Oh PLEASE! The Feds will install scientific data-gathering equipments, transporters, food replicators, and holodeck. The ISD will be led by a french Captain who likes Shakespeare and painting nudes for art's sake. Also, kids MUST be brought aboard to accompany their parents. Eventually, the ISD will be turned into some sissy "space exploration and luxury liner hybrid ship" like that one we already knew.

Very specific question: If one reason that transporters are not used un SW is the hull strength/armor of ships, such that the UFP would have to remove large chunks of the hull and replace it with their own tritanium/duranium alloys (and dramatically reducing the damage capacity of the ISD) to use transporters, would they?

I Think we all know the answer to that one. Here's another: After this is done, how long before some ST engineer figures out a way to make the engine explode on the first hit? Corallary to that: is the Federation capable of making the engine explode on the first hit even if they don't replace the hull? (we're not talking about replacing the engine with a ST warp core, we're talking about a native ISD engine, perhaps with ST mods. ) (and no destruct mechanisms, this feat must be accomplished by being rattled from outside!)

I think the discovery of an ISD would precipitate any number of personal problems and quandries for the crew of the vessel that discovered her, for all kinds of religious, military and social reasons. At least one major character would have some kind of epiphany and secretly decide to destroy/protect/worship the ISD. Someone minor would also recieve mental powers or a pregnancy. A huge, sweeping debate would ensue, involving slippery slopes, bad philosophy and Data's cat in a simple-minded analogy. Then it would devolve in DW's scenario, with the net result being no benefit for the Federation at all, but much 'stirring human drama'.

They would put Dr. Crusher in command and she would quickly lose the ISD. A garbage scow loaded with Feringi would be allowed to dock for humanitarian reasons and blammo, the Feringi would kill the redshirts and institute a galactic rule of terror.
myrmidon \MUR-muh-don; -dun\, noun:
1. [Capitalized] A member of a warlike Thessalian people who followed Achilles on the expedition against Troy.
2. A loyal follower, especially one who executes orders without question, protest, or pity.

And they'd put a doctor incharge of a military ship why?

Same reason they've got Psyciatrists in the military hierarchy, I assume.

Because of incompetence. That's all.

I am sure this has been brought up before but please humor me. How many Borg cubes could an ISD take out before it is critically damaged? And how many cubes could the ISD take on at once? Thank you for humoring me. :D

Many. Try drilling straight to a Unimatrix and wiping out everything there.
It's Rogue, not Rouge!
