Well, since it's their people, i think they have every right to decline.

I'm not blowing away my neighbor because some Marine tells me to. If he wants the guy dead, he can get the blood on his hands.

They forgot that some Iraqis aren't objecting about killing other Iraqis over religiou beliefs,religion is a good reason to kill but freedom isn't i guess

well, if you were a soldier and, let´s say, a rebellion in cleveland, ohio would be causing trouble, would you not go there and help to settle things if ordered?

i don´t think this has that much to do with being neighbors. i think this shows that the iraqis are not willing to risk their lives for something as unstable as the present situation. if they fight the rebells now and the US decides to back out in the near future, they know they´ll be screwed.
they probably remember that somethin similar has happened before.

Actually i think Salm put it quite well. The Iraqis arent going to risk being massacred if the Americans screw up later on, and rightly so. It's happened before, after all, so it's fresh in their minds.

Freedom? Puh-lease. From their perspective, the Iraqis see only the "freedom" to do what America tells them to, when they tell them to, and where they tell them to. Who's going to fight for that?

Which is why instead of disbanding the unit, I'd apologize to them for
putting them into an untenable situation of being forced to fire on
their fellow countrymen, and tell them that as a result of this, they're
being reorganized away from internal security duties and towards
