Thirdfain is right. The entire reason you are in trouble now is because you fired on your ally (the Ousters) during the coalition attack on the Covenant when they had a legitimate claim to the ring world. Fix that and you are right where you want to be again. Stick to your assertion that the ringworld is your sole territory, and you will deserve everything that comes to you. That's how diplomacy works.

Of course, I can't speak for the other guys in this....

There is nothing wrong with being evil, you just be smart, and stick to your diplomatic agreements until you have secured allies.

I don't think the Nashtar case is good enough for them to persecute war against you, and if you would cede Edean to me, I would certainly make that publically known.

Oh isn't it? You forget, I also caught one of the ship's engine signature. All I need is a good scan of a Jardanian warship to know its the same engine type, and if I can get a look at one of the minelayers again it'll be all too obvious.

Let's not argue this here. If necessary, we'll argue it in the game thread.

Our friend, and mod, PabloSanchez noted that you would have to have mining planets. I've made all the changes that are necessary to my post.

It was indeed. It was one of the two successful ones and in my opinion still the most fun.

I liked the second one better, but I also played the second one a lot better than the first. Number One was prolly the most fun, yeah.

Shit, we argued like madmen in STGOD1. Let's not do that again.

I guess so, I had more fun in that one mostly because there were less hiccups and I liked the Asgard more than my succesor powers.

I don't plan on arguing the game into the ground.

"But sir, that weapons takes half an hour to charge and fire. If we fire it cold, we'll burn out half the capacitors on the ships and fry our power grid!"
I know there will be talk about the battle between Laz and Thirdfain coming up here, so let me start it off. I think Laz pulled off a perfectly acceptable move by using this Alpha Weapon, just because he stipulated that he is hurting himself by doing this. This said, it will ONLY be acceptable if your super-dreadnaught is out of comission for a good long while. Saying that you will fry out half your ship, then having you uber-efficient techs get it ready for the next battle is out of the question. If I see that dreadnaught coming around again soon, I will be posting with anger.

Also, Thirdfain, how many ships are in a squadron? I dont believe you ever posted that, and it would be helpful for everyone to know how many ships you have engaged at Belarus II...

Bugsby--I disagree with the acceptability of using the alpha weapon in that manner.

Lazerus:
A spread-out beam like this "flak mode" doesn't work in space combat. Our weapons have ranges in the thousands and tens-of-thousands of kilometers. In all probability, a "tight" formation merely means that one capital ship is within 100 kilometers of the next.

Using an area-effect weapon in space combat like that means that more than 99% of your weapon's yield is scattered to the winds and wasted. I'd advise you to actually fight Thirdfain's fleet, rather than trying to wipe it out instantly with some megaweapon--and you incidentally pulled this flak capability right out of your ass...

Pulled it right out of my ass? As if!

And I'm not trying to instantly wipe him out, the fact that the beam is so diluted means it will most likely only damage his ships, rather then distroy them. Just enough to keep them from running away so the destroyers can engage and distroy.

You introduced the flak capability in the very post that you used it in.

Even that would be overstating it.

They were already stopped from running away... remember?

To be fair, I would say if he really wanted to use his super weapon, let him, but no "flak mode". Let him shoot it into the formation, he'll hit 1 ship, it'll blow up, maybe damage another. Why he'd want to put his SD out of comission over an Ouster Raiding group is beyond me, but so be it.

I have 4 cruisers and around 20 escorts to a squadron, and, you'll note, that a Strike Cruiser's armament is optomized for dealing with enemy capital ships, and suffers greatly in a duel with maneuverable escorts like DDs and FFs.

Just for clarification. But where was said the weapons only have a range of several thousand kilometers?
I was of the impression of reasonable ranges for energy weaponry...

Rouge 9, I'm just checking before I post, but there are 4 ships, did you forgot about Dahak's fast destroyer or not detect it purposely?

Ah. Okay, fixed. I haven't had any encounters with Dahak's empire other than the diplomatic conference, so his ship designs are unknown to me.
