Note: If you try to reverse engineer it.. good luck. Problem with spells is that beginners have to prepare them. After the spell is used, it is erased from the mind of the caster until it is reprepared the next day. More powerful mages can circumvent this but.. the scrolls used to learn the spells are kept a close guarded secret

Ambassador Shelton shrugged. "As you wish, Ambassador Nethington, though I assure you that this food is hardly inferior," he said right before biting into a haunch of griffon. "Lord Astinius, may I ask what creature this is? I've never seen its like before."

The chatter in the room quieted as a trio of newcomers arrived. Their vessel had arrived unannounced at the edge of the system only moments ago- a sleek, black shape a kilometer long, her nose a cluster of brutal-looking weapons. All present were shocked to see a vessel from the enigmatic invaders of the rimwards nonaligned worlds- vessels crewed by those some of the old Floater nomads referred to as Ousters.

The tallest of the trio was clearly the leader, her two partners bodyguards. All were tall- the woman was six feet, and her body guards approached seven. Their skin was pale, their hair close-cropped rows of red braids. Their movements were fluid and unnaturally swift. Their eyes darted across the assembled ambassadors, beaurocrats, and flunkies.

The leader spoke:
"I am Boundwoman Aleksandra su Jhalar, Voice of the Hajr. I speak for the Hajr, which in turn speaks for the entirety of the Unbound. I herald the Diaspora, and come seeking an audiance with the powers of the Terran Sphere."

With a flick of his wrist the table lengthened and another set of placemats with a full meal say on the table

"Please, eat to your hearts content"

"Ah. I don't indulge in alcohol myself during negotiations, but thank you anyway," Shelton said, raising a water glass to Astinius. "Good fortune with your terraforming project on Cration IX, by the way. I passed through that system once, when I was a pilot for the Republic Space Command almost twenty years ago. No signs of life or even a class M biosphere on the ninth planet, as I recall. Do you intend to fully establish a planetary atmosphere, or is it a dome colony of some sort?" Shelton looked back and forth between Astinius and the ambassador from Krytos, whose name he had not caught, as he asked the question.

As the newcomers ended their little speech, a chatter broke out via Datanet.

"Many do not, but the wine is there if you wish. In so far as the terraforming goes, it wil take time, but the establishment of a full biosphere is not that hard. Expensive, but rather simple. The main part of the cost comes from getting the material components for the Move Earth Create Water and Gate spells that are required. Those can become expensive"

After gorging herself on the meat, the ambassador turned her eyes from the meal and got down to business.

"The Hajr's purpose here is simple."

From the utilitarian belt over her shipsuit, she pulled a small holoraphic projector. An image of Known Space sprung into view.

"These worlds have been chosen for the Diaspora. None of the powers represented in this chamber have holdings in any of these systems."

A slice of the Rimwards border of Known Space turned green. A dozen systems were cordoned off, but only two of them held inhabited planets.

"The Hajr will begin preparing these systems for the Diaspora immediatly. We wish to extend our assurance that our intentions are peaceful. Those with borders near the claimed area need not fear us. We offer complete freedom of our territory to any who wish to travel within."

"I see. Engineering has always interested me, and terraforming projects are the biggest, though I surmise that you'll hardly use the standard methods." The ambassador winked at that, his expression jovial.

The stars rippled and warped for a moment, and the Fist of God Super-Drednaught class vessil slid out of the wormhold into the space near the station.

Almost 1.5 kilometers long, surrowned by the inky-purple haze of it's massily overpowered shield generators, and with visible missle turrets layering the outside, it's the sort of vessil that was built to negoeate with guns.

Ironic, given that it's here on a peacefull mission.

One of the duty officers swiveled his chair to face the captian.
"We have arrived sir, foreign millitary presense is as expected."
"Good, commence transport."

With a *verrp* *verrp* *verrp* sound, three metal rings appeared in the center of the room. In a flash of light, a man wearing a black unadroned millitary uniform appeared between them. With another *verrp* *verrp* *verrp* the rings vanished.

His eyes scanned the room, looking at the alien representitves with almost visible distain.
"Greetings, my apolitiges for being late. There was a malfunction in one of the gate controls."

After talking with his superiors, he turned towards the Ouster ambassador.
"We do no tmind you claiming these worlds. They are of no interest to us."

But he couldn't stop a slight giggle come out of his mouth as he heard about the terraforming talk.
"You really use all those mud-balls for a living? How...quaint."
BEhind him, the marines chuckled as well.

"I am here represening Jardanian territorial and millitary intrests. The system in question has a orbiting ring of debree between the 7th and 6th planets. While not a propper asteroid field it still containes significant raw materials that we have had out eyes on for some time. We ask....."
From his tone you see that it's NOT a request.
"......that while the planets are yours to do with as you wish. That we be allowed a mining presense in the system for severel months to aquire that which we need."

The Ouster ambassador merely smirked at the posturing. They were like a bunch of Giudice, bickering over nitpicks when none of them saw the larger picture. They clearly did not realise man's destiny, or the true dominance of primates. They wasted their potential on spheres of gas or stone, playing with the fundamental laws instead of following the imperatives of evolution.

She was far to well trained to voice her thoughts.

"Material plane? You mean Physical reality? Then no, I have to disapoint you, most of us don't waste their time living there. To wasteful." He cleared his throat. "And if we should have insulted someone, I appologize. I am not used to deal with this kind...of people."
