Video Game Reccomendations

Post by Asst. Asst. Lt. Cmdr. Smi »

I believe that we haven't had one of these, and I'm thinking of buying a few new video games, so I was thinking it would be nice if there was a thread where people could reccomend video games to others, and perhaps give the console(s) it's available on, the category, and the cost.

Any genre in particular? Personally, I favor RPG games.

EDIT: There's a loooooong list of games I've heard good things about and are on my want list, but unfortunately they'll have to wait until a major system upgrade.

I would mention though Morrowind, KOTOR. Don't have links right now, but any googleing would give you plenty of results.

For FPS's on the PC, the good one's out now that I'm currently playing are Battlefield Vietnam, Far Cry (Killer AI and Engine) and Unreal Tournyment 2004

RPG's on the PC, can't go wrong with Knights of the Old Republic.

Racing on the PC, nothing beats Need for Speed Underground

Skies of Arcadia: Legends
Platform: GameCube
Genre: RPG
MSRP: $25

One of the best (and only) RPGs on the GameCube. I haven't played FF:CC yet, but this is an excellent port of the Dreamcast version that made the GC well worth the price to me.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Platform: GameCube
Genre: Action/Adventure/RPG
MSRP: $50

In my opinion, one of the best iterations of the series to date. Don't let the cel shading fool you; the game looks excellent.

How can you ask us to recommend a game without explaining even the slightest what you are into?

Okay, Pong - Atari.
History? I love history! First, something happens, then, something else happens! It's so sequential!! Thank you first guy, for writing things down!

I'm really not thinking of anything in particular, as Spring Break has just started for me and I want something to do. Although if people need to know, I'm into the action/adventure games.

GTA3 and/or VC. Plenty of action, and just good ol' random violence. :D

And your Spring Break is starting now??!! Well, I guess I can't complain too much, since my last day of classes is in about two weeks.

Like Rogue said GTA3/VC are good ones, so's Zelda:WW or Ninja Gaiden.

That pretty much covers each of the system with two exculsives and one cross platform.

Any or all of the Hitman series. The original is out on the PC and #2 is out on both the Xbox and PS2. Good shoot'em up games. Halo is king of shooters, imo.

Crimson Skies 2 is hell've fun for the Xbox as is Secret Weapons over Normandy. KOTOR will keep you entertained for atleast 30 hours. Armed and Dangerous is funny and entertaining, Medival Total War for the PC will keep you up at nights, taking over the world.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

You're into action/adventure? Then there is only one game for you: Dark Cloud 2. This is an amazing game, simply because there is so much to see and do. Check it out.

*points above*
What he said. I believe Hitman is $20 while Halo is $30 (on X-Box)

Another good cheap $20 X-Box game is MechAssault. Splinter Cell is now $20 too.

In no particular order

Call of Duty(Well acutaly this is my number one Recomindation)
GTA 3 Vice City(1.5-3x better than in than GTA3 IMHO)
Battlfield 1942(If you want the expansions or not its up to you)
Battlefield Vietnam(Only if you like dropping Napam on hords of Vietcong/Americans, sometimes both at the same time, otherwise its a slightly pretter, more unblanced 1942 with a cool gimic(Music)
