Okay, all capital (by which I mean larger than fighter/transport) military ships and stations are up in my OOB. Fighters, ground troops, and fleet composition to follow.

UP to you, Darksider. I'd assume that they would have gone down fighting when the NBA hit Krytos, but knowing your past alliance with the Floaters, I would not be at al suprised if Floater refugees set up in your territory. You'd almost certainly have the largest native Floater population of any of the surviving powers (the Monacorans would probably have few if any, and find themselves bearing more Floater pirate attacks than anyone else, as well.)

As long as the Floaters do my power no harm, they're welcome to our Oort clouds. Not like we use 'em. *Shrug* I'm running a true republic here.

I always thought my Gates to be more like Farcatsers. Allowing persons and smaller things to travel instantaneous, but ships still have to make "normal" transit.[/quote]

Hence I said "not on any significant scale." It's alright if you can transport individuals.

Do you try to extend citizenship to diplomats?

The way I kind of figured the attack happening was this: The monacarns sold the allied battle plans to the NBA, which let them know that a meeting of the top allied generals was taking place on Krytos. The NBA then send everything they had (thousands of capital ships) straight to Krytos while ignoring the rest of the system and wore down the defenses through attrition, and bombed the planet.

JadedMasses?

Ansibles don't work like that. They're more like a paper cup "telephone". You speak into one end, and it comes out the other. It's not really a broadcast medium. It does have the advantage of being untappable...

All i have to do is be carefull enough that you can't trace anything back to me, and i'm safe.

Not only are the microscopic fragments traceable, but so are your engine emissions, and given enough time, your cloaking field will leave remnants as well.

Not only that, but the color spectrum of the explosion will be able to be traced back to the source of the materials.

and if all else fails... We have psions that can trace it... psychometry is fun. Granted, they can only get a ballpark figure from fragments of hull, like what the mental makeup of the individuals who caused it was... but that should be enough to point people in your direction.

Not to mention that you're the one with the motive. You really shouldn't have taken your cue from the Starfire's captain.

I think you can't trace atomized fusion mines back to the person that made them.

WOW. Steel and processed hydrogen. Those sure are RARE buliding materials.

So they can trace it to me........and evey other tech empire that uses mines.

Ok, but that's not proof.

They can trace the batch moron. Those materials had to be procesed, and whenever materials are processed they are traceable back to the manufacturing plant, and even to where the raw materials were obtained.

More like what amounts to a mental photograph and psychological profile of your pilots.

They will be able to see the explosion on sensors, and using that wil be able to ahnylize the exact chemical composition of every single material used in the mines. And from that, will be able to cross reference impurities and find out where the mines were manufactured. From there it is simple detective work

Not if my black ops teams have fiddled with the mix to prevent JUST THAT.

Ok, black ops pilots. Like you didn't allready know that.

Once again, not if the mines were made to prevent that.

How did they fiddle with the raw materials? Are they nuclear techs? How expensive are these mines?

Well, lets see, mines built just for the Black-Ops devision, that have a special class of steath vessel just about deploying them..........I'd say pretty damn expensive.

and how pray tell could the materials be tampered with, without changing the reactive properties of the radioactive material?

It's a FUSION bomb. They all use 100% pure hydrogen, nothing special there.

The only way to trace a mine by materials would be the atomic sized shards of metal that are now spinning through space at a good fracting of lightspeed. So even if you could catach one, the stell CAN be tampered with so that's no good.

The only way to trace them would be the shape of the explosion, and that's really easy for the black-ops guys to change often. So it's not really traceable either.

shape? no, not the shape. The color.

Every material in that bomb is incorporated into the explosion, and each batch of them is unique. We would be able to tell where the source of the iron in the steel was. You cant change that. Hell you said over AIM/MSN that you use titanium.... that is an alloy and so traceable it is not even funny.

Sure I can, I can make them out of materials I bought or stole from someone else. I can add checmicals to the steel that I dont' normally add so it can't be tracted back to me.

Or he could have bought his materials through backchannels from some neutral party. You have no proof.

that is also a possibility. But again, they had to be manufacuted somewhere, and from there they can be traced to a buyer. We may have to use torture to do it. But it IS doable.

And in this matter we dont NEED to prove it. All the Republic would ahve to do is convince other powers. And seeing as Laz's empire is the only one with a motive...
