.

The news I saw did mention that they where not showing the worst of the footage, so missing out the threat of cannibalism would seem in keeping with the general approach taken by some News Stations.

It does mention the threat in the article linked to, so it's just one of those cases of something not making onto the News incase it upsets people...

Because everyone knows that fundamentalists always follow the teachings of the Koran to a T. While I am not saying that they might eat them, I am saying that the Koran will more than likely not be a mjajor factor in their decision.

It's in their statement. They say that the contracters will be "killed and fed to the fighters". Maybe they're making that bit up, but it's still pretty sick.

Ah, I see. Well, I still see no reason to take it seriously. And frankly, it's the "burning them alive" part which is sick. If they're killed horribly, I don't see what difference it would make even if they really did eat them.

It is buried deep in the article linked too, and I only found it because I was looking for it, thinking it odd that Eating the Hostages had not been mentioned on the news.

While likely this feeding them to the fighters line is symbolic for something... I am not sure what exactly... Anyone any ideas?

Japan is the nation that took suicide bombing and changed it from a terrorist tactic in a semi-legitimate tool of war with planes designed and manufactured specifically for that purpose. Japan is the nation that has huge numbers of people who get off on the idea of eating people alive and who draw plenty of hentai to fulfill their fantasies.

I don't know if it is 'official' but the news just said that Japan will NOT capituate to the demands of the kidnappers even though the families of the victims are begging for Japan to pull out to save their loved ones.

Sad shit but I guess Japan is doing the right thing by not caving, doesn't make it any easier for the families though.

Very sad.
