We have a few small bases in the Oort clouds, and have extended citizenship to the floaters residing there, even setting up a small mage academy so they fcan cast enough cantrips to vote in our elections.

The moment you placed military vessels so close to an inhabited syustem you took up an aggressive position, one from which you could easily launch a suprise attack on their colony worlds. In te interests of preserving peace, we wil offer a proposal.

First: The asteroid Belt be shared between your two powers.

Second: Both sides withdraw military ships larger than a destroyer from the system

Third: This is the last territorial demand from a system that has a populated world. From this point on, you will consider the entire system a powers territory, not merely its planets.

Such a stance is not acceptable to any nation that values its territorial integrity. What if we were to show up in your home system with mining equipment and a battle fleet and assure you that we only wanted the asteroids or some dead planet or other? How would you react?"

You said that if you do not have a settlement on a heavenly body then you cannot lay claim to it; that since the Krytosians did not live on the asteroids, even though they have settlements on seven of the planets and are working on the other two, that the asteroids were not their territory. The problem is, by claiming asteroids and territory in a system with inhabited worlds, ESPECIALLY if your mining vesels have an armed escort, you are compromising the integrity of the system for the other power. It is akin to another nation building a military base next to metropolis.

We will keep having these problems if you do not change your laws to be in line with the rest of the galaxy. and whether you accept the terms of this agreement or not, it WILL be your last territorial demand because the KSE will not tolerate it, nor will any other power.

yes, but what of other systems? We will have to make this same compromise on dozens of different worlds, and that will weaken the military strength of any power in the system. Leaving them ripe for invasion. I am not stupid, this compromise IS one-time only. It is our attemtp to avoid a war, but if you keep annexing territory within another governments systems, we will know your intentions.

By the way, I notice an inconsistency. You claimed your space is your teritory, meaning you have sovereignty over it... but yet you refuse to recognize the space of a system as the territory of another power.

Very well.

How yould you react if someone jumped into your space with a battlefleet and started setting up a battlestation?

"We would, of course, destroy any ship or operation trying to set up a base or anything like it in one of our systems. Should you find them, that is. I think you would find it a painful experience, I can assure you that."
