My sound just went *POOF!*

Well, my speakers are in, plugged in properly and everything.. but my sound died. It went in the middle of a song that was playing on Winamp. I don't know what the deal is - all the sound's out on the comp.

Have you restarted? It can happen that a process locks it, and no other one can get to play sound...

And there's no more info I can give you.. the sound just suddenly went out for no apparent reason.

It's fixed.. No ideas what caused it, though. :? Just kind of happened out of the blue.

Sound locking happens with certain applications...for example...using a mic on aim would lock the sound for every other application to keep background noise to a minimum...maybe something you ran did the same

One time, I disabled hardware acceleration, which resulted in my sound pooping out. Had to reinstall my sound card drivers for that one.
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime.
