If that's the facts, how are you getting supplies of materials besides nickel, iron, and gases? IIRC better than 90% of asteroids are nickel-iron or silicate in composition, which leaves you out in the lurch as far as many essential constructive elements are concerned. Sorry, but an industrial economy requires all kinds of disparate materials which are more often than not present mainly on planets. Copper or gold would be a good example--you need to make electrical wires out of something, after all.lazerus wrote:And I would argue that most if not all of my mining is done in asteroid belts or gas giants, the few resourses that I don't get that way I can trade for.

I think that it would probably be normal to have 2 or 3 minor worlds devoted to resource production for every core world.Thirdfain wrote:Lazerus, I think it's safe to say that EVERY power has 6-7 worlds or systems which supply resources to the central worlds,
Lazerus:
If you send your entire fleet out to secure an objective and you don't have any allies to back your ass up, then you'd better be prepared to take some losses. It's elementary logic.

Hell Laz, why the fuck do you think I didnt send my entire fleet? I left enough to defnd myself from not only you, but from the various other opowers that may take advantage of the war.
I was prepared to take losses that would be made up by the increased production of more worlds. And I am loathe to keep my fleet there to long. Which is why I am converting their ships to be used by my military.

Why do you think I only spared a tiny fraction of my battle fleet? Granted, said fleet is massive, but there were only three heavy capital ships in the strike force.
Edit: Alyrium, get on MSN or AIM, I don't care which.

Well, Laz sent cloaked ships to mine my primary trading system's space lanes. Afterwards Tycho attacked my primary military world and got his attacking force interdicted and annihilated. Then an international coalition formed to wipe out Tycho's nation after they broadcast their intent to conquer all surrounding nations. Lazerus went back on his alliance with Tycho and attacked Tycho's industrial base while I raided his colonies and Alyrium went for his capital. Tycho's Covenant no longer exists, and occupations have begun on his worlds. That's where we are as of now.

....
Ok.
Genocide Wars crush all major civs except Krytos (who are hurt) and Monacorans. Floaters nothing but nomads, Asgard disparate feidoms, so on and so forth.
At the STGOD start, Lazerus tried to plant mines in front of a Psilon convoy, but was run off. Some of his mines were captured and examined.
The Covenant of God invaded Rogue 9's territory, and was beaten back. A variety of powers fell on the covenant, defeating it in short order. During the fighting, the Krytos offered the Ousters a ew systems in exchange for assistance, the ousters accepted and attacked the Covenant o God's Edean system, destroying the Edean fleet there after it had surrendered, due to communications protocol errors and the fact no one bothered to tell the Ousters the war was over.
LAzerus' fleet, already in the Edean system, refused to cede it to the Ousters despite the Ouster's agreement. The Ousters are now raiding Lazeerus's territory, anda coalition is forming against Lazerus' empire.

Highlights for you Raxmei
the galaxy just got a lot more hostile. After a boring as heck diplomatic exchange in a space station in neutral space, the following note worthy events have taken place.
1. The Hajr, return to known space attacking various local fiefdoms at the edge of known space (presumably) and entering the galactic scene in style.
2. The Convenant of God, a fundamentalist nation attempts to show its muscle by attacking Pinnacle, a major military base of the Republic of Nashter (sorry if I mispelled that). The Covenant promptly get "torpedo pwned" and the battle itself is a total disaster for the Covenant. The Covenant HQ then openly threattens all nations that do not bow to their belief structure, bla bla bla.
3. The Bang Bus (ie, Coalition of the willing) is formed by the Arcane Empire and various other nations to "keep the galactic stability" by defeating (and annexing) Covenant space. The Covenant unsurprisingly gets pwned by the Arcane Empire, Krytos, Hajr, and Laz's nation.
4. The Arcane Empire has been expending without trouble, tossing "mass charm" spells and other magical trickery/l33t skillz to expand its technological base and have "sources of food" for the Empire's dragon legions.
5. The Hajr claim the center piece of the now defeated Covenant, a ring world. They wish to destroy its industry and leave it to the current inhabitants while they settle the system. Laz's nation claims the ring world themselves, problems arise which leads to an exchange of fire. Hajr forces beggining raids against Laz's nation since his entire navy participated in the Covenant conflict.
6. The Glorious Veithan Empire has been quietly manipulating the perception of current events to suit their needs. The demand for Veithan military good is rising sharply in these troubled times, and the Empire is in the process of ironing out several alliances with its neighboring local fiefdoms.
7. Currently, the Arcane Empire and Krytos are pondering yet another "Bang Bus" this time on their allies against the Covenant Laz's nation. The reason for this being that both the said empires are willing to acknowledge the Hajr's claim to the Covenant ringworld and are irritated at the actions of Laz's nation. In truth, they smell blood in the water and may want to try and grab some more territory. Aaah, real politik.

I'm aware of that, I was being sarcastic. Even if he could do that, he's still missing any sensible resource base. For example, do the Jardanians use plain old iron to build with? Because one can't easily make steel without coal...Rogue 9 wrote:One doesn't.

I take it from reading that we're picking up more or less from the orginal SD.net STGOD? If so I'm thinking of going with the Asgard-Kokand Empire from the previous game.Thirdfain wrote:The noobs are being dealt with. There will be shaping up or shipping out in the near future.
Besides, the best way to work an STGOD is to lead by example. Experienced players like you will make everyone play better.
