That one geek kid mentions it when you talk to him. It was planned to be a fairly sprawling base, IIRC, but due to time constraints it was canned. It's a pity that, say, an extra month couldn't be allocated to FO2's development and for bugfixing.PeZook wrote:The...uh...phongn wrote:...EPA base...

Well, I remember him talking about pre-holocaust military bases where you could find endorphine blockers, and the base is right where it's supposed to bephongn wrote:That one geek kid mentions it when you talk to him. No kidding. Or tagging steal and taking everything in sight, then loading whenever you get caught, or any of that kind of crap. Might as well just use a hacked character. Hell, might as well just uninstall the game because you're not going to have any more fun with it once you do stuff like that.Oberleutnant wrote:IMHO going straight to Navarro right after Arroyo ruins the whole game.Comosicus wrote:Chardok: You might check this link on how to get cool stuff early on - Navarro run (some spoilers)

Sorry when you're basically able to spit in the general direction...you're not playing the game.
Besides...the most fun is playing either a true thief(sneaky + high steal...and I mean HIGH) or diplomat. Combat is great in the beginning but bulldozing gets eh after the 10th time.

Yeah, Thanks for the cool shit link, but I'm going to play the game honestly before I go fucking with the order of things. Seems wrong to have MkIII power armor or whatever so early on. Goddamn I forgot how much fun fallout was. Oh, and about the rehash, the reason I thought it was a rehas, is that I've played fallout 2 before apparently, not all the way through, or even close to all the way through. My brother had fallout 2 awhile back, but he only had one of the two disks (My version only has one disk) so I was only able to play until disk 2 was required. but anyway, Fuck this is fun. I'm playing a lucky, smart character now. weak, though. But with luck on my side and an imperial assload of brains, the conversations get REAL interesting. got me a doctor ghoul, and some dude named cassidy, and Vic. All have survived for awhile now, and are proving invaluable in combat. Still having the screen flashy problem, though. oh well. Back to the game...FUCK I'M ADDICTED!!! THE GAME IS LIKE JET!!! I GOT THE SHAKES BAD, MAN!

Vic isn't too bad. At least he's human and can wear Power Armor.
Cassidy, do not use any drugs...stims fine, but any drug will pretty much kill him. He becomes very nice with a Gauss.
Ghoul Doctor...eh...he's a bullet soaker.

Oh, no, this is a 'cheat' game so my Charisma was 10
Marcus really seems to like the Turbo Plasma Rifle -- in fact, he'll favor it over the Vindicator. Vic might favor energy weapons at the end, too -- I've checked the Bible, it shows Energy Weapons at 10 points higher than Small Guns. I'll give him my pulse rifle if it works out
Lenny is kinda useless, I'm afraid. I'm tempted to replace him with Skynet + Gauss Rifle.
The Bozar is really wonderful ... I find it works better than the Vindicator, plus the ammunition is dirt cheap and plentiful. I also have Bonus Rate of Fire and Fast Shot, so my Gauss Pistol only takes 2 AP to fire

That and Bozar can be a mean and nasty kill gun when you're in front...thus not worrying about some yokel of your getting fragged.

But then you miss out on the fun of shooting everyone in the groin. I played one game with a FALCHE'd character wherein every attack was a called shot to the groin (except for robots, of course). Frank Horrigan was clearly messing with the wrong dude, but he only realized it after I pounded a few 2mm EC rounds into his groinal plate and knocked him to his knees.phongn wrote:The Bozar is really wonderful ... I've never liked Marcus due to his inability to wear armor. Vic with a pulse rifle sounds nifty, though

Who in blazes is Lenny? And I always found the SCI investment needed to get Skynet (130+ IIRC) to be way out of proportion to the benefit of getting that robot.Lenny is kinda useless, I'm afraid. I'm tempted to replace him with Skynet + Gauss Rifle.
No 'I find' about it. If you do the calcs, the Bozar has the second best per-round damage of all the bullet-using guns in the game. Combine this with the availability of .223 and the Bozars narrow field-of-fire...The Bozar is really wonderful ... Oh, I did that before -- I grabbed every bonus for a sniper-character I could (increased damage, sniper, sharpshooter, etc.) and went for the groin in one variation. In another I just used the Bozar a few times while he dealt with the gun turrets and the squad I persuaded to join up (who, according to the FO Bible lived on and fought in many adventures).Pablo Sanchez wrote:But then you miss out on the fun of shooting everyone in the groin. Yes. I never had use for it, what with my preference for the Bozar/Gauss Pistol combo. Imagine the carnage a place could do if they made a Gatling Gauss Gun or even twin-turreted gauss rifles.Cool...didn't know Vic liked the energy...someone to use the Eletro Pulse rifles.
Yeah, that's the problem with him -- average armor, no stims -- but he does autorepair.Skynet is fun but a wee bit testy since he can't use Stims and his armor is average.

Exactly. I actually calculated that the Avenger theoretically had the best firepower, but it sprays rounds everywhere and there's no way you can get near the max roll for each round. No 'I find' about it. Pfft.
The best party members are the two cyberdogs and Dogmeat.
Sure, they won't last against Hubologists, Press Gangs, or Enclave Patrols, but still.
Ok, I think I need to reinstall the games now.

Update:
Sadly, Vic was killed last night. The victim of a wanamingo strike. He, like the moron that he is, failed to follow orders and stay close to me as we Dusted off. Cassidy and Lenny and I made it out fine. In fact, we did better than fine, we fucked up that whole nest. We're now heading off to the toxic caves again to see if'n we can pick that elevator lock. I bet there's some neat stuff down there.
Vic's epitaph:
Here lies Vic.
Dipshit. Got what he deserved.
For all time
upon silver wings you fly
clear blue skies above you, like a
Kite in the breeze
Your life blew
out.
up, up, up, until heaven you reach.
(Read the first letters of the poem, going down to see a secret message! I saw an actual picture of a headstone with something like this, that spelled "Fuck you" I stole the idea. If you've seen it before and it's not funny to you, read the first letters again to hear my response!
OHm and has anyone else noticed that burst mode for most guns isn't worth it? My best weapon so far is an eyeshot with my .223 sniper rifle. I can kill wanamingos with two or three shots. In fact, with my current weapons, that's about the only thing that does any appreciable god damn damage to the things. I Just BARELY managed to clean out those bastardized caves last night. Now I gotta figure out how to take the Khans...hopefully there's some cool Gang member killing stuff in the toxic caves vault thingy. I hit it lucky at the tables and bought a boatload of books in san fran, now my science, and doctor and stuff is pretty up there, but my lockpicking still sucks...hope the electronic lockpicks healp.

Pity, because Vic becomes useful if you have to repair stuff and he's an extra gun. There are others that you can pick up, though.Chardok wrote:Sadly, Vic was killed last night. So did you sell back the deed for a nice $1500 profit?
Burst mode for most weapons is indeed not worth it. The Sniper Rifle will serve you well, too. As for the Toxic Caves, remember to find some Rubber Boots and wear them, otherwise you'll take damage and eventually grow a mutated toe. Finally, you must use an electronic lockpick on the door.
