Big surprise.

The "rejection of valid No votes" mostly took the form of special instructions to election officers in heavily federalist ridings (especially those with large anglo, Jewish, Native and immigrant communities) to apply ridiculously draconian standards for spolied ballots. The net effect was that a disproportinate number of No votes were thrown out.

Now it has come out that local polling stations were instructed to add a few nonexistent Yes votes each, in small enough numbers per station to look like normal counting errors, but large enough to influence the eventual outcome.

Of course, the government will not step in and force an investigation of the fraud because of the spending irregularities in the No campaign, which were the origin of the current sponsorship scandal. What a frickin' joke.
